Pretty poor stuff. Not surprised with the team we had to put out. Still we should be 1-1 with that Garnacho chance. Fernandes having a poor game on and off the ball, Garancho chance aside.

Nah not “this place” - he’s too unpredictable on the ball and it leaves huge gaping holes everywhere cause he gives it away in stupid scenarios leaving the rest of the team on the back foot.

We’d be much better with a player that can have a bit of awareness rather than his gung ho crazy approach.
Oh it gets even better, a fictional footballer that you can't name would be better.

He's non-stop criticising one of the two teams, when the other team has conceded even more clear-cut chances. There are clear issues with the fromation but we also have 10 players out! The last time we had zirkzee trying to cover the right he had to be subbed at the 30th min. We are obviously compensating for this.

I hardly think we've been worse than them, yet gary uses words like embarrassing to describe us and waxes lyricals when its anything to do spurs (especially maddison!)

It's a consistent theme with Neville at this point - absolutely lays into United no matter what, but creams off of their opponent like they are the next coming of prime Barcelona!

I don't mind criticism with suggestions of how it could be fixed when it is warranted, that's what he's supposed to do. But my God, the way he just consistently whines on and on and on and on, it'sike we're the worst feckin team to ever exist!

    Unpopular opinion:

Garnacho’s miss was worse than Onana’s parry/spill for Spurs’ goal

Thought he was playing well myself....
    Really?!!?!

I just can't see how anyone can possibly see that.

He just stands there, looking, walking.. doing nothing. Doesn't make runs forward to counter, doesn't move to make space, doesn't close down passing lines.. its just absolutely horrendous.

Everyone, including GN criticising the midfield line up.
It is shockingly bad, but what’s the alternative?
There aren’t any other players available.
We literally have no senior player’s or youngsters with any first team experience, available.

    That... was poor.

Maguire has played some nice vertical attacking passes.

Zirkzee is good at little ball tricks to keep possession, but then usually loses it when he tries to pass it. He can't jump but this half was a worrying reminder that he can't run either. Can't or won't.

    Garnacho... unbelievable miss.

    Højlund good shot then nothing.

Onana could help his defense out a lot of he would catch the ball every so often. I've seen other keepers do this, I know it's not illegal.

Bruno should try some more no-look low percentage chance Hollywood passes. When we give the ball to Spurs it gives our players a nice rest. Great job.

Onana at the back unsettles the defense, Højlund at the tip of the spear is a wet noodle. In the center we are getting run circles round.

Ref has been good aside from 1 minute stoppage for a goal, a yellow, and two injuries, plus the normal time wasting.

Half time subs, why the feck not.

TBF after that performance, he did us all a favour not adding on any further minutes.

No keeper is holding that shot. As a keeper, you hope your defenders react rather than ball watch.....
As a keeper you don't push it back into trouble.

Honestly, the mental gymnastics some go through to absolve him of blame is wild

So who are you playing in there instead?

Back four of Dalot, de Ligt, Maguire and Dorgu. Midfield of, Case, Maz and Bruno with Garnacho LW, Zirkzee CF and Hojlund RW.

Plenty of defensive cover in the middle, lots of pace out wide and a player who does his best work playing a false 9 holding the ball and playing others in. Simples.

Doesn't mean we'll win but it's multiples better than what we're seeing now.

Terrible first half, Garnacho blazing over with a glorious chance.

G Nev is pretty scathing on SKY but he ain't wrong, is he?
He's wrong. Looks worse cause neither midfielder is mobile enough to take up other positions when we haven't got the ball.

There aren’t any other players available.
We literally have no senior player’s or youngsters with any first team experience, available.

Go to a 4 for a one off, throw a Dalot or Mas into DM alongside Cas to get some legs around him.

Unless you have the best players, 3 Midfielders are the only way to play in England. Ten Hag tried this 2 no. 10 nonsense and got destroyed almost every week. Amorim doing the same thing.
This. 3 man midfield is the pre-cursor of the last decade of football.
How we have never evolved into this has been staggering.

2 man midfield in EPL will never work.

Is he being asked to play that way? I’d bet good money those aren’t his specific instructions and he’s adapting/reacting to how the game is playing out and how Spurs are shaping up and overloading.

If you watch United regularly, you’d know our pivot doesn’t press that aggressively—we typically drop into a 5-4-1 off the ball. That hasn’t been the case today, which tells me this is a deliberate tactical decision by Amorim. It’s clearly not working, and it needs to change immediately!

That Garnacho miss looked even worse, every time you see it. He's not taking it first time, no excuse to balloon it over the bar. At minimum, he should hit the target.

As a keeper you don't push it back into trouble.

Honestly, the mental gymnastics some go through to absolve him of blame is wild
I agree with this generally but I think his first approach was getting a strong hand to it

I've watched the goal again. I've blamed Onana for a lot of things the last 2 seasons but I don't think there was a hell of a lot more he could have done. He was at full stretch and could only get his left hand there in time to stop the shot.

Having said that, Bayindir being a significantly taller keeper may have been able to parry the ball away comfortably (but then again he did the exact same thing against Spurs in the Carabao Cup!)

Back four of Dalot, de Ligt, Maguire and Dorgu. Midfield of, Case, Maz and Bruno with Garnacho LW, Zirkzee CF and Hojlund RW.

    I'm out.

    Onana 5, De Ligt 6, Harry 5.5, Mazraoui 6, Dorgu 6.5, Dalot 6, Casemiro 5, Bruno 4.5, Garnacho 3, Rasmus 6, Zirkzee 7.5

Garnacho and Bruno cannot see the runs of Dorgu. He is running down for overlap all the time and hasn´t got a single pass. Zirkzee has been good. Dorgu, Maz, De Ligt and Højlund are doing ok

Agree..Garnacho always want to cut in..Bruno always want to pass the direct ball into the box..
This is the level of decision making and that why we sit in 15th position..

With the ball Spurs are miles ahead of us. They actually look like they know what they're doing and know how to hurt a team. While our players are hesitant and look like they're trying to work out a gameplan while they're on the pitch

Garnacho should have scored though. And obviously results wise Spurs are no better than us. But I think its because of their defending - with the ball they're pretty good at least compared to us
Spurs on the ball are a top 4 team, highlighted by the goals scored tally.

Off the ball defensively, without their first choice they are relegation standard.

Dorgu getting ignored by Garnacho everytime it goes there, we have no right sided attack, Hojlund should make runs into the space otherwise i don't see how we get the ball into the box as Bruno has hamstrung us everytime

Just blood the kids and get it over with

Two individual moments, Onana and Garnacho, dictate how we feel about the game.

We've actually been OK considering the injuries and lack of legs in midfield.
I think that's a fair comment. we've not been good but could actually be in front

I think you two completely misunderstood my post. I have no problem with Bruno playing as a centre midfielder. The problem I have is the way he is being asked to play which is what I said in my initial post.

I'd be interested to know why Amorim has opted for Bruno being thebperson pressing the left back, as opposed to sitting in the pivot with Casemiro.

Because he doesn't trust Zikzee to do it.

Which despite Zirkzee being good on the ball today is fair enough.

While it’s annoying to see him miss that, conceding goals from Onana mistakes game after game is worse. Always chasing being down one goal is hopeless.

    Onana must be replaced.
