Looking forward to this game with a strange mix of optimism and dread!
Optimism because its knockout football and anything can happen including a United win.
Dread because its West Ham away, good well managed United sides have been turned over there.
God knows what will happen to this lot....

I wish LVG was the dominant poster on match day threads on red cafe. If I didn't get to watch the game live I could tune in and even if in the real world be are fending off attack after attack and 3-0 down I'd be happier with his take..."they don't create much I think".

I fully expect us to turn up (hopefully on time) get on the pitch for kick off

then the usual story will happen this resulting in a 3-0 loss

    De Gea
    Valencia Smalling Blind Rojo
    Schneiderlin Herrera
    Lingard
    Rasford Rooney Martial

You'd seriously want to start Rooney tomorrow?

Probably our final chance of actual achievement this season and you'd start Rooney, who has played only 60 mins (in which he did nothing of note) in 3 months, against a very good West Ham? :wenger:
    De Gea
    Fosu-Mensah Smalling Blind Rojo
    Scheiderlin Herrera
    Lingard Mata Martial
    Rashford
Id prefer CBJ to Rojo, but questions over his fitness.

Chances are Carrick will be starting over Herrera and we'll see Lingard in the no.10 role again over Mata. Fosu-Mensah will be tasked with man marking Payet (like Ericksen) so we'll we Mata as a right wing back again. LvG :wenger::wenger::wenger::wenger::wenger:

Like someone said I could just see him chucking Fellaini in there somewhere. Knowing this coward he will go for penalties with a side where I would only trust around three of them to actually take one.

Surprisingly very little of Fellaini seen in these line-up predictions considering LvG will be basing his whole game-plan on coming up with something to cancel out "The Andy Carroll show"!

We've unfortunately become that sad that it seems our teams are now picked on "how not to lose" rather than "to win".

I have no idea why as we're clearly the worst team, but I'm saying a 1-0 win. Just because it's getting to that stage again where you think we're nearing rock bottom,

I agree that we are not great right now, but we can definitely go lower.
December was our lowest point where we lost/drew every game.

You know, aiming for 0-0 score line, would actually make sense.
We'll play like we are playing Barcelona, so play ultra defensively.
Then hope for penalties, where footballing ability/tactics are largely removed from the equation.

The problem with penalties is that we were involved in a shoot-out against Middlesborough a few months back. And we were horrendous. I think we scored 1 out of 4 (somebody correct me if I am wrong).

If Rooney takes Rashfords place tomorrow i'm honestly done with watching United with this clown as our manager.

Our penalties have been shite for a while.
There was the sunderland match in moyes year too. Got about 1 in 5 or so?

We might have got through against Middlesborough if he hadn't decided that Herrera and Mata didn't need to be involved at all.

I'm actually looking forward to the end of season review on DVD already.

I've enjoyed the ones after Fergie as there've been relishable highlights like the Fulham Crossing Extravaganza and Did A Man Called Steve Round Really Sit in the OT Dugout.

This time, however, there'll be accompanying matinee to the LVG Theatre of Dreariness.

Sideways and Coma are two films I've chosen. Better entertainment.

In fairness, our entire team were terrible in that game. I think Pereira was the highest rated player that game and he was below average.
I remember commenting that had we played another 2 hours, we still would not have scored a goal.
Even the commentators were joking about LVG leaving the game early to avoid the traffic, because he had slumped in his seat and was sitting very low.
    The entire stadium was bored.
For me, that was the worst match we have played this season.

Incidentally, the match day thread for that game was a lot of fun. Far better than the game itself.
I remember when Rooney stepped up to take the first penalty. No fear. He'll score. Captain Fantastic. "My Captain shall always play!!!" And missed.
For those who have the time try digging out that thread, and go to the penalty shoot-out threadmark - very funny. ;)

Rooney is in the squad for tomorrow's game by the way.

And he's more than capable of scoring the winning goal for a club he often carried in the past....
Maybe if it was in 7/8 games times, but if it is the usual he won't be anywhere near ready. Will use the rest of the season to get fit for the important one, the euros and then get injured while out there.

Would be great for the club to win the first meaningful trophy post SAF. Not confident, though.

Can this season be over already? Just stand watching any more games. Going to be disappointed again tomorrow.

Do the necessary changes to defence, Herrera > Morgan and Memphis > Lingard and we'll twat them 0-2,3.. Rooney to score the last one.

Don't really care, I'd like to see some players given a rest and some that haven't played given game time.

    De Gea
    Mensah....Jones....Rojo....Jackson
    Morgan
    Herrera..........Pereira
    Young....................................Depay
    Rooney

    The LVG Special

    Romero
    Mensah....Rooney....Rashford....CBJ
    Morgan
    Herrera..........Fellaini
    De Gea
    Young....Smalling

Interesting kick off time. Least I can catch a bit of the CL now.
