Dire stuff, we spent the first 20 minutes lumping it forward in these windy conditions, which made no sense. Stoke have simply been the better, hungrier team.

If we had sacked LVG after Bournemouth we could still be in the title race. Not much chance now unfortunately.

I said before the game that I thought we would lose, sadly that seems to be what is going to happen.

Man Utd have not put together any kind of real play today. We had some decent possession towards the end of the first half but Stoke are 2-0, they are letting us play now they are in control and have the option of the counter. Its been the same story all season long.

I do not understand the shape of the team. 4231 has almost always failed Louis Van Gaal at United, yet he refuses to go back to 433. When we dominated Liverpool at Anfield in spring the XI had two clear fields of operation. Mata, Herrera, Valencia on the right, Young, Fellaini, Blind on the left, Carrick knitting it all together as the anchor. That´s the same shape Barcelona use, the same shape Henry used to explain Pep´s tactics on Monday night. It provides the most balance and the highest chance of overloads. Despite knowing this Van Gaal has sent the team out with Herrera and Carrick expected to run their ar$e´s off, with Fellaini in some kind of floating free role. We can´t get any passing going, we´re stretched out, its easy for Stoke to defend.

Individually there have been some disasterous errors, Depay has basically gone Brutus on Van Gaal and stabbed him in the gut. The real issue though is this set up is not bringing the best out of our players. Not the first time this season that has happened. Why Van Gaal insists on persisting with this tactical change, when what he did in Spring worked so well, God only knows.

Just watched I believe in miracles. Different times of course, but they had so many things we lack: simplicity, characters, deterimation, the feel good factor.

As much as I think Louis is at fault for the terrible performances (and he is) our players have been pathetic pretty much since SAF retired. Even the new ones coming in, with a few exceptions.

Whatever manager comes in, they've got plenty of work to do to change our mentality.

On the bright side, Apparently the board have called a crisis meeting prior to the game. This could be the end for LVG.

Even Moyes could have played better against teams like Norwich City, Stoke City etc.

Yes we were clueless against the stronger sides when Moyes managed us but at least we one many of these sort of games.

Under LVG no match appears to be a winnable match anymore.

When you think it can't get worse we can still surprise. This is genuinely a horrific performance. Nothing but long passes to Fellaini all day long. Stoke are playing football light years ahead of ours.

Why on earth did he diving head it, just smash it up pitch?

Why didn't we close down that free kick, nobody even tries to shut down arnautovic.

If this is the players getting behind lvg then he is dead in the water

LVG is completely lost and he should have gone last week!!

    Our board are gutless !

It's amazing that we went from Paul Scholes, the player famous for the highest bottom level of performance imaginable, to Marouane Fellaini, the player who is basically league 2 quality if his chest hair's first touch is not on point.

Thing is, simply changing the manager wont even be enough. Stoke have a better quality team out there today. we need some actual fecking players.
Better quality team, but not better quality players. Don't be daft.

Surely we need Jose in now?
Obviously Pep in summer would be awesome too, but if we don't even make the CL for next season, would Pep want to join? Needs an immediate fix IMO

Even Moyes could have played better against teams like Norwich City, Stoke City etc.

Yes we were clueless against the stronger sides when Moyes managed us but at least we one many of these sort of games.

I don't think we had a 7 game run like we are in now under moyes

From top of the league and one win away to qualifying for round two in the CL to being knocked out and 5th in the table

It's total free fall of epic failure.

I've always felt that the buck always stops with the manager, as far as off-field performance goes. But by that same logic, perhaps equal share of blame should be appointed to the man responsible for this manager, and a number of the players who have been brought in. And that is a very worrying thought, as bringing in a new manager mid-season is one thing; replacing the CEO quite another.

Sky are building up the appearance of Rooney like they've not seen him play for two years.

Even Moyes could have played better against teams like Norwich City, Stoke City etc.

We lost 2-1 to Stoke with Moyes in what was an awful performance under Moyes.

Rooney or no Rooney, we seem to be completely clueless in anything other than passing the ball back.. oh wait the first goal :(

I don't know how even the most optimistic of his supporters can continue to back LvG if we don't turn this around in the 2nd half

It was stupid to keep him after losing to Bournemouth.

    And Norwich.

    Welcome to Man Utd.

Aye, sacking him now could come with it's own problems due to the number of games but it's just awful football and now the results are matching it.

Giggs for the rest of the season and pep in the summer has now become my ideal scenario

I think giggs will get us better results than lvg at this moment

Giggs is part of this shambles. As he was of the Moyes era. No idea why anyone with a right mind would want that guy that has no clue what he is doing as our manager. Not even for one game I want him.

The NBC pundits are nothing short of clueless. How these guys get jobs is beyond me.

If van Gaal can turn this around, he might want to send Giggs out to Tesco to buy a few loaves and fishes for the denizens of Gary Neville's hotel.
