Hazard on the other hand was an awful miss on the transfer market.. when I see guys like him and Oscar, they scream United for me... direct, flair and physically impressive, both are explosive players and on the counter- lethal as feck. Hate seeing them in Chelsea shirts.

He had a release clause, and everyone was in for him. Chelsea paid £8m signing on and £180,000 a week. A very large deal for a player of his experience.

We're one of the biggest clubs in the world, we should be chasing world class talent, not bloody Felliani, Baines and the bloke for Athletico.

Seeing clubs around us signing up huge stars makes me jealous. Arsenal signing Ozil just takes the absolute piss.

Herrera is class, but I agree about the others.

He was a player which was perfect for us though, a perfect Ronaldo replacement... a large deal yes but the scouting department is there for a reason, to assess whether certain players are worth the money. When I see big deals for guys like Veron, Berba... the one thing that strikes me as to why they're failures is that they're not dynamic footballers, whenever United have tried to sign guile players, we tend to fail... but flair players who are explosive, we tend to do well with - Hazard was ideal and worth splashing the cash on. He's worth more and for his age he was worth the gamble as he'd give plenty of years of service.

By offering the market value for a world class player who wants to leave his current club. We could learn a thing or two.
 arsenal are showing us how it's done.

Seriously, we've missed out big time. No worries, we have Valencia and young.

And Arsenal do?

Getting shat on by City and Chelsea as far as transfers go was all right but Arsenal?

To be fair to them they do have the money to spend now. The stadium and all the new commercial deals had to pay off at some time. As long as they're spending the club's money and not some rich owner, all power to them. The fans deserve it after a few summers of seeing their best players piss off to other clubs.

feck man I was laughing and taking the piss outta my Arsenal following colleagues all summer. Now I'm hiding in the toilet looking for the "taking a dump at work" thread :(

very angry that moyes didn't make a move for ozil.

over the summer he chased fabregas and could not land him, fair enough. suddenly ozil is available, and we just kept on trying to sign fellaini?

wake up moyesy!!!!!

It's not Moyes though; he hasn't got his hands on the purse strings.
I could imagine our entire transfer funds in an actual purse :(

Deal's not done, stop over-reacting. It's making me feel too good about something that's not done.

And those clubs seeing us lift the title 5 times in 7 years makes them jealous and is us taking the absolute piss out of them. Word class talent does not make or break a title winning team.

Almost breaking the league transfer record for a luxury buy who would get in the way of Kagawa's acclimatisation, hinder the development of a couple of very promising young players and wouldn't even play in his favoured position very often would be the height of transfer muppetry, lads. We're not going to spend that kind of money on a position we don't need improving.
It's a real sign of intent for Arsenal but it now means Cazorla is permanently pushed out wide which has already seen him become much less influential. Suárez is a cock but he would've been a far better signing for footballing reasons.
Pretty much. Excellent player but we have other pressing issues.

He's miles ahead of any winger that we have.

I understand but Fellaini and Herrera are just what we need, a solid three including Carrick will allow our attackers much more freedom and free up kagawa and Rooney role behind striker, letting them concentrate on attacking rather than tracking back. Plus side both new additions are 6ft+ which will make us more dangerous on set pieces. Ozil is W/Class but he and Januzaj are very similar, if we buy him and then we might have a pogba situation, were our outstanding Reserve gets impatient. If we miss out on Ozil so be it, I just hope Ronnie is coming nxt year and we get Baines just for his amazing delivery.

If the fee is 42m, the fabulous deal for arsenal. It's a no brainer to go for him really.

Yep, him and Cazorla will be great together.

Not too fussed about not getting him if reports of us close to getting Herrera are true. Never expected us to spend 80mil in the window.

He'd be an icon at this club, am sure of it. Chelsea sometimes really don't know how good they have it in players like Oscar and Hazard, they'd be worshipped like gods at clubs like ourselves and Liverpool because we're clubs which appreciate quality players.

Would walk into our team despite being played out of position. If Arsenal would buy him it would probably mean that we have the 5th best midfield in the country (including depth). That's an opinion based on little else but names on paper and a few games.

Complete bollox. There are only 20 world class players - you take them if you can get them.

Not when you already have 2 world class players in that very position and are already struggling to play 1 of them.

Yet another AM for Arsenal - granted this one is easily one of the best in the world but still it's funny Wenger always seems to buy hte exact same type of player.

:wenger:

ozil would immediately improve us that's for sure. if januzaj is good enough then he will get his chance. it is not like the situation where we played with park and rafael in midfield rather than pogba. not even close.

one thing for sure we should be able to bring in 2 or 3 or even 4 world class players no matter how good we already are. there is no room for sentimentality here and players like young hasn't done anything for us to even earn that.

Ozil would be close to the top of my list of "dream signings" if I made such a list so I'm hugely disappointment. Even the potential Herrera signing isn't exciting me at all now!

Agree with that. Some players you just have to go for whilst others may disagree for me he is one of them. You can build your team around someone with his ability.

I dont see how we can fit him in tbh. Not with Rooney here. I wouldnt like to see us play all 3 thus getting rid of width totally either. I'd be thrilled to get Herrera though I havent seen much of him. Just excited by what I've heard :D

Yeah but you're completely obsessed with Ozil, amol.
Not obsessed, but I think we all have certain players we really really like, no? He's fantastic. Elegant on the ball drifts past defenders, technically brilliant and creates for fun.

Plus our football has become increasing lacking in the very department be excels in, so there's that.
