We're unlikely to see Gomes anywhere near the squad as he played and scored for the U23's the other night.

That first touch and finish (0.50) was sublime

He can't be that far away from a first-team birth.

Can't help but feel his height is a major barrier. Let's hope Solskjaer sees beyond that.

    Rashford - Greenwood - Chong
    Pogba
    Garner - Fred
    Young - Maguire - Tuanzebe - Wan-Bissaka
    De Gea
I want to see a completely different front 6 and one that is balanced. Pogba as no.10 with 2 midfielders behind him, a striker in front of him and 2 inverted forwards either side of him.

    Chong career so far
    41 games RW - 25 goals+assists = 1.64 games per goal or assist
    18 games LW - 8 goals+assists = 2.25 games per goal or assist

    Greenwood career so far
    33 games as ST - 45 goals+assists = 0.73 games per goal or assist
    7 games wide - 2 goals+assists = 3.5 games per goal or assist

This is why Greenwood is playing as striker, Chong playing as inverted right sided forward and Rashford as inverted left sided forward. We should have signed an inverted right sided forward and it pisses me off that we ignored it for yet another season.

If he thinks selling Lukaku and not using Greenwood with Martial out is a good idea today then it's worrying. Especially if Lingard starts.

Can we have just one day in which we don't have to read posts moaning about Lingard.

We get it, he's far from the quality we need as a first choice United player. However, for this season he's going to be playing quite a lot. Hopefully a new forward takes his place by the end if the season be that a young player coming through like Gomes, or a signing we make in January.

Just so sick of reading posts having a go at the bloke. I'm sure he's genuinely doing his best, he works hard and always wants the ball.

That’s my prediction too. Best not see fecking lingard in the starting lineup.

Hopefully Gomes is on the bench at least.
Yeah, I’ll be disappointed if he is, but I’m not that bothered if he is. Just needs to put a fecking decent performance in for once.

As most people said, Gomes won’t make the bench.

Looking forward to the meltdown, which I will be a part of, if/when Young and Lingard start

I get and agree with what you are saying. However there is more chance of Boris Johnson agreeing a Brexit deal or winning the lottery than this happening.

I can't be held responsible for my actions if Lingz does start and we lose the points in this one.

    Christ, he's sensational

Looks like Gomes has a birthday today. I wish he was given minutes as a present :)

I think although he is very short with the talent he had he'll make it at a top level. Looks by far the most gifted footballer we have coming through with the only negative his height!

Sadly it looks that way. I'm all for investigating in youth but when one of your most talented young players can't even make the bench, it's disappointing. He's way to good for u23 football and I can see another Pogs situation where he leaves for nothing and goes on to be successful elsewhere.

    DDG
    AWB Lindelof Maguire Young
    Mctom Periera
    Lingard ---- Pogba ---- James
    Rashford
Is the team I expect we'll see this afternoon.

Be happy to see Fred and Greenwood given starts but can't see it happening.

Didn't he just play yesterday? So it's not happening for Gomes today. And nobody should be surprised. Graft > craft.

Thank god the only football management you'll be doing is on Fifa

Watching this lad and the current situation of our team, it's a travesty he's not part of today's squad.

You might as well start it now if you really are desperate as both players will be starting.

Young will come on for the injured Shaw and Lingard will either be RW or CAM

    Fixed it.

    Kind of agree with you.

But we have to out faith in the manager and the coaching staff. If they thought Gomes was ready to start for the first team they would have made it happen already. They work with the lad every day in training.

Of course Young will start- who else can play LB that’s not injured? Lingard I think will start on the bench

He doesnt. He usually doesnt get the ball often. If he really wanted the ball he would get it more. Good thing he doesnt want it more often anyway.. he just passes it sideways or backwards without any risk.

It is just very very frustrating to see Lingard play week in week out while a player who looks a lot more exciting play for the u23
