He scores when he's given time. Unfortunately, that has been in short supply at both Juventus and Madrid.

Also shines in some big moments:

vs Madrid in the Champions League

vs Bayern

vs Barcelona in the Champions League final

So basically he needs a stage to shine as a sort of main striker? We could definitely give him that I guess.

I'd love to sign Morata. He seems suited to the PL and I think he'd score for fun with the right players around him.

Hopefully his future is sorted one way or another soon so ai don't get my hopes up

I'll have Morata here gladly. If James is willing to come and does well here, there he would be a better signing than Griezmann could've ever for the price we are gonna get him from.

James at his best, feeding Morata with Martial/Perisic and Mikhi/Rashford terrorizing the flanks...

I would tell them Morata and James for Dave, maybe another 10m from our side or feck off. As long as Big Dave is happy to stay and doesnt start to put us under pressure to accept a deal, we are winning this battle.

Morata + £23m for De Gea would be a very decent deal for all involved. With Zlatan out for half the season (may not be here at all next season), we need a target man up front and given the prices quoted for Lukaku and Belotti (around £80m), £43m for Morata is a very reasonable deal. Also, £66m for a GK is a very good deal, given that generally speaking GK's cost a lot less than outfield players. Obviously losing arguably the best GK in the world is a big loss, but the excess £23m from this deal alone will be able to get us most GK's in the world.

I see that the Di Maria debacle has put off most on players being dumped by Real but lets remember that there were other players who were similarly forced out who then went on to have successful careers at their new clubs, Robben and Sneijder come to mind. Di Maria didn't want to leave Madrid, didn't want to move to United and had to come and work for Van Gaal who is difficult enough to work for without other stuff going on in the background. Morata has worked for Jose before and is hungry so he will be eager to show Madrid what they are missing. I see no problem in bringing him and James in for around £100m leaving us with a tidy sum to strengthen other areas of the team.

Well,i see all the problems when it comes to James and Morata, also there is difference between Di Maria,James,Morata vs Robben,Sneijder.

Who are we? Everton?! He'd be the worst striker we've had since Forlan.
Morata is not a world beater. But, Forlan(our version) is not a better player than Morata. It is hyperbolic. And as Invictus pointed out, he scores very well(goals to minutes ratio is only second to Messi) when he is awarded minutes on the pitch.

I would like for us to buy Kane or Lewandowski. But, Lewandowski is off limits and Spurs would take us to the cleaners for Kane.

wouldn't mind James tbh, seems he wants to prove himself, hungry players with confidence from mourinho can turn out quite good for us..

Based on paper talk...and the fact Ederson cost 34m GBP, I dont thik we will get a replacement for 23m. Oblak was supposed to cost 60m Euros although, with the transfer ban, that will also be a no go.

Makelele
Clarence Seedorf

I didn't go that far back, although I was tempted to list Van Der Vaart as well.
The thing is, I'm not saying this guy will be a success, but people saying he doesn't play for Real Madrid so he isn't good enough is such an awful argument considering the depth of their squad.

At Juve he was in demand, Real bought him back to sell him on anyway, so he was never in their plans, just wanted to profit from it

Technically excellent as you'd expect and I think he'd have no issues in scoring in the Prem.

Benfica are incredibly tough sellers, so looking at the fees they get for their players is not really representative of the rest of the market. Perhaps Donnaruma is available at a decent fee, given that he's only got 1 year left on his contract and his agent is Raiola. Saying that, I've barely seen him, so I'm not entirely sure how good he is.

So just to view it this way, out of top teams, our number 9 is probably the weakest (even though good) with the expection of arsenal may be (costa, Kane, augero, msn, ronaldo and benzema, lewondoski, dybala, griezman etc). I am sure we will be fine with him but we really need to sign a great striker

If De Gea sees himself as a Real Madrid player at some point in the future then just get it over with and let him go now. Morata is a lot better than the other options of Belotti and Lukaku and is one of the best all round CFs playing. If we got him and a top player for the right, I'd be very happy with our attacking options for next season.

If De Gea is desperate to leave, we need a player in the exchange. feck the cash, get morata.

However, until we get some better sources on De Gea, it seems like people are just starting the rumour again for clicks.

Lets get him and keep De Gea and or if de Gea is in the deal, get James in the deal too. Pity Griezmann wont happen this season, Griezmann behind Morata would have been tasty.

You just know that if we do actually want Morata, Madrid will only negotiate if De Gea is part of the deal.

Then we should get James in the deal too somehow and pay another 10m or 20m. James behind Morata seems good to me, they will have an understanding already.

He scores when he's given time.

Im not sure that's really true. For Juventus over 2 seasons he scored 15 goals in over 2800 minutes of league football which is less than one goal every two games.

If we go into next season with him as our main striker I can't see where the goals are going to come from. Especially given that a lack of goals when we were creating lots of chances cost us a dozen or more points.

Looking at our squad if we sign Morata then we need to sign a prolific goalscorer as a second striker in the mould of Alli, Griezmann, Sanchez, Bale etc.

With additions needed in defence and midfield I'm not sure it would be the most effective use of funds. I certainly don't believe we'll be spending £200+m this Summer.

I think that Madrid shouldn't sell him.Morata has been frustrated sometimes during the season but should understand that his contribution has been very good, with a decent amount of minutes in the best team in Europe.
I think that a good talk with the board/Zidane to show him confidence should be enough.
If they want to sell,80m€,especially since you have lost Bernardo Silva and Griezmann.
It's United who need a striker,not us.
The same with James who should go for at least 60m€.If there are not offers he can go somewhere on loan.

We're going to need that anyway. Other underwhelming options like Belotti and Lukaku score at a slightly higher rate, true, but any of the three is essentially replacing Zlatan Ibrahmovic's goal tally. We need that second attacker to contribute goals -- we only managed 53 in the league and our next highest top scorer after Zlatan hit a measly 6.

Morata's goal tally though: 20 goals in 39 games (17 starts and 22 subs) is very impressive. His overall minutes is 1707, which equals a goal every 90 minutes or so.

Can't be sure here, but I believe Juventus played a 2 man strike-force back then, which would contextualise his stats a little better. Onus isn't on him to score as frequently; his ability to play and work-rate have more interest.

Thats not how Madrid do business. They will sell Morata for 50m and James to the highest bidder, somewhere around 50-60m and try to get Mbappe and De Gea on board.

Really struggle to think of a striker he reminds me of - a stockier, less clinical Raul perhaps? Would like to see how he does in the premier league

Fernando Torres pre-Liverpool.

In the past they didn't but lately are working better in the transfers and the sales.
Perisic and Morata can't cost the same and Madrid should use that argument to increase the bid.
Morata+20=De Gea or Morata going to Milan for 60 would be a bad business for us in my opinion, based in the price of Belotti or Lukaku

I hope we 'rob' you somehow, my ideal deal would be Morata + James for De Gea and another 20m-30m with add ons or something.

100 million was earmarked for Greizmann. Since that's off the cards I think we should spend that money on Morata and James if they want to come. I have a feeling Morata will excel in the epl. We create lots of chances. We need players to finish them. I think this duo will be good value for the 100 million

Considering we have Romero as a backup we are one of the few clubs who can take the risk on a talented youngster.
