Can we please just put something to bed. It isnt 352. Its 532.

No, not because he likes it but because he wants to show he is a genius. The more it is criticised the more he will want to play it.

It's just crazy man, he will live or die by it but I just find the reasons people coming up to be frankly ridiculous. If he didn't believe that Jones or Smalling or Tony V could play RB then why the hell did he go into the season with one RB who is injured most of the season anyway

Well Rafael is constantly injured and now has a broken jaw, and Shaw has been on/off injured all season, so yes.

Are either actually injured to the point where they couldn't be in the matchday squad at present? As far as we are aware, no.

Because we have no natural full backs and a weak, constantly changing, centre back partnership?

Why do people just ignore this? I hate the 3-5-2. But there is a logic to it.

We had defensive crises under Fergie, yet he pretty much invariably stuck to four at the back.

What's the point in exacerbating the issue by introducing an unfamiliar system that our players aren't comfortable in?

We should be able to trust a back four of Valencia, Smalling, Jones and Rojo to play away to QPR, especially with diligent players like Carrick and Blind screening them.

LvG has totally overengineered his solution to the defensive problem.

Swap Blind and Carrick and I'd agree.
I don't think Carrick has the mobility to 'hold' midfield by himself, i feel he's always struggled when given that role. Nor does he have the discipline and willingness to run to provide a constant outlet for the CBs, as Blind does, which keeps us from hoofing.

There's five at the back, There's five at the baaaaack... it's clearly working, there's 5 at the back.

To be fair, I don't mind so long as ADM isn't up front, and if we go behind and it's later in the game, we change it up.

You know he will be though..

So Di Maria upfront or in midfield?

I'd expect to be Rooney in midfield and Di Maria upfront.

It's going to be another long boring afternoon.
It's weird how a sentence including Rooney and Di Maria and the word boring could be used and be so true.

If the system is that important, surely you need to change the players because at the moment, it's not working. If it's di Maria up top with Rooney in MF again then i can't see what's going to make it all click. Hopefully QPR don't press much and Carrick can run the show, that would be our only hope for a good performance

Evans over Smalling is more mental then 3-5-2.

    This genuinely angers me.

wow, i don't want evans anywhere near this team. He is a car wreck waiting to concede a goal.

Jonny Evans and Marcos Rojo at the back is an ancient waiting to happen. No chance we'll keep a clean sheet today.

    With those players I'd do

    De Gea
    Valencia Jones Smalling Rojo
    Carrick Blind
    Mata Rooney Di Maria
    Falcao

No chance of anything other then a 3-5-2 though

I was about to post this exact lineup. I hope you don't mind but I'm just going to look at your post and imagine a 4231 to give myself some false hope.

Almost 150m spent in summer and we have...

    cm as left back.
right winger (shit one) as right back.
striker as a midfielder (a shit one)
Midfielder (one of best in world) as a striker
    cm on bench.

    You bloody dutch pancake

People have a go at Evans, but for me Rojo is just as bad, don't see what he brings to this team and never understood this signing.

Reckon Smalling's picked up a knock again. There's no other reason why he would make such a change.
Me too. There had better be an injury to Smalling otherwise it makes ZERO sense.

The thing is, whats worse, LVG just picking Evans over Smalling, or Smalling being injured again?

    I'm not even sure

Fairly normal stuff in here. Anyone who doesn't get their desired lineup quickly finds a soapbox to moan about it.

No, most don't give a shit which players he picks, it's the stupid formation his ego is determined to force on us that is the issue.

Maybe Evans in because he can play LCB better while Rojo is a left back in a back four? I'm seriously hoping it's 4 at the back and i think it could be. Rojo played there for us a lot of times while Shaw was injured.
