Wages. Not that he'll go for a lot less anyways mind.
Not an issue we lose Rooneys ridiculous wages this year.
The fundamental point, though, is why does anyone other than Ed Woodward give a feck?

You think £50m is more reasonable? Tell yourself he cost £50m, you'll literally not be affected in any way regardless.
Because we become a laughing stock and ridiculed by rival fans

Because there are just as good cheaper options available

Because it's unreasonable demands for a player that wants to move and has no part to play for them

Because when we start caving in to such ridiculous demands every club starts taking the same stance

Because its 10 million less than Grieizmann who by miles a better player

I could go on but i feel I've made my point.

70-80M for Morata? I know the market is inflated, but seriously? Get Aubameyang and you have a proven goalscorer.

This is literal insanity. Real knows that United wants the transfer complete by early July. They also know we can pay. United need to turn around and put pressure on the Bernabeu.

Woody should bend over and pay up for Morata just so we won't have to hear Maureen b!tch all season.

Who gives a shit what rival fans say? Not to mention they'll not be laughing whatever the price if he's banging in goals all the time. Did rival fans laugh at the stupidity of spending £30m on Rio Ferdinand 15 years ago?

The rest is conjecture and your opinion of what we need, I'd rather let Mourinho decide what he wants and let the CEO decide what is affordable. I'm weird like that.

I think you are spot on with this. I think its going to be interesting to see the actual price, but that said, its not very important for any of us.

Fixed.

It's their money, and their experience. Conjecture is one thing, but conjecture in a field where we know little to nothing is maddening.

Because Jose wants him and not Auba. I don't care how much Auba will cost if Morata is the one our manager wants.

Similarly, I want to see Fabinho with us,but if Jose decides on someone else, so be it. However,it is a slightly different scenario since there are no bids for Dier or Matic yet.

Id like to think before we began negotiating we had a price in mind and we were not willing to pay above it.

Im sorry but its ridiculous to pay near world record price for a player who for all intents and purpose is a bench/squad player at Madrid. Morata wants game time, make him push the move or let him stay.

What cheaper options.
United are who came calling for the player. If he wants to leave he will be sold but that doesn't mean that we have to sell off cheap.
Besides he has a long contract, not like de Gea when he was in the last year of contract and you demanded world record fee for a GK.

Not cheap but actual market value if your club genuinely believes he is worth £78 million send over what you're all smoking because its got to be some bloody strong stuff.

Both Alexis Sanchez and Aubemayang would cost us less since you asked.

Every one feeds belotti in Torino. Morata will also get the best out of other attacking members.

Was key in their CL run though.

Yeah, unlike Belotti, who's proven his mettle at noted serial winners Torino.

I will soon be known as an anti Morata which I am not. I'd love to see us signing him. However I think that its unfair to defend Morata by diminishing Belotti. Both have deficiencies in terms of experience. One has yet to play the line with a top club and the other one has yet to be a regular first teamer at all.

If Jose really was pragmatic and had no fixed philosophy he would pull out of this and buy Auba and Lacazette, the two most proven and available strikers on the market, and change our style accordingly.

Wages are as important as the transfer fee. If you aren't concerned about wages, why are you concerned about the fee?

Because outgoings this summer will cover what we pay him in wages.

Rooney
Young
Smalling
Etc

"Worth" must be the most casually used and stupid word when it comes to discussing transfers. He's only worth what Real are willing to let him go for and what United are willing to pay. There's absolutely no other independent "worth" of a player.

And what Real Madrid want us to pay for a bench warmer is not 'worth' our time.

You're missing the point completely. The overall financial package when signing a player is fee + wages for the contract length. You cannot simply focus on the fee while not giving a feck about the wages. There's no way Auba goes for a package equal to, let alone much less, than Morata.

Sure, but then there's no point in even discussing the transfer. Just believe in Jose who's never-failing. 16/17 was Morata's best season with 15 goals (he's almost 25 years old). 70-80m are pretty much for a guy like him.

I think that his market value is around 80,not less.
Alexis and Aubameyang are 28.With Morata United still have the chance of some good sale in the future.

Then we're free to feck off. Believe it or not, Perez and Co aren't forcing us to take Morata. The very fact that we're still negotiating means that people way more clued up about this than you believe it is very much worth our time and more.

Jose goes for strikers that have a presence upfront and can hold the ball up. Everyone in world football knows this. Jose will never sign a suarez, aubameyang, lacazette, aguero etc. Real know this hence they will take advantange of utd as will torino. Utd literally have two choices in morata and belotti but they will cost utd 80-90m and utd will pay. Jose should be cheeky and offer 60m for the bad boy mauro icardi instead

Given what they're asking for Perisic, it's safe to say we won't even get a reply to that offer.

90m for Morata? Truly insane. Good striker with decent technique and speed but he ain't prime Fernando Torres.

Edit: Really overrated on here IMO, I'll be very surprised if he gets more than 15-20 goals next season if he does sign for us.

I'd just walk away or even reduce my bid now. Real know we need to buy before our tour and they'll do their best to drag this till Aug. 31st hoping to extract every last penny out of us to sponsor their Mbappe bid. Morata isn't good enough to warrant 70M let alone 90M. If we bend over now, we might as well become Real's bitch after how they did us with DiMaria.

People actually care that fans of rival clubs will laugh at us about who we buy and what we spend?

Gee, I sure do hope we don't get the players the manager wants just so some people on the internet can feel more comfortable when discussing football with random idiots in a pub somewhere...

The price is getting pretty fecking ridiculous if the reports are true. £60m was the limit for me.

Not that I like those cnuts but they did us how exactly with ADM?

Honestly, feck is up with the constant conjecture straight out of nowhere with Caf as of recent? Getting unberable at times.

If Morata is worth 90 million to Real, then DDG is worth double that amount to us. Real are demanding more for him because we didn't sell DDG to them, we are one of the richest clubs and we don't need to deal with a circus like Real Madrid.

Have to say i'd be very surprised if we cough up 90M. RM are going to try and maximise this to the hilt, and you can't really blame them to be honest. Look how much we shafted them over the De Gea fax machine stunt. That was all over social media and you can be sure they were slightly pissed at it. I'm not bothered about the fee like most people are around here. Not entirely sure why people are so concerned about what we pay. If it affects our other targets then i would be, but we are loaded, so i'm guessing it doesn't.

They sold us a player who didn't want to come here for atleast 10M extra knowing how desperate we were at that late juncture in the transfer window.

There's negotiating in good faith and then there's holding players up for ransom, which Madrid do.

So give them the €90m and get it done. There's no better option available/interested at a lower price, and RM have us over the barrel. "Just buy Auba" doesn't cut it because it's a lot more complicated than just going to the shop and buying a Snickers. The Snickers may not want to be eaten by you, the shop may have set a crazy high prize on it, or maybe you prefer a chocolate bar with less caramel and a different type of nuts in a slightly darker chocolate jacket because it perfectly complements the rest of your tasty candy meal. So yeah ...
