How did Red Nev think it wasn’t a pen??
I don't think he was necessarily saying he didn't think it was. I think he was saying it wouldn't be given. Slight difference.

But I would love him to be honest post match and if he thinks it's a pen just light up and give it hell

He wasn't speaking, he was shouting. You can't do that now, and you especially can't do it with this bellend ref.

Believe me, I feel his frustration. But it really isn't worth a yellow card.
And rightly so, he hasn’t booked any of their players for fouls and has been dishing out yellows to ours like we’re cropping people.

He’s the captain, he’s entitled to ask the ref, in a raised voice, why he’s not booking them for similar fouls. The problem is the ref forgot he was the captain and booked him as soon as he heard his voice in his ear.

What exactly is the upside of not doing it? For example we could/should have had a pen because the Spurs defender didn't do it.

Try running, blocking or making sharp movements with your hands behind your back.

I'm not talking about doing it at the very very last second, I'm talking about these two players setting up shop on a spot and hands behind a back a couple seconds before the final action. They can't even raise their leg or position their body because it's so square. It disadvantages yourself so much.

Edit: The reason why Shaw deflected that shot onto the bar was because he couldn't position his legs to block it. Instead he just stood there hands behind his back. It's so brainless and absolving yourself of the responsibility because 'oh I might concede a penalty, so I'd just stand here instead'.

that’s a sign that we’ve poor finishing. It’s a better sign than not creating.
The thing is, poor finishing has been a trend for too long. So long that it's not a trend anymore, it's the characteristic of this team. It's poor.

We are, but our two wingers are utterly toothless and we’ve missed a couple sitters.

I’d take both off and bring on Martial and Sancho
I agree I see the ball is moved well and it gets to wingers who are useless or we are missing easy pickings for chances!! That's why I don't like what I am seeing

typical match day thread. a cesspit of moaners and whingers going on and on about how shit we are, despite playing decently. Like there's no middle ground - either we are fecking good leading 5-0 or we are shit. Agenda posters targeting Mount just because they dont agree with the signing. Why do some of you even watch the match? Have some perspective ffs.

Feel like we've been OK.... definitely not great though.

Rashford has been awful IMO. His touch and link up is so poor for a striker. Mount has been quite poor too.

Onana is a bit good isn't he ?

That’s what happens when the clubs keeps trying to find stop gap solutions and hope Martial/Rashford fulfills their potential.

Hopefully Holjund will be the answer.

100% with you chief. But you can't shout like that anymore. Especially with an officious little prick like this ref. I think Bruno is going to have to modify how he speaks to refs. Just the reality.

Antony has got to be the worse signing for the last few years

Our counter attacks always look toothless when the ball comes to Antony

How could we get more control

Hard to say really, on paper the profile of midfielders doesn't suggest its something that the players will solve. Will have to come from potential change in shape, instruction from the manager which hopefully in a few weeks time becomes muscle memory for the team in possession.
