That Wolfsburg defensive line is there for the taking though. Look how easily Martial could run away from them. One through ball is enough.
How many of the team out there are fighters? Battlers? I do not see the characters needed to pull this out, failure to qualify will be a disaster and there needs to be a serious squad overhaul and that includes the manager, smiler and the mannequin.
Nope 8 players who are fullbacks, we are now down to the last 2.It's 7 to cover 4 isn't it? And considering one of those people is Phil Jones...
"You only sing when we're winning, sing when we're winnniiinnnnngggg"
We can't even play to our 'strengths' today lol. Wolfsburg have been more comfortable in possession than us by far and
Maybe, it just feels to me that if the question is over whether he interfered the lino should be able to see that.
But meh, whatever, ultimately its the right call.
To be honest, if we lose it isn't LVG's fault. He's clearly told the players they must win, and has put out an attacking lineup. The players have been at fault thus far, they haven't shown enough intelligence and haven't shown enough heart.
Schweinstiger and Darmian shocking defensively.
We seem to be pressing higher as a group more often than I remember of late.I agree that we aren't doing great with the pressure but it also looks like we are more attacking and less possession oriented than usual. We are definitely more open and risky than normal today imo.
Wolfsburg are a bit shit at defending the through ball, we should be trying them even more than we have been. I'd much rather see us overhit a through ball and try something than pass it out to the wing only to see it recycled back again.
Don't fancy our chances but in honesty I don't really give a shit, pretty clear as a team we are still 2-3 years away from actually impacting this competition. Europa league run might be fun.
Nothing to do with this particular match though. I understand your frustration but we are kinda bad so nothing should be used to excuse our own failures.
Oh, right. And another one just came to mind:Park-Rafael vs Blackburn...
Yeah only 89 points. That was very easy season.Won against mediocre opposition and thanks to a stunning season from RVP. Who subsequently decline rapidly.
Under the new rules, old skool rules says it's a goal which I think is where some of the confusion is coming from.It isn't surprise. Leave the bias aside, and it suddenly becomes a very easy decision (especially with the new rules).
People should stop moaning. It was a clear offside.
I really want him out.
sick of this.
Can't remember seeing such nativity in a top class team before.
For a few moments, I felt that strange feeling of Germany running through Brazil at will during the last World Cup.
Our big problem now is I can't see how we will stop Wolfsburg scoring at least one more goal unless we deploy a park the bus plan.
Lastly, it was clearly off side for me. Of course Mata was interfering with play! Don't see why it's even vaguely controversial.
A massive 45 mins ahead. I can't see how we come out on top.

In that case the ref should override the linesman, no? Why did the linesman raise the flag? I admit, I do not know every technicality in the rule book.
Right is your opinion. If you watched the replay you would see he didn't interfere with play at all. And simple technology like a stop-clock would mean we properly had 5 minutes added on rather than the 2 minutes despite play being stopped for far longer.
If you seriously think the linesman would've called it offside anyway without player pressure, why the hell did the entire Wolfsburg team surround him? Disgrace.
Need someone creative outwide too.
Depay and Lingard offering little.

Both him and fellaini have been pretty useless. Not controlling the game at all for us today. We need Carrick in there.Schweinsteiger has been the worst player on the pitch. Shocking that he of all players is so poor.
Not sure about Fellaini.Schweinsteiger has been the worst player on the pitch. Shocking that he of all players is so poor.
Any good player must feel when he is offside, sure if it's some inches you can't feel it, but Mata was miles offside, so it does not matter whether you believe it's going in or not, if you move towards the ball it's a offside, simple as that.comeon son, no one thought that lucky cross was going in.
there was much more chance it'd be there for Mata to put in.
He couldn't just stop moving, as we'd all have been cursing no one being in there
in conclusion all in though, this is horrible, and it turns out our defence isn't that great when we have to score!
What the heck was Smalling doing at 2-1 down when they had that breakaway, went way too far one way, meaning their man had a very very obvious ball in. Very lucky not to be 3-1 down.
Ultra reliant on CSKA doing us a humongous favour here!
There's no way this bunch of kids is scoring two more here
Yeah effectively we are playing with no defensive midfielder which is why we look so exposed to those late runs.So does every single United player.
He allowed things to tick and consistently provided cover for the back four. We look so disorganized without him.
Not having Schneiderlin there is affecting the entire defense, bar Blind who is always very calm. The other defenders have been panicking.Smalling was very poor in the first half. Unusual for him.
Been brutal defensively, genuinely doesn't look like a CB tonight.
Schweinsteiger has been the worst player on the pitch. Shocking that he of all players is so poor.

Google it. You have to make an obvious movement towards the ball. I don't see how Mata did that. His position played no part in the ball going in.I take it you have the rules handy that say exactly that? It seems unlikely. To be standing a few inches in front of the keeper for example and not be flagged because you're stood fairly still would be absurd.
