3-5-2 I assume. We'll probably win because QPR are awful and that will vindicate it in his mind.

Afternoon gents. Are we going to persist with this Rooney as a midfielder?

    Sadly it's probably the case.

However, everyone should keep in mind it took Holland the better part of a year to start looking good in a 352.
Dunno about qualifiers and friendlies but Holland didn't really look that good using it in the World Cup besides the Spain match. Most of their games were boring like ours and he brought on Depay to change things a lot of the time.

Another disappointing lineup. Blind as LWB? Wonder whether we'll get a shot on goal today.

Good to have 3 CB's against Charlie Austin as the lone striker. Austin is a fantastic player with the ability to win games on his own, can see him sign for a top 3 club in England or Spain at the end of the season.
QPR are playing a 442 with Austin and Zamora up front.

At least we aren't sticking 3 defenders on 1 striker like against Southampton.

Different day, same shit, quelle surprise. With so many good players on our bench we're again playing to nobody's strengths. It's shambles QPR so we'll probably win but to be fair I wouldn't be surprised if we drop points again which will be ridiculous again.

There's five at the back, There's five at the baaaaack... it's clearly working, there's 5 at the back.

To be fair, I don't mind so long as ADM isn't up front, and if we go behind and it's later in the game, we change it up.

So another 90 minutes of LVG's ego taking precedence over absolutely everything else then.

Think I'll give it a skip tbh.

Thanks. Has Blackett been dropped due to his culpability in the Southampton goal do you think?

Oh and it's just occurred to me that that means no Rafael or Shaw either, i haven't hear word of new injuries to them.
I actually wouldn't put it past him, he will have sugar coated it for the kids, but it is likely.

Mata, Rooney, Di Maria and Falcao... Yeah totally uninspiring! I wish we had Jozy Altidore, Stephen Ireland and David Nugent leading the front. Sigh...
Yeah, Mata in central midfield, Rooney in central midfield, Di Maria upfront, Falcao? I'm struggling to see what's so inspiring about the man whose second touch is quite often a 50/50 challenge.

Because we have no natural full backs and a weak, constantly changing, centre back partnership?

Why do people just ignore this? I hate the 3-5-2. But there is a logic to it.
And that weak, constantly changing centre back partnership is suited to a back 3? I've seen no evidence of that.

I realise you are annoyed about the formation

But whoever thought a line up including names like di Maria, Falcao and mata would be considered uninspiring
When they're doing feck all in said line up, it becomes pretty uninspiring.

We keep playing our best striker in CM despite having Fellaini and Herrera fit and Blind without any need playing LWB. I'm seriously sick of this, this is insane, LVG is just being stubborn. He's getting himself sacked at the end of the season with this piece of shite 3-5-2, because we're not going to improve magically. It will be yet another shite game, there is no doubt about that.

We could play a diamond with the very same players!

    De Gea
    Valencia - Smalling - Jones - Rojo
    Carrick
    Mata - Blind
    Di Maria
    Rooney - Falcao

The problem here is the philosophy says you can't plays two right footed CB's together.

If Evans is starting then I will lose my shit.

That will annoy me more then any 3-5-2 could ever do.

It's 3:5:2 don't even try to convince yourself that it is not 3:5:2 :)

QPR are playing a 442 with Austin and Zamora up front.

At least we aren't sticking 3 defenders on 1 striker like against Southampton.
Ah ok, Zamora is decent when he's fit so could be a problem for our CB's.

Di Maria up front, Rooney in an incredibly one-paced midfield, 3 centre-backs (including the dreadful Evans)... deary me.

So another 90 minutes of LVG's ego taking precedence over absolutely everything else then.

Think I'll give it a skip tbh.

That's about the size of it, yep.

If we dont get a win here with this formation, this place will go mental. I will be one of them!

    .................Dave
    Valencia Jones Smalling Rojo
    ............Carrick Blind
    .......Mata Rooney Di Maria
    ................Falcao

    4-2-3-1

I'm really hoping we do this but wouldn't be surprised if it's 3-5-2 with Val and Rojo as wing backs!!!!

I will spend the next hour hoping and praying we line up like this:

    DDG
    Valencia - Smalling - Jones - Rojo
    Carrick - Blind
Rooney - Mata - Di Maria
    Falcao

    and not this:

    DDG
    Smalling Jones Rojo
    Valencia Rooney Carrick Mata Blind
    Di Maria Falcao

I really dont see how Blind or Rojo fit his profile of a wing back though, so we could be in luck! (Unless ADM is out there instead)

Because we have no natural full backs and a weak, constantly changing, centre back partnership?

Why do people just ignore this? I hate the 3-5-2. But there is a logic to it.

We battered Stoke and Hull with Young and Valencia as full backs in a back four.

Kept a clean sheet with Blackett and Evans against QPR in a back four.

We could have easily put out a back line of Valencia, Smalling, Rojo and Blind today, which would have been comfortably good enough to keep QPR quiet going forward.

That said, as some have suggested, it could possibly be a 4231, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

He played it with Ajax as well(I think) .

No he didn't. Ajax played 3-4-3. Finidi George and Overmars were proper wingers and Rijkaard would drop back into defence to make a four man back line when facing attacks.
