    comeon son, no one thought that lucky cross was going in.
    there was much more chance it'd be there for Mata to put in.
    He couldn't just stop moving, as we'd all have been cursing no one being in there

    in conclusion all in though, this is horrible, and it turns out our defence isn't that great when we have to score!

    What the heck was Smalling doing at 2-1 down when they had that breakaway, went way too far one way, meaning their man had a very very obvious ball in. Very lucky not to be 3-1 down.

    Ultra reliant on CSKA doing us a humongous favour here!

    There's no way this bunch of kids is scoring two more here

    This game reminds me of that Basel match all those years ago. Infact this whole season reminds me of 05.
     
    The rule got changed, I think that because Mata was in a position which would affect the goalkeepers position, it is correctly offside. Whether he touched it or not doesn't matter.

    Considering our overall record is 13 wins 7 draws and 4 losses yes our play has gotten the result the majority of the time.
     
    Reminiscent of Benfica away in 2005, we went ahead and blew it. We look better going forwards but still not good enough and losing that goal 3 minutes after we scored was a big blow.

    I see why it was given offside as Mata was maybe in the line of sight. Just annoying that it was taken back only because their players complained.
     
    Farcical decision. Just when we actually play well, the fecking refs get involved again. I hope we believe.

    He was offside but the linesman shouldn't be influenced by a player like that. The referee has been pretty abysmal too but having said that, our fate is in our own hands. The damage was done with that draw with PSV at home. It was always going to be an uphill battle after that.

    Watch the manager do it later. So fecking disappointed. They worked the entire year last year to get into the CL then to go out like this is really daft.
     
    We are all over the place, what the hell is that? Everyone is in a different position every time we have the ball. Not good so far, especially Fellaini and Schweini. Let's win this!

    Every time Wolfsburg attack we are vulnerable. No midfield cover at all. We continue to move the ball forward slowly, and not take shots, despite Martial having the beating of Wolfsburg's defence and its keeper being cak.
     
    Season defining and possibly LVG's tenure defining 45 minutes coming up.

    Need to change something in that midfield.
     
    Blind, Mata and Martial all playing well.

    Schweinsteiger and Fellaini have been brutal and what the hell is wrong with Smalling? Is he sick or did he just leave Mike at home?

    He shouldn't need the ref to tell him that though, surely? That's my point, if it was interfering with play fine but he should have been able to flag for that instantly, the fact that he needed confirmation of something is what seems odd.
     
    I would take Schweinstiger off for Carrick he has been really poor today.
     
    They're the better side so far and created by far the best chances. A bit like the West Ham game really. I'm just confused at how we can look so short at the back and short up front at the same time. It's literally as if they have 2 extra men at times.

    We need Carrick on for Fellaini. Fellaini is a travesty of a midfielder. Provides nothing but his height. Just getting in the way more then anything. Our defence is looking very shaky, probably due to us not playing possession and just going for it. Maybe Van Gaal just doesn't know how to set up a fast paced attacking team?

    Have to agree. Football is currently miles behind other sports in terms of applying technology. How can players be allowed to make a call like that, and how can quick video analysis not be readily available? Martial was already incorrectly flagged offside once when he was clearly onside.
