Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, commonly referred to simply as Tottenham or Spurs (and nicknamed The Lilywhites), are a professional football club based in Tottenham, London. The Hotspur Football Club was formed in 1882 by a group of school boys, mostly aged 13 to 14, from Tottenham Grammar School and Saint John's Middle Class School who were members of the Hotspur Cricket Club formed two years earlier. Initially, the boys that formed Hotspur Football Club played games between themselves and friendly matches against other local clubs. The team entered their first cup competition in the London Association Cup, and won their first competitive match on 17 October 1885. The club turned professional on 20 December 1895, and in the summer of 1896 they were admitted to the Division One of the Southern League. On 2 March 1898, the club also became a limited company, the Tottenham Hotspur Football and Athletic Company.

Tottenham were the first club in the 20th century to achieve the League and FA Cup Double, winning both competitions in the 1960-61 season. After successfully defending the FA Cup in 1962, in 1963 they became the first British club to win a UEFA club competition – the European Cup Winners' Cup. In 1967, Spurs won the FA Cup for a third time in the 1960s. In the 1970s Tottenham won the League Cup on two occasions and were the inaugural winner of the UEFA Cup in 1972, becoming the first British club to win two different major European trophies. In the 1980s Spurs won several trophies: the FA Cup twice, FA Community Shield and the UEFA Cup in 1984. In the 1990s the club won the FA Cup and the League Cup. When they won the League Cup once more in 2008, it meant that they had won a major trophy in each of the last six decades – an achievement only matched by Manchester United.

Tottenham supporters have rivalries with several clubs, mainly within the London area. The fiercest of these is with north London rivals Arsenal (with matches between them termed the North London derby). They also share notable rivalries with fellow London clubs Chelsea and West Ham United. Tottenham play their home games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs defence has been poor and they play a very high line.

I think he’ll reintegrate one of Garnacho/Rashford for this.

    Onana
    Yoro - Maguire - Martinez
    Antony - Ugarte - Bruno - Malacia
    Amad - Hojlund - Garnacho

The fact that this is on Thursday and we have a game on Sunday afternoon is annoying. The likes of Yoro, Malacia, Eriksen, Antony, Casemiro, Rashford and Garnacho will probably be getting minutes here.

This game must be seen as a continuation of Amorim’s efforts to build his team, impose his style of play and instil a winning mentality.
It won’t help if it’s just viewed as a secondary competition, like in the past, where ad-hoc squad players get their chance.
He’ll rotate the players for sure, but it has to be used as preparation for the coming PL fixtures and approached as part of the same process.
Go all out for the win !

Spurs are poor at the back, but brilliant on the counter, they have scored lots of goals this season too. Yoro needs to start just for pace at the back. Garnacho needs to start because of spurs' high line defence

Rotate the shit out of the team for this game. We could still field a team that can win. Garnacho, Rashford, Evans, Casemiro, Eriksen, Malacia did not play at all here. Lindelöf, Maguire, Zirkzee, Antony should have fresh legs as well.

They are the weirdest team ever. I don’t like it. We could get beat here as they can be electric attack but we can beat them as they are dreadful defensively.

    High scoring 3-2 win.

Rest for Maz, Licha, de Ligt, Dalot, Hojlund and Amad. Hopefully Bruno too, but it’s unlikely.

    Onana
    Yoro Maguire Evans
    Antony Casemiro Mainoo Malacia
    Zirkzee Eriksen
    Rashford

Most realistic chance at a trophy isn’t it? Rather go all out for it

Should be rotating, but I would hope we can score a few goals as Spurs will have Romero, Van de Ven and probably Udogie out who pulled up injured today. It seems like they played a centreback pair of Dragusin and Gray (who is a fullback/centre mid) against Saints.

Agreed. I like Gray but he’s not a CB. I’d have Hojlund on him as I think Rasmus should be able to bully him physically

They're possibly the most ridiculously gung ho team I've seen in this league. They shoot out the blocks so quickly you really have to be on your game as a unit but they burn out just as ridiculously quickly too if you're competant defensively.

