Need Carrick to come on for Fellaini and Pereirra to come on for Lingard.

The ball isn't sticking with us. Fellaini keeps running off to Depay's space and leaves the whole midfield to BFS alone. He isn't even in a position to EVER receive the ball from BFS.

    Studio thinks it was offside.
It isn't surprise. Leave the bias aside, and it suddenly becomes a very easy decision (especially with the new rules).

People should stop moaning. It was a clear offside.

As some have highlighted, correct decision but not often you see ref actually overturn after conferring with colleagues. Neymar had a similar goal disallowed against Rayo

Some good action on both ends, Lingard giving a spark while Mata always a joy. The hogrider showing his age

    Draxler with some lovely skills

Can't remember seeing such nativity in a top class team before.

For a few moments, I felt that strange feeling of Germany running through Brazil at will during the last World Cup.

Our big problem now is I can't see how we will stop Wolfsburg scoring at least one more goal unless we deploy a park the bus plan.

Lastly, it was clearly off side for me. Of course Mata was interfering with play! Don't see why it's even vaguely controversial.

A massive 45 mins ahead. I can't see how we come out on top.

I've never seen a worse midfield pair since Djemba Djemba & Liam Miller. Chaos, slowness, incompetence.

On second viewing the referees didn't even look at the Wolfsburg players. The assistant linesman talked with the referee then after decided it was offside. Good decision, giving himself time to think about it.
Hmm, i saw Dante and someone else shouting at the lino. I think he noticed them.

Our defense is poor. It has been masked for the last 18 months by the philosophy.

Our signings under LVG have been poor.

He has left our squad 3-4 senior proven players short.

The PL must be awful if we are contenders.

These are the harsh truths I am seeing. it's not nice. :(

can't argue with any of this.....

Yeah considering utterly dreadful piece of shit squad that won us the league at a canter in 2012-13 we should have spent £800m to even have a chance. We should hate every single member of that team, hateful inexpensive cnuts.

Won against mediocre opposition and thanks to a stunning season from RVP. Who subsequently decline rapidly.

He has to move towards the ball to be offside. He could stand in front of the keeper and he wouldn't be offside as long as he didn't make a move towards the ball.
I take it you have the rules handy that say exactly that? It seems unlikely. To be standing a few inches in front of the keeper for example and not be flagged because you're stood fairly still would be absurd.

We can't even play to our 'strengths' today lol. Wolfsburg have been more comfortable in possession than us by far and

Varela looks petrified everytime someone comes near him and slips worse than Steven Gerrard every minute. Which is a shame because the couple of times he put in a tackle, he won the ball. CBJ looks like the defensive version of martial in that he is calm as shit and seemed to defend decently too though its just 5 mins or so. All in all, its going to be a bumpy 45 minutes

Very weak officiating. Influenced by players.

Not exactly sure why Carrick is on the bench. He would be perfect for this game. Wolfsburg aren't liking it when we pass the ball forward quickly.
Think he's got to Come on for bastian, he's been shocking tonight tbh.

I just don't understand the tactic in this game.

Sure, we know chances are we will have to win to qualify, but the priority must be on not losing first. Carrick in midfield, Young LB. Keep it tight, work the ball around and go for it when Wolfsburg overcommit. We know we can score against them.

Being this defensively poor against them is a disgrace. They should've been 4 up.

I don't even think LVG has set the team to not be about possession, I think the Germans are pressing the team much better than most PL teams have so far and it's showing. Our team is a wannabe Barcelona/Bayern team with possession. When the pressure is really on, it loses its cojones.

Agreed. The way Wolfsburg moved the ball for their second, we need to move it all the time.

What was the linesman actually discussing with the ref before giving it offside? Is that fecker unaware of how the offside works and needed clarification on the rule?!

Can't see the point of Fellaini at all this game. Blocked a Mata shot, missed an open header, otherwise completely uninvolved in the game.

He trots behind people. Usually when they have the ball, he trots behind watching where they're gong.

Maybe he's confused and looking for the way out. Like when you get lost at a gig and need a piss so follow a random bloke through the crown hoping he's going for a piss as well, but you end up back at the bar, again.

We've caused a shootout of a game with our tactics and selection but so far we're losing the shootout. Hopefully we can hit back in the next 45 and outgun the bastards.

Smalling is playing his worst game tonight and Blind has put our defence under pressure with a couple of bad passes and losing the ball.

We have so many injuries now - about 8 first team players out !

I agree that we aren't doing great with the pressure but it also looks like we are more attacking and less possession oriented than usual. We are definitely more open and risky than normal today imo.

Basti is not having a great game but it is just worsened by Fellaini just being a passenger until we get the ball out wide. Get a player that can actually be bothered to do something wherever the ball is

To be honest, if we lose it isn't LVG's fault. He's clearly told the players they must win, and has put out an attacking lineup. The players have been at fault thus far, they haven't shown enough intelligence and haven't shown enough heart.
Today's game isn't the point, the damage was done drawing 0-0 at home to PSV. We've left ourselves a mountain to climb before a ball was even kicked tonight.

Schweinsteiger has been the worst player on the pitch. Shocking that he of all players is so poor.
