Good signing for Arsenal, the bastards, but I'm not sure the money couldn't have been spent better elsewhere. Ozil is fantastic, but they have enough twinkle toed attacking midfielders. I don't see what he brings that Cazorla already doesn't. The £40mil going on a striker and a centre half would've suited them better.

Fantastic player though. So fair play.

Also, feck you, Storey.
With Cazorla playing out wide for the next 9 weeks they'll be able to be brilliant in tandem.

Maybe so, and I've not doubted his quality. I just don't think he strengthens an area where you were weak. It strengthens an area you were already strong in, and ignores an area or two where you aren't as strong. As evidenced by Bendtner now being your back-up striker. And Mertesacker, with his turning circle of a medium sized oil tanker being first choice centre half. Kind of like us ignoring centre midfiled for the last 78 years.

Again, fantastic player, and a statement of intent and proof of a willingness to spend cash, but not a necessity buy in my opinion. He'll improve you, but a striker and a centre half for £40mil the pair may have improved you more.

What's even more amazing than the signing itself, is how many friggin gooners reside on this forum! Is this an invasion or did they all just woke up from hibernation! That rhymes. Me Tupac.

You can feck off and all, with your shiny Bale and what-not.

I told my Dad (long suffering Arsenal fan) that they were signing Ozil earlier today, his reaction was probably the best thing about the day for me. Then had to spend hours waiting for the deal to be confirmed, would've broken his heart if they fecked it up.

Kinda glad for Wenger too, takes some of the pressure off his back. It still won't be enough for them though.

Probably suffering through having a wannabe Manc for a son. The utter shame of it.

That would make sense if the market valued Ozil more than Bale. It clearly doesn't.
I don't think the market value really matters here. They sold the better player for £40 million less then the one eh bought to replace him. Who gives a feck about commercial value when one player is just on a different level to the one you brought in.

Moany is a khunt. I still can't get over him stitching us up over Sahin last season.

That midfield is starting to look incredible. I feel like a player in one of those draft games who went ape shit on midfielders and conveniently ignored the defenders.

Wenger can force Silvestre out of retirement, surely?

Think we'll see a new dawn of old Arsenal this season. Some brilliant build up play only to try and walk it into the net or miss the chances too often. Some things clearly have changed though, what with Arsenal having a record signing far more expensive than even ours. Would have been a worry if they managed to get Higuain earlier on too.

Mourinho wouldn't sell us his day-old turds. He nixed the ba deal so there's no way he'd let us have Lukaku.

I was looking forward to having him back in the league, but he's just reminded me what a horrendous shithead he always was. Can't wait for Roman to turn on him again.

Silvestre isn't retired! He's scoring his trademark own goals for the Portland Timbers.

arsenal are going to play some really lovely football this season.

Unbelievable signing for Arsenal. I'd never had thought they'd spend that much on a player (ffs there record fee now out does ours, significantly!). I wanted us to sign Oezil when Madrid picked him up, incredibly gifted player, who I think will probably end Arsenal's trophy doubt unfortunately. Interesting to see how completely destroying there wage structure will work out in the long term (I think it needed to be scrapped anyway as you were pay your dross far too much and your best players far too little)

Arsenal still need a better fullbacks and another CB (Should have signed Sakho).

They can compete and win a domestic cup as in those competitions, anything can happen. When it comes to the league however, they still need a few more quality players.

Our fullbacks are fine but agree we could do with another CB. Sakho supposedly has attitude problems even though he's quality and that's something Wenger's avoided in young players, eg M'Vila.
But loved in others...eg Adebayor, Bendtner.

Gibbs and Jenkinson aren't good enough. Sagna has regressed over the last few seasons. Monreal doesn't look great. I'd say United, City, Chelsea, Spurs and probably Liverpool have better fullbacks than Arsenal.

I prefer ours to Spurs and Liverpool. Gibbs is good enough, Jenkinson maybe not. Monreal hasn't played enough for judgement. Sagna still has something left in him. It could be improved but I think it's good enough for now.
