Who the heck would want to leave Real Madrid right now? And it's his hometown club. Can't blame his views but nor does it mean we shouldn't be the ones to capitalise on the situation.

His relationship with Jose remains good (right?) and his style would suit the league and what we need to a tee.
Imo Real only brought him back to sell him.

Just couldn't sell him that Summer.

Ok. But who should we sign?

Not an overpaid crock and someone not wanting to play for us/leave Real. There are plenty of players we could sign, but thats not my business to identify the targets. I cant change the outcome. I just give my opinion on players we get linked with

But surely you have few names that you think we should sign.

Griezmann and Bernardo were 2 options i wanted to happen. Fabinho and Van Dijk would be another two. Bernardeschi for the wing or Perisic on a cheaper price. James could also be someone i could live with, he seems more keen to join us than Bale/Morata from reports. Lukaku/Belotti for the striker department

people are funny,we have a martial and rashford that blow hot and cold in a season and you don't want morata because he doesn't want to leave real,(who the feck will want to leave there right nw?).watched a lot of madrid games this season because I like the way they attack, always mixing it up no one style nonsense.Anytime i see morata play,he always play with an hunger.if he can bring that hunger to us,you will all be surprised about his ability.

lukaku will so frustrate this fan base when he can't do shit against Porto in the ucl group stage because of his poor first touch.

Bad news, dont touch him.

I am really sick of seeing people turn their nose up at literally every player we are linked with. From Bale to Keane to Morata someone always thinks we can easily do so much better. We havent finished in the top 4 for years, the vast majority of these guys would make us better.

Yes, if their heart would be in it. Lukaku would jump at the chance to play for us. Til Morata decides what the feck he wants and grow up, we could tie the deal up. I know Morata is better technically, but who cares

You have no idea how any of them feel about the prospect of joining United.

I want to stay at Real is clear enough. Juve is my second home too. You can keep your naivety for yourself, but of course getting played handsomely here and playing under Mou is not bad either, better than playing for AC Milan i guess.

I hope we don't sign him. Really can't see what people see in this guy. Would even take Lacazette instead of him. And Lukaku ahead of both.

You want Griezmann but by the sounds of it he didn't want to come either

I'd prefer Rashford over this expensive guy. He really wont take us unto another level.

Regardless of Morata taking us to another level or not, we need someone after Zlatan. If we let him leave for another club we're only going to limit our choices in the future as Lukaku is likely to move as well. Nevertheless we need numbers in attack as Zlatan and Rashford aren't enough and Rooney will more than likely leave. For the price we aint going to get anyone better and I still don't think Griezmann is dead in the water, I know what's been said about Atletico not being able to replace him but they have enough attacker to cover for him. It's still early days and I believe we will find out more on who we will be adding to the squad towards the end of the month.

I didn't use to rate him but after coming back from Juventus he has been very good and maybe that's why he isn't happy with his current status within the team. He has scored important goals for us coming from the bench with limited opportunities and still he can't become a starter so in that regard is only normal he wants to be a starter someone else but unless Florention is trying to get a higher profile striker it wouldn't make sense to sell him.

I like him, but he's never been an out and out goalscorer. This season is the first season he's scored 15+ goals in the league.

Seeing the price/quality of the strikers in the market I think that Morata would be the best option for United.
I believe that he is the first/second option for Mourinho.
I read in a not very reliable sport newspaper(diario gol) that he is decided to go to Chelsea, however Milan's offer is better.
Although United should push for him the victory tonight can change the picture
If Chelsea are in for him Conte will get him.

By those quotes seems this guy doesnt want to leave, which means he will be forced out by Real. We should pass on him for that reason. Also,i dont want to shop at RM at all, giving them money for their forced out players who dont want to leave,so they could invest in future galacticos.

Interesting quote this one. Surprised it hasn't been more widely reported. If genuine, it seems to rule out the Milan move.

