Rooney isn't going to change. This is what he is capable of. We have to hope he gets a chance and finishes it. Chances of him displaying good hold up play or running into the channels are very low. I agree that we need an upgrade.

Lingard and Rooney (particularly the former) need to find some semblance of their games in the second half. They've been poor so far. I'm also very disappointed in Carrick, who has been slow and sloppy with his passing. Martial's goal was very important. We started abysmally, but have improved a bit. A win in there for the taking, but we need to increase the speed of our passing and movement even further.

Khazri's been running like a madman all half, desperate to impress. He'll be out on his feet by the 60th minute, as I suppose will be the Sunderland team - they've worked exceptionally hard, clattering into fouls, diving, packing their own box and in general dicking around since they scored so early, from, lets admit it, a freak goal. 9 times out of 10 that doesn't go in.

United will take control from the second half, hopefully we can put the game beyond doubt by scoring a few. Never thought I'd say this but we have missed the physical presence of Fellaini today.

PS.

Some of the overreactions and attacks on our own players has been shocking. Yes Khazri has done well against Darmian, but give the lad a break. He's gonna be out for a few weeks now, just as he was approaching some form. Valencia should be back soon anyway, which seems to be what most of you want, portraying him as some sort of pseudo-Gary Neville RB God.

I'd say from that list only Fellaini has the combative edge to him, the rest of them are gentle flowers. In a game like this you need players who are going to get stuck in.

Darmian was truly awful closely followed by Carrick and Lingard. Mata has been our best player for me with Martial just behind him.

We really need to win this game as a draw will be pathetic to be fair.

Thought Martial was fairly well locked down by Yedlin and N'Doye before Yedlin's moronic yellow card offence. That will allow Martial's influence to grow along with his well taken goal. Mata has been our greatest threat so far, and if he had someone better than Rooney ahead of him it'd have been a fairly different match.

Sunderland are awful so it should be easy street from here.
