This tie is not over lads !

Not sure whether tonight gives us greter motivation or acts as a greater warning for PSG.

I hope we take some inspiration from the Ajax performance.

Why shouldn't we score the 1-0.....we still have Rashford and Lukaku is in good form too or maybe we will score from a set-piece.

If PSG are scoring the first goal then it's surely over.

Why? Even if we score first we need 2 more and 3 goals in total to go through. Extra time and penalties isn’t a guarantee of us qualifying.

If they score first we still only need 3 goals to go through.

That game was one of the best in football history in terms of entertainment. That’s why people watch soccer!
It involved Solskjaer, we just need Lukaku emulate RvN and Rashford with freekick magic.

    No pressure.

Beating PSG by two goals or more at home would be a massive achievement. Call me a defeatist but I think it's also massively unlikely. I would love to be wrong.

Everytime Ole talks about conceding that first goal from a set piece, I get a little miffed as Kimpembe should have been long gone off the pitch before then. Surely the European refs owe us a fairer game by now.

That said, I would take a narrow win or draw as I think winning away at PSG by 2 clear goals is a tall ask - it might not get us through, but a strong performance would boost the confidence of the young guns and the team to push to to get 3rd/4th place. Go out with a bang at least.

If we pull off a shock result like Ajax, well....:devil:

If you could ignore the name of the away club in this fixture it would be one of the biggest CL upsets in recent years, bigger than Ajax tonight. Ole wanted to compare this fixture to the Juventus game in Turin in '99 but that result wouldn't even put United through against Paris. United had Keane there, how's the midfield looking now? Half the starting lineup is missing and half the players that would have come in are missing. You are absolutely forgiven for having a defeatist attitude. I've written this game off and got my worries set for our "game of the season" next weekend instead.

I think we should all just remember one thing. This crazy game of football is one where literally anything can and has happened. Plus, it's not like it's Bolton against PSG, we're fecking Manchester United. Even with a depleted squad, we have enough to best them even at their own ground. If the right tactics are used and maybe a bit of luck comes our way then we'll beat them.

Is it normal for a suspended player to travel and train with the squad? Surprised to see Pogba there.

All the coaches have gone there so makes sense. He'd be either training by himself or with the U23s

Flying over in the morning , can’t wait for this . Would love to see greenwood out there.

Ajax fans were probably saying the same thing yesterday.

I am less worried about this game after seeing them in the first leg, I thought they were going to outclass us and play us off the field. The ref really destroyed the game for us with his stupid yellow cards so early in the game.
The pressure is off, the guys should go for it, nothing to lose.

Forget Ajax, we are done. This is over. There's no hope. When has Manchester United ever been known to comeback from anything? duh...

As long as we don't get battered, I couldn't complain against a loss. It would take a very good performance to get a draw. A win would be special, and would immensely boost Ole's stature worldwide, cementing his place as our manager for the next couple of years to come.

Going through by overcoming the 2 goal deficit at home? I'll be convinced that he is our Guardiola, and that he will win us the CL some day.

For reference, here's our away history against CL opposition in the knockout stages of the CL, all the way back to the 1999-2000 season:

    Mourinho

    00-01 - QF: Bayern (A) / 1-2 L

    99-00 - QF: Real Madrid (A) / 0-0 D

Only once in the last 20 years have we had a score good enough to overturn a 2-0 defeat at home in the CL - at Arsenal in the semi-final of 08-09.

Some players who started that day: VDS, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Carrick; Ji-sung Park, Rooney, Ronaldo. On the bench: Berbatov, Giggs, Scholes, Tevez

In fact, I'm surprised to find out that we've never been at a 2 goal deficit or more at home in our entire history of European football. The 0-2 at home to PSG was Man United's heaviest defeat in any European game at home since 1956.

Just leaving this here in the wake of the irrational optimism following Ajax's win yesterday. Also dropping a gentle reminder that we will be without Pogba, Matic, Herrera, Martial, Lingard and Mata, while PSG might have Cavani back in addition to Mbappe, Di Maria, Draxler and Verratti.

    If we want to win

    DDG
    Dalot - Smalling - Lindelof - Shaw
    Gomes - McTominay
    Lukaku - Pereira - Rashford
    Greenwood

My little finger tells me that we still have a decent chance, provided that we don't concede at all, we should not be afraid of PSG.

I want to beleive but the team under Ole is just too naive at this point, I will be happy with a good, rousing perfomance to set us up for the weekend (oh and no injuries)

We beat Spurs and Chelsea and drew with Livepool despite all the injuries. PSG are a level above all those but we haven't looked anything close to as naive as people were expecting before those games. A lot of people were saying Ole would get found out against the better teams, but he hasn't. PSG were simply too good for us at OT, nothing more to it.
