Alan Green believes Gary Neville will be the boss next season if LVG goes out tonight.
Blimey, they've shipped Alan Green over there so he can do his usual thing of spending the entire game making out that being paid to travel the world and watch football is like working in a Chinese sweatshop? Joy of joys.

Thought Young would start at the back, as he's been playing well when put in the team. Seems he's second choice now all of a sudden.

Carrick is a surprise as well but may want to not push it since he's just coming back and has had a start/stop season.

    Come on boys!

Varela at right back is very surprising. I expected to see Young start this game in one of the full back positions. Fellaini in midfield was unexpected too, but perhaps he is planning for Bastian's suspension by resting Carrick.

I wouldn't be concerned with this if Schneiderlin was the DM but Schweinsteiger as the only DM against a side looking to run at the defense scares me. Even worse if Fellaini and Mata are supposed to be the supporting midfielders further forward.

Hope Schurrle has an off night. He come on as sub last game and ran past all our players.

Thing about tonight is Wolfsburg can still be knocked out. If we go a goal up and PSV are winning, Wolfsburg will have to come at us very strong.

What a test for our players resolve. I'm actually looking forward to seeing how this pans out and how we manage this game. We're also due a good game and hopefully we can be comfortable winners.

He's seems a very nice man, think he really appreciates the fans. Will get demolished if he loses today though...

He always stays and signs for every fan outside the ground and consistently talks about how important/good the fans are.

On that regards, he is amazing.

Alan Green knows feck all. If you're listening to him for tonight's match, I feel for you. Had to do it for the cup matches and it was like having my teeth pulled out without any anaesthetic.

Is it a 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-4-1? I hope Fellaini is playing along side Mata and not along BFS.

All that money spent....and then that line up in our most important game of the season. Hard not to be underwhelmed.

Hope Schurrle has an off night. He come on as sub last game and ran past all our players.
He's been awful this season, whenever I've watched them. Varela against Draxler and Rodriguez is more worrying for me. Even more so if Mata is playing at RW.

''How can you put your only chance of winning in the bench''.

    Anyone hear that?

I remain calm, even if Fellaini is starting. It won't be pretty, but we'll send bodies into their box in numbers and get that one goal we've been searching for. Victory will be ours.

They're showing highlights on BT Sport from the last time we played Wolfsburg with Owen scoring a hattrick. Seeing Nani and Obertan beat fullbacks and whip balls into the penalty area. Scholes with his quick passing and strikers making themselves available to receive the ball.

    Good times :(

I think we'd have scored against PSV and West Ham if we had Wilson on the field, the lack of a goalscorer in them games was the problem.

I trust you did not see Wilson play against Middlesborough?
He was woeful and replaced by Rooney at half time. Rooney was slightly better, though pretty bad, also.
And the scoreline, after 120 minutes? 0-0.
I believe that was Wilson's last game for us.

I realise that some of you think that we are 1 youth player away from being a great attacking side, but to transform our attack, we will need to bring in a Galactico. Any other player would get usurped into the 0-0 philosophy. Even if we got Vardy, I think after a few games, he'd start drawing blanks.

I wonder how some on here think youngsters would ever break into the squad.Historically a lot of them are due to taking chances when senior players are injured. We have 1 right back and 2 left backs out, what do you lot expect?

    Agreed,
he's been selected ahead of young too, so its not like we had no other options.
You dont need experienced, high quality cover for your cover.
Younger players getting experience and games has been one of the few highlights of this season for me.

Wolfsburg will obviously want to go through in first place in the group so I'm sure despite obviously not wanting to lose, they'll try to look for the 3 points themselves.

What a tense atmosphere across the whole group. The table can change so much on this matchday.

He wasn't great but he went off with an injury at 45 minutes so I think it's really unfair to judge him on that game.

Some odd comments on here about how can a club of our size field a team like that etc waffle waffle
The only players missing from probably the first choice XI are Shaw, umm he's been injured for a while, Rooney, a lot of people wanted him dropped and Carrick (supposed to be past his best according to some) or Schneiderlin, the latter being injured

Getting ready to moan are we? hope the team prove the groaners wrong

Time to leave the thread before the usual rants from the usual suspects

If its 0-0 at half time, LVG will need to make some drastic changes.
