Might be a day for Lingard. Finally playing against a team that he would start in as the star player.
    2 goals today?

This is the game we're Lingod scores and on the last day of the transfer window the club announces he signed a new 5 year contract. Like a new signing and all that.

Good thing Fred is rested, but playing Maguire and martial seems a bit unnecessary given the state of the pitch.

God help ole if one is them is injured

What is this... 3 CB's starting combined with a left back who isnt our best attacking leftback.

Lingard starting and Gomes not even on the bench? I can understand that Ole wants to win something at Manchester United for some breathingroom or less 'Ole Out' from the fans but this line up is just stupid.

Ole has picked strong teams in the FA Cup so far so I didn't expect it to stop now. Obviously wants some silverware to his name whether he gets sacked or not.

Looking at that line shows the incompetence of Ole. Such a rubbish manager, no balls. Could of rested a lot of players, Maguire massively overplayed so far Lindeloff just back from injury. No Gomes No chong starting, no garner who is back from injury. Would of liked to see Laird. We are playing Tranmere over 50 places below us yet we persist with a team that is useless. Lingard starting just says it all really about how useless Ole is.

Do the people complaining about "5 at the back" realise that we barely have enough midfielders to play a midfield 3?

We've got plenty of defenders, therefore it makes sense to utilise them.

That lineup is infuriating. 5 defenders? No kids? FFS.

Greenwood is a kid to be fair. Dalot is younger than half our reserves.

There's only really Williams, Chong, Garner and Gomes other than that. Williams has played plenty, Chong supposedly is off anyway and hasn't really done enough with the chances he has had. Garner is still pretty young even to be making appearances as a kid..even so he's been given games this season. Gomes is the only one that confuses me a bit but again he's had opportunities this season and not really taken them.

I also don't really think it's the right time to play kids away to a team on an awful pitch, who've already proven they'll bully a PL side if they're allowed to. It'd just end badly...which it might anyway, to be fair. We have Jones playing.

Yet another pathetic team selection from the coward.

I’ll laugh if we lose I really will. Rotten to the core.

We’ll probably win 1-0 and Lingard will finally score since he’s playing against his level of opponent. Then he’ll get a new contract & be labelled “like a new signing”

    I doubt it's a back 5. It's more likely that Dalot is playing right wing in a 4231 or it's simply a 352.

Ole has picked strong teams in the FA Cup so far so I didn't expect it to stop now. Obviously wants some silverware to his name.

Yes i think the same. Might not be the best for the club long term but winning something would be good for Ole short term....

Cowardly team selection from Ole to say the least.

Yet another pathetic team selection from the coward.

I’ll laugh if we lose I really will. Rotten to the core.

Did you really expect him to play a weakened team and run the risk of going out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle?

His job is on the line don't forget. He needs a win.

I imagine it’s a lack of midfield options forcing Ole to utilise more defenders. Back 3, Dalot is a wing back and Shaw can do the job, I’d imagine they’ll spend most of the game high up the pitch
Probably. But that doesn't fit with an 'Ole out' mindset so it'll be cowardly or stupid or tactically naive or all three.

And we haven't even kicked off yet.

Maguire and Martial should have been rested. Risky to play them today when they’ll be needed for pretty much every game from now on.

    We will lose today.

He's playing an extra defender so he doesn't have to play Fred and risk him getting injured on the beach pitch. He's the only fit midfielder we have who can run. Seems pretty obvious to me.

Not sure what else he can do really. We should still win...although I say that bearing in mind that we probably wont.

The U21s narrowly lost to this lot with Chong scoring a brace. Ole has plenty of options instead of risking players like Martial and Maquire. Cowardly setup from him.

An absolute dog of a pitch. This is view from behind the goal. The side opposite the hard camera is absolutely fecked.

I will miss the game( Euro handball finals at the same time). So i have one request; please be objective in match thread. You all are my eyes today:lol:

Yes i think the same. Might not be the best for the club long term but winning something would be good for Ole short term....

Yeah, didn't save LVG mind but Ole will go for this whether sacked or not.

Ole preaches about youth and courage yet only plays youth when there's nothing on the line or when he has no choice.

5 defenders against League 1 relegation team, what the actual feck.

Yeah, didn't save LVG mind but Ole will go for this whether sacked or not.

I think Ole has more credit than LvG since as a player he is a club legend. From LvG was also expected that he competed for the title and such... i dont really know what the board is expecting from Ole. Not that much i think....

He has to be one of, if not the worst manager this club has had. He doesn't even back up most of the things he says and continues to put himself before the best interests of the club while also making constant bad decisions also.
