    As if anything the players have to say matters in such a situation. The linesman was probably checking with the main ref if Mata was in Benaglio's field of view or something.

    I know that it is the right call, but the fact that the linesman only put his flag up WELL AFTER the goal just because the players whined at him is disgraceful.

    He has to move towards the ball to be offside. He could stand in front of the keeper and he wouldn't be offside as long as he didn't make a move towards the ball.
     
    We need to shore up the midfield to help against their forwards interchanging but we've got what we need in attack to get 2 goals imo.

    More than likely waiting for the ref to confirm Mata interfered with play I'd say. They were clearly communicating.

    He didn't move because of Mata, who was, himself, moving. It's pretty obvious from looking at the replay. Believe whatever you want to though.
     
    I'm sorry but Fellaini as an attacker and this one man midfield of Schweinsteiger is just such an awful idea.
     
    Anyone expect anything different to this? Wrong team wrong system wrong manager.

    The linesman realised that mata was offside but he didnt touch the ball. So he didnt give it off. He told the ref that and ref decided that he interfered with the play. Not sure if its right or not but they didnt handle it poorly.

    Can't see the point of Fellaini at all this game. Blocked a Mata shot, missed an open header, otherwise completely uninvolved in the game.
     
    I missed our substitution. Why did Darmian go off? Injured?
     
    There are so many issues with LVG but one that cannot be denied even by the biggest LVG fan (does he have any?). Is that the squad it totally threadbare. You don't need to be the football genius that apparently LVG is to know that by Xmas we would be struggling for players when we went into the season with this squad, infact any bloody idiot would have known that.
     
    Don't even look like we are up for a fight. As long as we win possession battle LvG will be a happy Cnut.
     
    On a positive note, we actually look dangerous going forward tonight with Mata pulling the strings.

    The defence however... the less said about it the better.

    He can't see, he can only see that he is behind all the defenders. But if Mata doesn't interfere he isn't offside. The referee can see it, so he is the one who should decide.

    Maybe there is a reason LVG has been playing conservative football and this is it. I'm not being extreme, I just would rather LVG set us up to win most games at this point because I don't think these players are capable of playing very attacking football AND getting results at this moment.

    Right is your opinion. If you watched the replay you would see he didn't interfere with play at all. And simple technology like a stop-clock would mean we properly had 5 minutes added on rather than the 2 minutes despite play being stopped for far longer.
