He mostly plays because he's capable of a tidy finish,We've recovered well after a shaky start and grown into it more as the half wore on, dominant for the latter part of the half and well deserving of the equaliser.

But I do agree overall--he has a good track record with youth.Despite his goals Lingard is just a very limited player and it feels like we're playing with ten men again. The odd goal aside he offers nothing to the team.
Overall we've been pretty poor yet again, but that has come as no surprise. Mata and Matrtial our best attacking outlets.

I completely agree. LVG prefers Lingard because he's somewhat more responsible defensively, while still having the ability to chip in with a goal here and there. He's not a player who should be starting for our first team with any regularity, but we have no other options. Memphis plays with absolutely no discipline or commitment to tracking back. At the moment, he's just as likely to give the ball away in a danger zone and then stand and watch as he is to make a positive offensive contribution.- Status
