I'm not wound up, just amused. In theory it's fairly simple and straightforward to find PL players that could/would be in Madrid's XI but you somehow managed to make it funny by mentioning players who were clearly inferior.

The non exhaustive answer is Courtois and De Gea for the goalkeepers not Lloris because of his kicking game and for the midfielders Kanté, Fernandinho, maybe Herrera because they are mobile and defensively good enough to compete with Casemiro.
The rest of the league have no chance because they would have to compete with arguably the best players in their positions Carvajal, Marcelo, Ronaldo, Bale, Benzema*, Ramos, Varane, Modric, Kroos.

* For example Benzema in CL scored 51 goals in 95 games, you are not going to take his spot easily.
Think you can take Varane out of that list, he isnt one of the best defenders in the world I think.

"Arguably". Lot of people see it that way(Mourinho-Zidane), so out of respect I'll keep him there. And even then the PL CBs aren't better.

Still think we're going for two strikers, one being Morata. The other one, although I would fancy Belotti, will probably be an older poacher by the end of the market, just someone we could sub in in desperation through the end of games, like Chicharito. Who could it be, though?

I think there must be more objective people than his coaches who will ofcourse hype their players up a bit, especially Zidane being French as well and very keen on young talent.

Think Alderweireld, Azpilicueta are better, Bailly wasnt any worse at Vilarreal either while Varane was quite shaky. Dont think he's reached that level he showed when he brokethrough, that was beastly.

I'm openly not Varane's biggest fan, so I'm fine with that but I wonder you and I don't judge him unfairly because he isn't worse than he was when he brokethrough, I think that we expect more and therefore downgrade him. I say that but I prefer Umtiti...

Not sure. If we are only playing the one upfront we will have Rashford as back up then if it came to it Martial would play there.

None of those are headers, though, and both are probably needed on the leftwing of the attack.

40m max? Arsenal have supposedly already bid 45m + extras, and lyon want to hold out for close to 57m which they supposedly had agreed with athletico before the transfer ban

40m + Smalling could tempt them?

I don't think Rooney can be depended upon and we are without Ibrahimovic as well... Two strikers should be bought in.

So Real Madrid just sold Mariano Diaz to Lyon. Does that slow down Morata transfer? Mariano was like 3rd striker and was pretty good and I'm not so sure they want to get rid of another striker...

I think it is bound to be brought up when he talked his talk and continues to do it without showing for it. Apart from Pogba, i do not think we have had a major star in their prime come to united. I think Juve's director of scouting being brought in will have a good effect on the next window, but on this one i think is right now heading towards Moyes window or maybe LVG Panic buying window.
I know its just july 1, but teams dont like to sell players late in the window as they cant find replacements and if it is a planned window you usually make your signings early.

Just because a team functions very well together doesn't mean every individual player is that great.

Did he pass that average length of a honeymoon?

What's next? Babymoon? According to Google, there is also babymoon.

To be fair, he played like 6 games in UCL and while he flopped, it is a small sample. For England, it doesn't count. Better players than him like Rooney, Lampard, Gerrard or Scholes looked shit there.

I think that Kane is a better player and would choose him for United, but Benzema suits Real so much more. He does the dirty job for Ronaldo and has a good relationship with him in the pitch. Kane's all round game is nowhere as good and I doubt that he could fit with Ronaldo that well.

Not getting dragged into the whole debate about what players get into what team, but Kane played 3 games in the CL and scored 2 goals. I keep hearing he flopped in Europe, but his stats are good and he has been impressive bar the EL catastophe against Gent imo.

Regarding Morata, would people here be happy to sign him even if he cost 90m Euros? What's the breaking point?

when jose gives up on him. Even though i think matic is the wrong choice, i'll back Jose in the market.

Sure, but as posters on an internet forum it's kinda boring if we can't discuss what we personally think. I will back Pochettino in the market but I still thought 30m for Sissoko was a terrible purchase.

Wouldn't surprise me if this deal is dependent on the Mbappe signing.

This is what I've been saying all along. If Mbappe doesn't go to Real, I don't see them just selling Morata and weakening the team without some other high level replacement arriving. It makes no sense at all, particularly given Benzema's age, Cristiano's age, and Bale's injury record.

Real aren't going to sell Morata to United and weaken a team with the highest of aspirations just because Morata wants to leave and they feel bad for him because they know he really wants to be a starter. That isn't how it works. Real will sell Morata only if other moves are occurring that leave them improved or at worse equal in attack.

I admit that I haven't seen much of Delli Alli but I'd love to see a comparison of their stats per minute played. (not only goals & assists)

Allí has double the minutes, so Isco's stats actually look impressive compared

Kane, Aguero, Zlatan and even Lukaku are much better than Benzema, Matic, Kante, Dembele are better than Casemiro, If you have to pick between two of Pogba, Modric and Kroos, it won't be Pogba who would be benched, Both spurs cb's are better than varane. They are a great team but you are way overrating them.
it probably would.

Nah they arent buying Mbappe to be backup. Morata's issue is he doesn't want to sit on the bench. That won't change Mbappe or not

This move doesn't make sense to me.

I can understand United's perspective. But I'm struggling to understand why a newly married young Spanish striker, with an Italian wife, currently back-up to almost 30 Benzema, leaves Real Madrid to join United who have finished 7th, 4th, 5th and 6th in the last 4 seasons since Sir Alex retired. Surely he backs his own ability to out-perform Benzema over the next year or so ? I can't believe his wife is excited about living in Manchester.

Would be different if Zidane was pushing him towards the exit. Or if he was currently at a mid-table Spanish team.

If we can only sign Morata (or any striker of equal or better quality) in time for the preseason we should be ok. Very important to have him there in the preseason to try and gel with the team. We cant afford a slow start.

He likes Mourinho.

Jose factor and there was a rumour that Morata asked zidane about his role next season and was told he would remain backup to benzema.

He knows as a younger player trying to break through at Madrid you're always stuck between a rock and a hard place: the seniority of the players above you, and the risk that Perez might take a fancy to some galactico who'll be ushered in ahead of you. Benzema's one of those players who survive the circus long enough that they effectively earn tenure, and become very hard to displace. And when he drops off so badly that even that can't keep him as first choice, who's to say that Lewandowski or someone like him won't materialise out of nowhere and be undisputed first choice for the next five years.

Yep. I think that Europa League counts to some degree and he was quite bad there. Also, with England but as I said in the previous post, everyone fails with England.

Vertonghen for Varane IMO. De Gea, Courtuis and probably Lloris for Navas. Maybe Hazard for Bale/Isco. And that pretty much is it.

Not a 'maybe' for me.

There is no team Eden Hazard won't walk into at the moment. Isco was awesome last season but Hazard was better IMO.

Hazard is the better player (although Isco was a top 5 player in the world during the end of the season), but I think that is all about the balance. In addition, Ronaldo plays Hazard's role for Madrid, so you want a different player there, and Isco provides that.

Kane would probably get over Benzema too. I just don't rate Benzema that highly.
