How many games is Matic going to manage to play in a row? I'd have rested him or at least had him on the bench for this.
I guess Ole thinks winning the FA cup will save his job and usually I'd like a strong team but surely we dont need to go full strength for Tranmere, no disrespect to them but especially with that pitch

I don't understand the point of playing a strong lineup against a League 1 side, in the 4th round, on a shit pitch, in the middle of the most taxing, fixture congested time in the season. How in the feck does that make any sense. We've used youngster against better teams earlier in the season and managed to get results, why would we insist with the first team players now?

Don't want to be knee jerk but Christ that selection!!!! What happen to these young players knocking on the door of the first team? If those young players are good enough, wouldn't they be too good to start for Tranmere? It's a cowardly selection......

Why the feck would we be playing a defensive 5-3-2 vs Tranmere with so many first team players who obviously need a rest? This line up is a joke...

The game is even on and moaning has started . We’ll win this , bring on city.

An absolute dog of a pitch. This is view from behind the goal. The side opposite the hard camera is absolutely fecked.

Pretty sure they're not allowed to put 2 goals on our end too

Agree. The chances of one of these regular players getting injured from losing footing to a mistimed tackle is high....

Problem is, and always feckin is, that after a few bad results the United Manager is forced to do things he probably wouldn't otherwise do.

Most say they would prefer him to play the kids and then if we loose the same people want him sacked.

I have a word for it, it’s called children, I have three at home, all under five, each of them has a more patient and grown up attitude than the majority of entitled United fans.

Good job the pitch is in a top condition. You wouldn't want players carrying injuries on it.
Should be good for Mcguire to get some much needed minutes under his belt just before our quiet period of fixtures kicks in.

So if we'd play the kids and lose I guess there would be a huge outcry cause we lost?

Last time we played with Jones, Lindelöf and Maguire together with Pereira in midfield was against Sheffield.
Played really well in that game so Ole is using the same tactics here!

It's so depressing really, manager playing everyone because we have no squad and meanwhile we are just going through January not trying to change that . Its just negligence now , absolute joke what is going on at this club

Who shiould play instead in your opinion?

Strangely, Mata, who is on the bench, hasn’t done any warmup and is just chatting with all the coaching staff.

We’re playing a back 5 against Tranmere mate

I'm not so sure we are though. I was hoping it would be a 352, something like this maybe:

    Romero

    Lindelof Maguire Jones

    Dalot Periera Matic Lingard Shaw

    Greenwood Martial
Both Dalot and Shaw are perfectly capable of acting as wingbacks, and I think Greenwood will shine in 2 man strike partnership. It has potential.

I'll reserve judgement on the formation until after the game - might not seem the right decision now but let's see how it pans out. Let's not slaughter Ole before the team has even kicked a ball

    United quash Gomes rumour
United claim the suggestion Angel Gomes was cut from the squad after he was supposedly late for training are ‘absolutely not true’.

If you'd have told me 5 years ago Jones and Lingard would be starting for Manchester United I'd have spat on you.

Love those saying the coward should just play the kids...being the first to whinge about how incompetent Ole is if it backfires by the way.

The Astana thread was a joke for that.

I remember us getting draws at Burton and Exeter playing kids....the fecking melt down that would occur if that or worse happened today.

I'd have preferred more of the kids in. I'm less than impressed that Matic and Maguire have played again.

The crowd in here is appalling

I don't have a problem that we have gone with a experienced team, but if some players have been shit for a long time, then they really should not be given any more chances. Jones and Lingard should not be at the club anymore. These two are probably the worst and most underperforming players we have in the squad. Matic and Mata are not good enough either, but they still have been better than these two.

Dalot and Shaw will naturally drop back when defending, so it *is* a back five.

    That’s a back 5 mate. 5 defenders & a defensive midfielder & a goalkeeper. That’s 7 defensive minded players against Tranmere. You can’t defend that.

Wait are we actually playing 5 defenders against fecking tranmere
