Cracking line up. Keeper aside id say it's what we should see until may - form dependent

The theoretical strongest back 6 there with Varane-Martinez and Casemiro-Mainoo

Mainoo would have more freedom today with Casemiro back. Amad is the strongest forward on the bench so hopefully he gets 20+ minutes.

Strong side. Good to see Martinez, Shaw and Casemiro in. Only thing I hoped to see in that was Amad in for Antony, but I get it. Ten Hag can't really admit that Antony is a failure because he pushed so hard for him so he'll live and die by that call. Hopefully we bring Amad on for Antony at some point though, because the guy just really bothers me.

All good, except Antony. But hey, maybe against League Two defenders he will do better... nah.

Thats not too far away from our strongest side at the moment - much closer than we have been for most of the season

Our strongest possible starting 11 considering no Rashford and Onana.
Antony isn't part of the strongest 11 despite Ten Hags insistence on using him, but otherwise yeah. Amad in his 20 minutes looked far more talented IMO.

He could do with some flat track bullying. Hopefully he scores a hat trick and gets some confidence, he could use it.

Happy to see Casemiro and Mainoo play together in a competitive game finally, even if it is against a League Two side on a farmer's field.

We should be smoking these with that team. Thought we might play Eriksen over Casemiro, otherwise 10/11.

Be interesting to if Antony looks like he has anything even against a League 2 side. Is it the level of opposition or more systematic, why he looks so devoid of end product?

With that starting XI there can be no excuses whatsoever. If the tie isn’t over as a contest within 30 minutes at the latest something is seriously wrong

Confidence won't make him good in the premier league, it's a lack of explosiveness, intelligence and talent that is his problem in the prem

Good to see some of the injured players back. I would, however, liked to see 1 or 2 new young players in the line-up.

Casemiro and Mainoo playing together is at least a promising sign.

Yeah, I know, although I definitely wouldn't include him in the strongest XI. I think we are going to smash them, though. I just hope the pitch isn't shit enough to cause any more injuries. We should have this wrapped up in the first half and then cruise to the end.

It’s the league and this. Ten Hagg needs a good run so I completely understand how he can’t prioritise blooding in youngsters.

Players have had a long enough rest.

That’ll do it. I’d have preferred to see Amad given a run out as well, but if Antony is playing I hope he does well regardless.

That’s our strongest team. No more injuries excuses.

Be interesting to see how Mainoo and Casemiro play, as in, will it be more of a double pivot, or will one of them push up into the half spaces.

I'm hoping it's the former, as I feel that, not only do we have a better build up, but we're stronger off the ball and have better protection.

Other than that, a strong team. Nice to see some players back.

Already said it in here once but sticking with Antony who's had countless chances and not giving Amad a proper run is an absolute disgrace by the manager

Its great for the Newport fans to see that we've started, arguably, our best 11.
