Newport are a mid table league 2 side. We should be using this to get minutes for those returning for injury, and not starting the players who'll start the Thursday/Sunday vs Wolves & West Ham. If our bench isn't good enough to beat Newport then they shouldn't be here.

    Kambwala - Evans - Martinez - Shaw
    Casemiro - Eriksen
    Amad - Mount - Antony
    McTominay

Looks like Cameroon might be knocked out of AFCON, so we’ll probably be seeing him playing in this game.

Good grief. You have to feel for Bayindir at this point.

Took a quick look to see who knocked Newport out of the league cup this year.

It was Brentford after 1-1 draw and won via a penalty shootout hmm..

These lower league teams are no pushover when it comes to the FA Cup, complacency is the enemy, Newport needed a replay to get past non-League Eastleigh. It's a small tight ground, it will be packed to the rafters in quite an intimidating atmosphere.

Guaranteed we'll play a strong team to maintain fitness given we've a weekend off. Hopefully score some goals this time.

As we should. All we have to play for is this cup now - as I think top 4 is nearly unmathematically improbable for us.

    Scotty up front. Love it.

Scott, Scott will McTear them apart.

Would be nice to see some youth, but it makes sense to play quite a lot of senior players who are either on their way back or low on confidence. Minutes for Martinez, Casemiro, Amad, Rashford, Hojlund, Antony ideally. Perhaps even the likes of Shaw, Malacia, Maguire and Mount too if possible.

Be interested to see who's still at the club when this game rolls around and not gone on loan, from a youth prospect perspective

This is wild to really think about. That list of players coming back would be better than a lot of teams. You can make a starting XI with all our injuries. Just replace Rashford and Hojlund with Martial and Arambat to the list of guys that need some playing time after injury.

With all due respect to Newport, it shouldn't matter who we play, so never a better game to blood some youngsters, couple of first teamers and more fringe players, should still coast.
    3-0.

Even first teamers are flaky especially when they fall behind and let the away crowd atmosphere get to them.

The suitable thing to do in this game is to pick the strongest available team, end the game as a contest as quickly as possible and then start to sub off the most important first teamers and give minutes to the fringe players.

I agree with this but I'd probably throw big Willy and Amad in the starting line up if they're available.

any way we can get the plane delayed? By say, a year?

Newport is my home city so a bunch of people I know support County and some of them honestly think they will win, not just against a weak team mind.

Any idea on how much away tickets there are?
    Rodney parade don't hold much.
They've put in a temporary stand I think 13,000 altogether. So that won't be many utd fans.

Newport beat Wrexham last weekend as well, they've also had some decent Fa cup games v Bigger clubs, this won't be easy, and if I'm ETH I put out strongest side he can

    No, we won't do this.

Our main team wouldn't have played since the 14th doing this, in which time Wolves will have played twice. We need our players up to speed. Include players who need game time from injury (Mount, Casemiro, Shaw) with the other main players, but just bring subs on after 60mins+ when the jobs done.

Looking forward to this. Play our strongest possible team and not even Eriks tactics will keep us from looking like the better team.
