Huge game tomorrow (tonite for you euro folks). Very excited. I'm not that bothered with Maguire not starting as I rate Tuanzebe. More importantly I think they need to be a lot more worried about our attack.

I’m just happy for the players too that what has essentially been a 2 year season is finally coming to an end. Shame most will be on international duty, but an opportunity to retreat and recharge would be much needed I suspect.

I feel confident with Cavani starting up top. He will get his chances and he will convert tomorrow. We got Rashford who can play on both sides and we got Greenwood who's proved to be a clinical finisher. I'm not too worried about our forward. I am worried that if the players do not turnup tomorrow and play in their 100% capacity. I can see tomorrow either going by the plan or going really wrong. If United do not score in the first half, we will be nervous on the second half and it will be a huge boost of confidence for the Villareal players. We have to perform. We have to turnup. They will beat us if we are not at our 100%. 2-0 to United, Pogba and Cavani to score. GGMU!

Feels like United have already faced their toughest test in this competition (Milan). Villarreal is a solid team, but it’s hard to see them winning this.

Villareal is well drilled team but I feel like the occasion will get the better of them and they'll shit themselves on the final.

Comes down to which United turn up. I know we've been the comeback kings this season but I'll be very worried if we start slow and go a goal down. Gotta start fast and get in their faces.

Pogba doesn't give away a stupid penalty or free kick in a danagerous area, we don't get done with a far post cross and Lindelof doesn't get outmuscled by a midget and we should be fine.

Go out and boss the game from the start. Anything can happen in a final but, just like Barcelona dominated us in the CL finals, we should be doing the same in this game. And the gulf in class is not even as much as it was for those games.

Good luck United. Don't let yourselves down tonight and leave it all out there to finish the season well. Been a tough, weird period in life and football in general so finishing with silverware and second place would be a good achievement.

As much as some will play it down this is really a big deal to this group of players and perhaps more so Ole.

Come on lads. Don't disappoint us. We've right behind you!

Finally starting to get nervous about this game. Feels good to be in a final.

I feel like Maguire will start, if not we will need Lindelof to lead the back line. Just play to our ability and without panic and we should find a way to win this game.

    Cup final day!!

    Cannot wait for this game!!

    Do it for Sir Matt.

We are a better side and their goalkeeper is dodgy, needs tested. Some players have the experience of Stockholm in this squad. Huge night for Villarreal and Emery has big tactical plans for us, that's fine but we get it right at the back and his plan won't matter. I've always said that favourites usually win finals and we have gamechagers and experience, this team can beat anyone in world football on it it's day. No excuses now though, time to deliver.

    Based on what?
Based on if I say it enough times it becomes true.

I still think he will start, he was kitted up for training last night, didn't take part in the open session but you can sure as hell bet that he took part in some capacity later on.

    Where's everyone watching tonight?

Me and a couple of mates (although one of them is a scouser) going to have couple of drinks in a socially distanced pub, lovely stuff

Think it is longest we have gone without a trophy since we won the 1990 FA Cup

It’s massively important. I am not sure why but today’s means more to me than Jose’s final in in 2017. In fact for me it’s the biggest game in post Fergie era.

The work Ole has put in these last 2.5 seasons to rebuild the squad, bring through a lot of youth all with having to put up with an awful lot of criticism from the press and some of the clubs own supporters.

From being perhaps on the brink of the sack following the Spurs defeat and what was an horrific start of the season, to finishing 2nd and perhaps a European trophy. I will be chuffed for Ole more than anyone if he brings it home,

Please no Rashford on the right! Doesn't look like Maguire will make it unfortunately, hoping we have enough to see them off but it will be a tight game!

Tonight is a mental test, talent wise - particularly up front - it's a mismatch.

What villareal and their coach have is all the game management tricks. They'll slow the pace to a crawl, they'll milk every challenge of ours demanding cards from the outset. We have to stand up to this and force ourselves on them. If we let them drag us into the trenches we're in trouble.

Pogba, Bruno, Rashford, Cavani and Shaw have to show their quality, with Greenwood supporting from the bench. These 6 players should have more than enough to win this game

Who would you start on the right wing?

There was a stat posted yesterday that showed Rashford is more productive and has better numbers (and by a fair bit) when he's been played on the right this season. I had to take a double take of it because certainly doesn't seem like that, but apparently so.

    Honestly think it will be.

He won't want to drop Pogba or Rashford for a final, I can see Greenwood being used as the impact sub to change the game.

If I HAD to bet, I think he'd start Pogba. Purely because villareal under Emery will setup to be defensive and counter attack, Pogba is better at holding possession in tight spaces.

If the match does get stretched bringing on a fresh Rashford could be key.

Anybody off to the Old Nags Head, or anywhere in Manchester?

I'm getting the train in from 12 today, big sesh-on. Hotel booked, the lot.

    C'mon United!

The match day banner, thread title and score prediction box all have the wrong spelling of Villarreal as Villareal.

I searched Villareal and there's only a few fan social media type results then quickly goes on to people with the surname Villareal. Thought it might be a common dual spelling of the club but doesn't seem like it. Surprising just how many random sites have it spelled correctly when you search for Villarreal.

Not going to look good if we get beat and can't even spell it.

Got to hope our experience will come into effect here.

The likes of Pogba and Cavani who have been there and seen it all. Bruno's been in a major final before.

I suspect DDG will get the shout in goal also.

It's a nice feeling knowing that even if we did manage to go 1-0 down, there's no better team right now to turn that around.

    Just can't wait for 8pm!

I’m watching at the cinema in Printworks. Strange one but thought I would try something different. Has anyone else ever done similar?

We’re on BT. Whenever I watched on BT midweek we’ve been fine; Sky we’ve been a bit crap.
I’m not one for omens but it’s also Sir Matt’s birthday and we won in ‘99 on May 26th.

Like I say, not placing any faith in omens :wenger:

I heard about this option, but my issue is I'll be about 10 pints deep by then....! Not the best in a cinema haha. Do you know if it sold out?

No idea mate - we ordered ours a couple weeks ago. I’m guessing it’s not going to be typical cinema conditions  hopefully anyway

Will be little work done for the rest of the day now.

Can anyone recommend a good written preview for tonight?

Does everyone get the pre match nerves this early? fecking 9 hours till the game

    I'm with you here.

Woke up at 6am absolutely buzzing, am just coasting through work constantly looking at the clock...

    Nerves kicking in already!

What's worse/better to win the EL because you failed to go past the group stage in UCL or to get eliminated in quarter finals of UCL?

Personally I would take the quarter finals, but I can understand some people preferring the EL title.

EL because you don’t get a trophy for getting to the quarters of the CL and then failing.

We desperately need to start winning trophies and tonight will be a perfect opportunity to kickstart that.
