The most important thing in football is to score goals. The game revolves around that. At the moment, the general play behind the front four is pretty good, or at least it's better than it was last week. But, we're not really looking all that dangerous.

Yes, but that isn't as important as the rest of it. I would be more concerned if we were making no chances. We still have to remember that we have Hojlund to come into the team, which could make a lot of difference to the team. It will also allow Rashford to go back to being a winger, which he is far better at.

I'm happy with what I have seen so far. There is improvement to be made, but I can see this being a major step forward for the rest of the season.

Ten Hag has made some baffling signings
    Weghorst, Antony and Mount.

Ffs. Get a grip. Weghorst was a loan, a new striker wasn't sanctioned by the Glazers. Mount has played 1.5 games for us, and hasn't been bad today.

    This place sometimes.

It’s average. No style of play. No pressing.

Well there's definitely been that. You don't just press like mad men for the whole game, you spring pressing traps, which we have been doing. Won the ball high up the pitch a few times, but didn't capitalise on them. Same as against Wolves.

Much better than last week. Onana, AWB, Martinez, Bruno all very good, Mount was decent too.

Get Martial on might as well use him when he is fit…
True, if nothing just to play Rashford back on the left. Garnacho has wasted way too many opportunities to pounce when we've countered in space with 1 on 1 chances to attack.

Garnacho should not be a starter, Rashford should be on the left and he might be once Hojlund is fit. The problem is that I also don’t think Hojlund is a starter.

I'm finding it slightly uncomfortable the amount of hope that we're pinning onto him. We're playing the long-game with him, as far as I'm concerned.

Exactly why we still need a backup 9 probably more so that another wide forward

Much better than last week. Just need a bit of composure in front of goal. We should have had a penalty and both those headers in the back of the net. Spurs should have 2, so we’d still be winning this!

The thing that’s killing us is the pace through the center. If Mount is too far up, Casemiro and Varane have no speed to match up.

For those claiming we have been poor:

I can't wait until the PL start using xG instead of goals to decide who won a match. Then we'll be fine!

But you're right, we have had better chances. I just wish we could hit a barn door at this point.

Every team press United towards AWB it happens everytime he play…
Maybe they've just been more effective then? I can't really remember Shaw or Martinez playing balls into midfield like usual, it's all down our right hand side when playing out from the back.

Ten Hag needs to sub in someone to replace Garnacho and push Rashford on the left. Garnacho has had plenty of 1 on 1 opportunities on the counter with plenty of space to pounce and he's failed to make much of those opportunities.

Not ganna change with Rashford. He would just run into the defender.

We're really playing well, it's just the poor finishing that's killing us. We had some problems last season but it seems our finishing has gotten worse. The Rashford and Bruno headers should've at least hit the target.

Much better today than Wolves. But very questionable decision making at times, and the front three needs to step up. I think I'm done with Antony now, got to be the most frustrating player I've seen here

Crying for Hojlund, to push Rashford out wide too.

I know it won't but that penalty fall should get just as much attention as the one from last week. His arm was literally at a 90 degree angle when it touched him, looked like a goalkeeper.

Much better than last week. Some solid exchanges paired with great pieces of individual skill. But our finishing is just woeful. I was waiting for Spurs to score as that is often the price of missing chances, glad to see the bar come to our aid. If we somehow lose this, I'll have some solace beacuse the performance was miles better with the same team.

Garnacho keeps getting into good positions but his decision making still isn't there. That pass from Onana should've resulted in a Rashford shot. At some point Rashford needs to be moved left because we can cause the most damage there.

Oh and the refs have done their job of 'equalizing' last week's decision. Hope that was the last of it, but wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't. Also, that paper plane throwing from the Spurs fans is some small time shit.

They didn’t even show the pen

The biggest talking point of the first half and they just completely ignored it.Speaks volumes, what an utter joke. They couldn’t wait Monday night to debate the Onana decision to the nth degree.

    It’s embarrassing actually, deeply unprofessional

Tight game. Both teams have missed good chances. It is a more encouraging performance, there is more tempo, more quality and more team work. It should have been a penalty to United, that is evens more Monday.

We need to keep our discipline, the Bruno booking was poor and we lost our concentration afterwards which led to their best chance. Keep our heads and be a bit more clinical when we get into their box and we can win this.

And Michael Owen saying it's not a penalty.
Would not have won a PL if he didn't join us.

Garnacho should not be a starter, Rashford should be on the left and he might be once Hojlund is fit. The problem is that I also don’t think Hojlund is a starter.
For the price we paid , he had better be more than a starter

We where decent. The concern is like last year our player can't finish and don't look to be improving in such a vital aspect.

Yes, I'm probably seeing the game relative to the Wolves debacle, so I've enjoyed our play far more against Spurs and don't feel deflated like I did on Monday, but yes, we're still having trouble finishing.

Prime Nani would be lightyears ahead of the rest of our other forwards/wide players.
I don’t really remember prime Nani. I remember mercurial, dazzling, volatile Nani. He wasn’t especially productive. Good player yes but his legend seems to have distorted perception of his actual contributions which were generally disappointing. He scored about three league goals a season.

Yeah, I still think he is an appalling signing. He just not what we need at all. Why we couldn't just buy an 8, I will never know.
If he was a £30m squad player and even then I'd think there was better value elsewhere. But £60m!! And showpony Antony was £82m. As much as we hate the Glazers what can't be said is that we haven't had money to spend. It has been squandered.

I can't wait until the PL start using xG instead of goals to decide who won a match. Then we'll be fine!

But you're right, we have had better chances. I just wish we could hit a barn door at this point.
We wouldn't, our xG is usually very poor.

We have made plenty of chances today whilst playing with a striker that cannot hold up the ball. Hojlund will make a massive difference to this side, especially with Rashford going out to the wing.

We do have to remember that we are still playing with a bit of hole in the striker position. That is pretty promising to me.

have to say it shouldnt be a pen when a defender is shot at from close range imo and a similar one in the first round wasnt given against city/pool or someone else where i would have hoped for it. lets see how it goes in the season. if such pens are not given anymore in general then ok, otherwise it will be hard to swallow
