We've only really been poor v Brighton and 25 mins v Spurs.
Other than that I would put our performances up against anything Liverpool have produced.

Smart finish from Rom. Great set-pieces. The floated ball to the big man on the on the edge of the area from which we scored was one routine Young did for England at the WC. Brilliant from Smalling to score and he has defended manfully too. Pogba unlucky not to have scored.

The same moany posters always disappear after we score and they can't spread their nonsense

Matic Pogba fellaini - brilliant brilliant. Who would have thought?

I'm not that impressed from what Matic is doing there. He's very conservative with his passing considering the freedom he has with Fellaini being the one dropping deeper.

It's not bad or anything, it's just a very basic midfield performance for me.

Not sitting back, away, winning 2-0. That is the best part.

Giggsy or Neville? I say give it to Carrick after (I hope 3-4 years at least).

We were good against Spurs too but I think this attacking intent should have started against Burnley and not Spurs.

Great response from us after the first goal! Usually we sit back after scoring, but we pressed on and took advantage of the momentum today, and could’ve had another couple of goals to show for it!

Hope that’s a strategy we keep pursuing in the future.

It does seem like, for periods at least, we play a more offensive system with higher pressing. Only for periods mind but there is change underway I believe.
To be honest the changes in how we play are massive compared to last season. The overall quality might not be there currently but it’s like Jose has been replaced already. Even just how far up t
He pitch Smalling and Lindelof are going.

Matic Pogba fellaini - brilliant brilliant. Who would have thought?
They have complemented each other beautifully. I love seeing Pogba free to go forward. He has been unlucky not to score.

Wont say Sanchez underperformed. We just don't pass to him in right areas.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves but I agree we've been slowly improving.
Liverpool haven't played as well as the hype while a Jose side has mauled sides at times this season.
We're only 5 games in as well!

Pogba is brilliant so far. His sense of position, picking up players with long pass, hold up game.. everything was top class. Only had he finished those chances....

Excellent first half after a short spell of pressure from Watford. The midfield is working, though Fred would probably come in for Matic in that role for some games. But the main reason we have balance in midfield is Fellaini and nobody can deny that.

The football's certainly taken a turn for the better. More players trying to go direct is good to see, rather than always crossing or passing to Lukaku. The only element we need to add now would be some pressing, there's still a total lack of pressing which might hurt us in some games.
    Good analysis, mate.

Poor movement still mostly, but Jose has outclassed the opposition coach tactically. The fullbacks are getting all kinds of space. Largely dominant in the air and totally dominant at set pieces so far. If we could up the tempo round their box we'd score a hatful.

Double pivot working good for us. Frees up Pogba quite a lot

Been well on top since the first goal. Pogba really unlucky not to be on the scoresheet.

He really could put up some big numbers if some of these shots were to start going in for him.

This will inevitably become tense at some point in the second half.

And we switch back to the studio, where a bunch of bemused morons are having to explain against their will why United actually did quite well in that first half
Isn't it just absolutely brilliant? You could almost hear the desperation in the commentators for Lukaku to be offside for his goal.

He's been active and had a good chance. I think he's been ok.

Agreed. Sanchez doesn't get half the credit he deserves. Just needs a few more goals to cement his worth in the team.

the first match was not good. Brighton was utter crap. Got the midfield completely wrong. I actually felt better after the Spurs match. We missed chances we would otherwise have scored if players had a better pre-season.
    And Jones had a mare.

Burnley was a big turning point.

    We are showing here again.

Need another 45 minutes like that.
