    We need to sit deep, soak up the pressure and hit them on the counter - a typical Jose Mourinho performance. A little cowardly, granted, but nonetheless effective. I cannot see any other way of getting a positive result.

    It will be a difficult game. If we sit deep, they will just pass the ball around, knowing they have a 2-0 lead and we are the ones who need to be proactive. And they can keep the ball for long periods. If we attack them and press them, we leave too much space for their quick players for counter attacks and 1vs1, and also Mbappe. With our team being so young and inexperienced in the CL, i am not really positive, i just hope we dont get spanked and come away with no injuries.

    We need to score 3 goals to win. So offense wins this one, not defense. A 1-0 win is no good to us...

    That's pretty much exactly how I feel, and most people I've spoken to about it feel the same way.

    A midfield consisting of Fred, Periera and Mctominay just isn't good enough to give PSG a game. Sad but true.

    I'd rather not get a pasting personally, the best Pereira has looked was when we played him as a #10 for starters so him in behind the 2 strikers and then Dalot attacking as a wingback in my system is not defensive, we have attacking outlets in mine but we also offer some protection for our very inexperienced midfield.

    It's not negativity, people are just being realistic, they are better than us to begin with, they have 2 away goals and we are missing half of our main starters. I'm personally looking forward to the game as I think we'll put in a decent performance and have a go, but I don't expect anything but a defeat realistically.

    Call it a 3-5-2 if you like, but it is a 5-3-2 and nobody can ever convince me that it's anything but a defensive line up. The only way a 3-5-2 is actually a 3-5-2 is if it's with one central defender and 2 full backs. We need to score goals. Having less players in and around their 18 isn't the way to do it. If Pogba was available I would be all for a 4-3-3. Without Pogba I think our best chance of scoring goals is with traditional wingers whipping in crosses to 2 strikers. So for me a 4-4-2 is the way to go. Call me old school, but this is my opinion and you are more than welcome to disagree with me...

    Besides, if it goes to extra time, then we can exchange goals during the extra time and still go through

    3-5-2 is only defensive if your wingback's play deep, going to one of the best teams in Europe with has-been winger and a kid as the two flank options is suicide, at the very least in the system you're suggesting I'd play Dalot as the RW and Pereira on the LW, but I don't see Ole playing 4-4-2 and risk the young team getting humiliated.

    Dunno. Reaching a penalty shootout would exceed expectations by far, no doubt, but "perfect" would be simply going through. A 2-0 is an incredible achievement; 3-1 is perfect.

    I'm going with what we have and how I would do things. I know that Ole will go with either a 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 diamond though. However, i have always preferred a traditional 4-4-2 and that hasn't changed. And like I said, try as you might, but nobody can convince me that a 5-3-2 (call it a 3-5-2 all you want) isn't a defensive line up, because it is. Call them wings backs all you want, but they are full backs. Whether it's Young, Dalot or Shaw, their style of play doesn't change whether it's a 5-3-2, 4-4-2 or 4-3-3. Full backs attack. The difference is, in a 4 man defense that leaves 2 guys in the back when we are attacking and more players in and around their 18, but when it's 5 in the back it leaves 3 defenders in the back when we are attacking and one less player in and around their 18....

    Not really because in a lot of systems with a traditional back there's a holding midfielder that drops in to make a back 3 anyway when the fullbacks bomb on. No formation is inherently defensive or offensive, the personnel and managers intructions dictate how the formation is used, for instance 4-4-2 is seen as ultra attacking but Atleti play it as a defensive based formation.
     
    Great opportunity for some of the less experienced players. Read on Twitter that Veratti has more Champions League appearances than the entirety of the midfielders in our travelling squad. :lol:

    You are probably right, but god I HOPE you're wrong! 1-0 at half time and we are right in this!
     
    I'd play all the kids and tell them to just go and attack and try to have fun tbh. Feck it.

    Definitely have Dalot, McTominay, Pereira, Chong and/or Greenwood in there. Lukaku and Fred as well of course.

    Young has been especially garbage of late and part of that is probably fatigue, so he needs a rest. Fortunately Pogba has an enforced rest as well.
     
    We beat them 3-1 or 3-0 and I will do whatever you guys want.
