i really have to quit redcafe. the senseless bashing of our players even before a ball is kicked is totally unacceptable. fred was one of the best players on thuesday, why he and mct who also did well imo last season get criticized is not clear. some on here are so negative they will even mock the players after a clear 3-0 win

There's an ignore button for a reason. :)

Relieved to see McTominay back. Fred is half the player without him, Matic simply doesn't have the legs to cover the same ground as him, and Pogba shouldn't be doing the same job as him.

I am just praying that Scot's up to speed. He's not had any games to play himself back into it after his surgery. I don't think its an exaggeration to say that, to a large extent, what we get out of today's game will depend on how well we compete in midfield.

McFred got us to 2nd and a final. It's not them why we didn't win either.

    Decent lineup.

Only thing I disagree with is McFred Midfield as I think with our attacking options we have to move away from it.

Pogba and McTominay should be the pair we are trying to build chemistry between.

    It has the best balance.

With Rashford out we can keep putting Pogba on the wing but once he is back Pogba has to go to Midfield.

We can't drop him because then we will have no on the ball control since he is the one providing that even when he starts on the left.

Good team. Our strongest current 11 and glad to see Pogba back on the Lw.

McFred got us to 2nd and a final. It's not them why we didn't win either.

Fred cost us a semi final though.

They're just as much to blame as anyone else.

They protect the defense better but cost us on the ball control and passing ability.

We will have to try move away from them as a pair as it does hold us back in Certain areas.

Excellent team. Our best 11 right now for sure. Let's see how that translates into performance.

My only gripe is no youngsters on the bench. This is where Lingard IMO is a problem. That place should go for Mejbri or Shoretire or Amad when fit.

It is the line up I expected. Especially after the training video on United's Youtube a couple of days ago and how McTominay was involved.

With the possible exception of Sancho for Greenwood that's our strongest lineup.

If we can't win with these players we have big problems.

    Starting XI:

    De Gea

    Wan-Bissaka - Varane - Maguire - Shaw

    McTominay - Fred

    Greenwood - Fernandes - Pogba

    Ronaldo

Subs: Heaton, Dalot, Lindelof, Bailly, Matic, Van De Beek, Sancho, Lingard, Martial

Score Prediction: West Ham United 0-2 Manchester United
    spot on with the line-up

They were all over us the away game last season but our lineup and formation were a bit shit.
In the Cup game? They sat back and didn't try anything. They couldn't field Lingard that day. They'll have neither him nor Antonio this time around.

    Short of a fully-firing Sancho, I'd agree.

Although, it's debatable how much more he brings to the table than Greenwood.
Which is why it was puzzling that we prioritised Sancho above at least one quality box to box, all action creative midfielder. And i dont mean Declan Rice

Can't help but feel McT has been a bit rushed back from injury.

Unless we're not believing what has been said, but wasn't he supposed to be within a shout of playing some part against Newcastle, considered likely against Young Boys? Hopefully that's the case and him playing today is a sign of Ole learning to protect his players and nurture them through the injury layoffs, rather than what's gone on before.

Even though I am worried and felt the young boys defeat was a disaster, Roy Keane here being more measured. Hopefully he is right. I do worry about the performances though, results usually match the performances.

Wrong. Lingard is a quality option for United.

I'd agree with you. Hopefully Sancho proves his quality over time but really not that confident as far as I'm concerned that he is a good fit (not saying he ain't good enough just to be precise).

I am supportive of Ole but he is an idiot for continuing to pick Fred ahead of VdB. Fred is so poor that VdB can’t possibly be worse. Just cannot possibly be worse. How bad does VdB need to be in training to not get picked ahead of Fred!?

What has Ole got to lose by giving VdB a run of 5-10 games next to McSauce? I just cannot understand it which suggests it might be something personal. Either that or Ole has a stubborn streak which is not good and might come back and bite him in the backside.

Journalists should ask this Fred/VdB question directly. Very bizarre.
    He can easily be worse.

Cant go into this game passive and defensive. This game raising team and crowd will be all over us. Play positive to win

McFred, Ole reverting to the safety first approach line up he is comfortable with despite adding Varane and playing west ham.
We could get Baresi and Nesta in defence and we'd still go with McFred because we dont know how to dominate play.

So basically this full season we have to play double pivot, or at least till Jan if we sign a CDM.

Pogba can't be trusted as a number 6. Great player if given freedom. He is not good with defensive responsibility I'm afraid.
