I think it's more to do with the fact that Smalling aside our team is generally poor in the air, and thus Fellaini fulfills something of a role both attacking and defending in the air.

As able as Blind has been at CB, we really need to look towards a dominant physical partner for Smalling in the summer. What I wouldn't give for a prime Vidic in this team