Morata was one that I was really keen on when Griezmann seemed a certainty. Now, I'm not so sure. Similar with Perisic. Just shows what a blow the Griezmann "change of heart" was. It changes the game completely this summer.

His quotes about wanting to stay but it not being his choice sound worryingly like he's being teed up as a makeweight in a certain deal.

23m + Morata seems a good deal for them.

Keep De Gea and buy one of Lukaku/Belotti. We are making a mistake here, we wont get a better GK for the next few years for any money.

Well we spent a lot of money in the past 3 years on Players that should have improved us so it is understandable that most of us are sceptical about new signings.

I see that the Di Maria debacle has put off most on players being dumped by Real but lets remember that there were other players who were similarly forced out who then went on to have successful careers at their new clubs, Robben and Sneijder come to mind. Di Maria didn't want to leave Madrid, didn't want to move to United and had to come and work for Van Gaal who is difficult enough to work for without other stuff going on in the background. Morata has worked for Jose before and is hungry so he will be eager to show Madrid what they are missing. I see no problem in bringing him and James in for around £100m leaving us with a tidy sum to strengthen other areas of the team.

Griezmann is a bonafide loser. You should be happy he's not coming to United.

I think he'd be a very good signing and would be a nice compliment to Rashford and Martial's style of play in attack.

He's not going to get us 30 league goals a year, but then neither does Benzema, but it works for the team.

Yes, we are not going to get better GK, that is sure. But, i think it's easier to get good GK than good striker/attacking player. So i would be ready to include De Gea to some deal if we can get world class attacking player because of that. But Morata is not that player. And of course only if David really wants to leave.

I don't see why we should offer up De Get in exchange. If we want Morata, just pay for him. Madrid would sell at the right price regardless of a De Gea deal.

Morata is a good striker, but we can get the same quality elsewhere without giving up on a world class GK. It is rare to have one of the best GKs in the world, so as long as Big Dave is happy to stay and doesnt force a move, as reported, i dont see the issue. Just dont buy any Madrid player if they want to include De Gea in a (underwhelming) deal.

£23 million + Morata for De Gea is a good deal because he's arguably the most complete number 9 we can realistically get in the current market. Lukaku has played in teams where he was the focal point of the attack in counters (West Brom and Everton), and has a much weaker first touch and overall technique - so he could impede the flow of other attackers in terms of it being lesser than the sum of parts from a collective sense. Belotti also has similar concerns, though he's a more willing worker off the ball. Meanwhile, Morata has played in two of the biggest clubs around and co-existed with some world class forwards in limited roles as a substitute or even winger - which bodes well for how we could shape our attack. eg. He could theoretically bring a goalscoring support striker (Griezmann), or a tricky wide attacker into play (Dembélé), whereas with Lukaku - you can cite endless games where he fecks up moves by De Bruyne and Hazard for Belgium due to lack of awareness or effort or technique. Morata's smaller goal tally is a bit of a red herring because he has Pérez/Zidane favorite Benzema in front of him at Madrid; and Juventus thought Mandzukić was a better foil for Dybala, and Higuaín a marksman at the top of his game, plus they didn't want to invest heavily in someone who had a buy-back clause in his contract. Given regular playing time, he could be a very productive striker for United.
He's not really scoring goals, is he?
He scores when he's given time. Unfortunately, that has been in short supply at both Juventus and Madrid.

Also shines in some big moments:

vs Madrid in the Champions League

vs Bayern

vs Barcelona in the Champions League final

On first glance this looks a bad deal. I like Morata but I think the value of De Gea to us is underestimated. He is a superb goalkeeper and, in my opinion, catches shots other goalies do well to punch.

I think he'd be a very good signing and would be a nice compliment to Rashford and Martial's style of play in attack.

Squawka has Morata's chance conversion rate for last season at 31 per cent (link). That is significantly higher than Zlatan's. He is not the finished article but his finishing seems to be developing as he ages. Admittedly I do not see him as another Van Nistlerooy. He might be able to get a good return in England if he can adapt to the Premier League's physicality.
