Sadly the strongest team we can pick. Its so unsexy, but thats what you get when not prioritizing the midfield Ole. Its a failsafe team that will get him top four and prevent sacking in the longrun, but forget silverware.

Nice to see Scotty there. A little surprised that Sancho has been dropped, but there again he would probably have to come in for Greenwood and I guess that wouldn't be fair. I hope he can find his feet in this team though.

We’ve been playing without McFred the last few games and have been much worse. The simple fact is we’re better with this combination. It’s not pure defensive, McT offers a lot more going forward than he’s given credit for.

Sancho is probably on the bench because he's not really been ready. And it's great to have him as an option from the bench. He'll eventually get up to speed. He started last season poorly too, after that failed transfer.

Fred and McTominay will at least give us the energy we need in a tough midfield battle today.

West Ham away is a rough ground with a lot of hard running to quell their desire; Sancho not starting this one was a wise choice, plus he could have a big say on the outcome off the bench.

How so? Given the traits and shortcomings of all our midfield options, at least McFred showed to be able to engage in a midfield battle and win it. This is an option that at least make sense, while Fred next to Pogba or Matic doesn't really work, we stay unbalanced against the ball and aren't particularly better off offensively.

McFred may be not the greatest in the world but maybe they can provide the platform for our attackers to express themselves. Having Pogs in midfield as well makes sure we still have good creativity on the field.
