If we win I hope we don’t do a John Terry and have Baz Maguire lifting the trophy in a full-kit despite being out. Who will our captain be?

I think the unofficial vice is very much Bruno at the moment. Pogba has been captain a few times, but I think he’s third choice.

I would have no qualms with this personally. Deserves to lift the trophy, possibly alongside Bruno? Bruno will almost definatley be captain on the night think

Can see Phil Jones starting and the Caf is down until Thursday morning despite a 3-1 win.

First time to wear red shirts and black shorts in a European cup final.

    1968 - blue
    1991 - white
    1999 - red and white
    2008 - red and white
    2009 - white and black
    2011 - white
    2017 - blue

    How ridiculous!

White shorts are really going to clash with bright yellow aren't they?!

I really love the idea and the lineup, but I don't think Ole is going to switch to a 4-1-4-1 for a championship game and he's not going to start Donny.

Let me try to break your post down .The issue is not bringing keepers along it is why does he bring 4 when everybody else brings 3. Surely our football or training is not so unique that we require it. I think having an outfield player instead of that 4th keeper spot is better. It's obviously not about the budget it's a footballing decision. As for what I bolded I don't even know what you mean. We have an extra top keeper on the bench but we still need 2 more?

Again, it's the travelling squad, it's not limited to a set amount of players. He could leave a keeper home, but that doesn't mean he will bring another outfield player instead. He didn't bring Hannibal now cause he hasn't been part of training with the first team much, and a final is not the place for him to hang out with the squad and potentially distract the other players if he's not even gonna be on the bench.

As for your bolded part, it was pointing out how you said most teams have 3 keepers involved around their first team. But they rarely have 2 worthy of being starting keepers at the same time as we do now this season. So it makes more sense that we have a keeper more involved in the squad than the average other club.

Even so, what's the problem with him bringing more keepers than other clubs do? There is no limit on travelling squad. You normally bring everyone who's eligble to play unless they are injured or need a rest. That's normally a squad of 25 players (Designated at start of season and altered in January) + maybe some U21 youngsters (and for Europe they have to have been at the club for a few years as well or they have to be part of the 25 man squad, like Amad is now).
Then trim it down to a matchday squad of 23 (20 when not corona) on the final day of training.

Well done Mason. Super proud of you.

I never said it's not a European trophy or it doesn't have history behind it. It's below the fa cup and above the league cup in terms of importance for me put it that way.

I'd put the europa league and the fa cup at par with each other and both are the 3rd most important trophy after the league and cl. Btw its only on par with the fa cup because of the strength of the league. 20 years ago the europa league/uefa cup was higher in the hierarchy than the fa cup.

Although the fa and uefa seem to think the europa league is bigger than the fa cup because by winning the fa cup you get into the europa league while winning the europa league gets you into champions league.

We've already qualified for the CL so take that out of the equation. This is really about the mentality of the club and players. This is quite a young squad and they need learn how to win trophies and how to deal with pressure in finals. That isn't something that Ole can instill in the players and it's something that as a young player you have to learn if you want to be champions and compete regularly for trophies.

    Oles first real test?

I'm not sure as i honestly think getting to the finals after losing in the last 3 semifinals was really the first true test of his ability to manage this group. I think this is really more about the true test for the players and do they have the ability to push themselves into a championship winning side. This won't be about tactics tomorrow as they've seen plenty of Villareal. This is about the players and can they produce the goods when everything is on the line. Will big players step up like Rashford, Bruno, Mason, Cavani and do the job.

His performance was outstanding, especially for a young lad playing in his first European final. The MotM award is fully deserved.

The double-pivot into an overhead kick that sent the ball rifling into the top right-hand corner was particularly impressive, I thought.

Unfortunately looks like Maguire hasn't made it, big loss that which could result in us losing the final :(

The other two he scored were better.

People really saying this is not a big competition? Wow! All the trophies are big and great to win!!

Football must be very dull for these people as apparently the only two trophies worth winning are the League and Champions League.

Huge game on Wednesday. Ole needs a trophy and it really could kick start the team and give them a taste of success. Predicting Cavani will be the game winner.
    Bang on.

So Maguire makes the traveling squad, which means fuk all, and Martial sits his sorry ass back in Manchester.

We should sell both the french players as one thinks his influence is more important that his performances and the other is a pu$$y. I'll let you determine which is which.

    Hopefully to lift the trophy.