They never seem to balance their attacking strengths to thier defensive ones, even though they have arguably better defensive talents than their offensive ones.

    Bizarre team really.
If you mitigate thier potential early onslaught, we have chance.
They don't really like tight, congested games. They start to panic and lose focus.

Don't sleep on Europa. No drop-in's from the CL anymore; we should be aiming to win it. Especially as top 4 looks far from likely. But yes we should be aiming to win this too.

Assuming Amorim continues with his rotations

    Onana
    Yoro De Ligt Licha
    Antony Casemiro Mainoo Malacia
    Bruno Rashford
    Zirkzee
Only position i'm unsure of is CCB as both Maguire and De Ligt played against City, but went with De Ligt because Bournemouth is a strong set piece team and playing De Ligt here would allow Maguire to play that game

Europa League should be the top aim, gets us into the CL. Winning the league cup is nice and all but we have won 2 trophies in the past 2 years, I'm all for whatever is best for our development and for now I'd say that's rotating in this competition.

    Onana
    Yoro Maguire Martinez
    Antony Casemiro Mainoo Malacia
    Bruno Rashford

Whichever out of Rashford or Garnacho. Amad and Ugarte should be rested. Would rotate Martinez if we had someone.

    Ant

    Amad

    4-4

I’ll never know why successive managers persist in playing Ant o/r. Did Fergie play Giggs and Beckham on their wrong foot? Wouldn’t expect Ant to be the 2nd coming of Maldini but he’s got to be better than Dalot playing on his wrong foot and can actually cross a ball from the l/w with his left foot. Ground breaking stuff, I know.

Could even get a half decent bench if the errant little boys have repented with Harry, Mainoo, Malacia along with usual suspects to pad it out

I was a bit indifferent to this game but after last night I want us to win. There are only two more games of this competition left after this and hopefully we'll able to manage. My team:

    Onana
    Yoro Maguire Martinez
    Antony Casemiro Mainoo Malacia
    Bruno Rashford/Garnacho
    Zirkzee
Whichever of Rashford or Garnacho is out of the doghouse starts as one of the front three. Would give Maz, de Ligt, Dalot, Amad and Ugarte a rest in this one.

I'd rotate a bit and prepare for Bournemouth.

Not sure we need thenLC, though it would be nice to keep our trophy haul going into a third season.

Can't it just go straight to penalties?

I mean, just kick off is like penalties?

Or, just for a laugh, can't we meet them in the parking lot? A royal rumble?

    Sakes.

Isn’t the league cup equivalent is the first cup Ruben won with both Braga and sporting?

I bet he will be right up for this. There will be changes but I think he might keep the core starters. Hopefully we get through here

It'd be a good trophy to win, but it's not by any means the priority.

I’ll play de Ligt in this game and play Maguire against Bournemouth.

    Onana
Yoro - de Ligt - Martinez
    Antony - Casemiro - Bruno - Malacia
    Amad Zirkzee
    Hojlund

I rather rest players at home against Bournemouth on Sunday. Lets keep the momentum going.

    Onana
    Yoro - DL - Martinez
    Maz - Bruno - Ugarte - Dalot
    Amad - Hoijlund - Rashford

Going against the grain here but I think it's beneficial to give players rest here, LC gives us nothing and some of players like Dalot, Maz, Amad all look knackered and we want to keep them fresh. Going out here isn't the end of the world as the competition should be our 4th choice.

I know this is a shot at a trophy but I would be prioritizing Sundays game vs Bournemouth and Amorim loves to rotate.

    GK - Bayindir
    RCB - Yoro
    CB - Lindelof
    LCB - Evans
    RWB - Antony
    LWB - Malacia
    DM - Eriksen
    DM - Casemiro
    AM - Zirkzee
    AM - Garnacho
    ST - Rashford

3-1 Tottenham, I think they'll want it more than we will plus their at home.
