Rumours are he will be allowed to play for us against Spurs, then fly back out to play for Cameroon, the guy is going to be knackered and jet lagged.

I can't imagine Cameroon agreeing to it, we play Spurs 14th and Cameroon play 15th - actually silly to even consider it

Unless they are content for him to miss the first match, given his form they might not be desperate to have him

I think Onana plays tonight and then leaves

Hojlund and Amad are must starts for me today.

Essentially I want us to play our full starting 11 that we have available but Amad instead of Rashford or Garnacho.

I read it on here somewhere that he flies out to play for Cameroon after the Spurs game, and may return for other games, EtH obviously doesn't think Byinder is up to it

Even a YouTube complication couldn’t make this guy look good .
Anyways I’m sure he’s not that bad Onana hasn’t exactly set the world alright either

Hag wants his first choice players and can you blame him? The pressure is crazy.

I'd assume it will be a best available team plus someone like Diallo over Antony (also probably the best option available on current form...)

And rightly so, what's the point in not going strong? We need the confidence and hopefully a few goals.

Hopefully put a strong 11 out tonight, Wigans recent form with a win against Carlisle and a draw with Barnsley could make this difficult for us.

Be very surprised if Rashford doesn't start this to do some stat padding.

Wait who we have available for the game even? I haven't seen any report coming today yet.

Rashford - Hojlund - Amad front 3 would be something to try if they all able to play.

Hope to see a strong team but obviously not full strength.

In theory this is a really nice game for Bayindir to settle in away from the full pressure cooker. He has a huge chance in the next few weeks to make life very difficult for Onana.

    I'd probably play:

    ----------------------------------------Bayindir------------------------------------
    AWB-------------------Kambwala--------Evans-------------Dalot
    -------------------------Mainoo--------------Eriksen------------------
    Amad----------------------------Bruno-----------------------Pellistri
    -------------------------------------Hojlund--------------------------------

Save Varane for the PL game - Unless the club doctors advise it's better he plays.

In reality we will probably start the likes of Rashford.

Team seems pretty set in stone for tonight
    Onana
    AWB Varane Evans Dalot
    Mainoo Eriksen
    Garnacho Bruno Rashford
    Hojlund

No excuse for anything less than a dominant win. Otherwise leave ETH to walk back from Wigan to collect his p45.

Also what the feck did we pay £5m for Bayindir for if we dont even let him play in the first round of the FA cup?

He's a fecking internationally capped goalkeeper. An 18 year old youth prospect could do the benchwarming job without pissing away £5m.

Can someone tell me why Mainoo came off last week when we had a week break and today we’re playing Wigan and any reserve player could play instead?

    Yeah, I agree with that.

It's just become so fashionable to think 'domestic cup / EL game? Give the kids a chance' that it just becomes automatic, regardless of the situation.

In our situation, there's absolutely no need to 'rest' any of our players. They've had over a week since the last game, 5 or 6 days until the next, and don't face a busy schedule between now and the end of the season.

This is a 'big game', in that it's in the only competition we can win and so one we can't afford to lose - so absolutely no need to start resting players for no particular reason other than 'that's what's done nowadays'.

As you say, most of our players (and the club itself) currently need a confidence booster of a good performance and some goals far more than any of them really need a rest.

I expect ETH restores McT to the starting XI alongside Eriksen and Bruno. Amad could get the start over Garnacho as well, I cannot see him dropping Rashford so quickly. Hojlund should come straight in.

    Onano
    AWB Varane Evans Dalot
    McT Eriksen
    Amad Bruno Rashford
    Hojlund

Hoping to see a good chunk of technical players and young guys like Mainoo, Garnacho, Hojlund and Amad starting this.

    Onana
    Dalot Kambwala Evans Shaw
    Mainoo Eriksen
    Amad Bruno Garnacho
    Hojlund

It's nothing to do with rest, you need your squad players up to speed for various obvious reasons. This is the easiest game of the season and if you don't give the squad players game time here then when exactly are they supposed to get up to speed? Or develop?

If we get injuries and players have to
come in we'll then have people complaining about the squad players underperforming.

Exact same shite as last season where people shifted from their being no need to rest to then complaining that the squad was tired as if it wasn't linked.

No need to rest anyone. Go full strength and even we can't screw this up then. Easy 4:0 win.
Do i need to remind you of when we had another crazy dutchman in charge and went to play MK Dons :nervous:

Yeah, I know that reasoning. And that's fine for a bit of squad rotation, for genuine first team squad players and when it's necessary.

What I disagree with is the 'same shite' each season when only the PL and CL games are regarded as serious, and when people want to go with blanket changes and a huge amount of kids getting opportunities. I think that thinking goes way farther than just rotating in a few legitimate squad options that you'd happily start with in a PL / CL match.

Somehow always forget this game when you think of the worst performances and results we've ever had. 4-0 defeat to a league 2 side, brutal

They were actually a league 1 team, and were promoted to the championship at the end of that season with the likes of Dele Alli, Will Grigg, Benik Afobe, Ben Reeves, etc, getting plenty of goals and assists.

But, still, an awful effort to get hammered like that. I think Van Gaal really underrated how strong a League One team they were that season.

We also lost at home to League One Leeds of course (as well as drawing with non-league Exeter, and League Cup defeats to the likes of York and Southend.)

Play some kids, but not a full XI of kids. We really shouldn't go full strength into this one, given the opponent and the competition.

Just realised it’s a 8:15 kick off. Any reason why? Thought it would have been an 8 kick off.

You just know he’s gonna. Can’t risk anything. He’s desperate for a trophy to keep onto his job.

    The FA Cup!?

I understand (regardless of whether I agree) the opponent part, but why does it being the FA Cup mean it not warranting a full strength side? Especially as it's the only cup we're left in.

It is wise to try and forget it.
Louie rotated a lot that time in fairness. Will not happen tonight.
