We do have some quality on the pitch but I genuinely believe our midfield 2 is one of the worst in the league. genuinely. Obviously a major major issue. Replace them with any competent professional footballer who has 5+ years experience in central midfield in the top 2 tiers of English football in January and we would improve. That is genuinely a fact.

TBH don't quite see what system we are playing....

no system. Players don’t know what to do. Ole would’ve been hammered for this pathetic display.

Also, aren’t we supposed to be pressing high? Haven’t seen that except in the first game in charge

Rashford needs to be hauled off at halftime and put on the transfer list. Utter garbage from him again. Cant remember the last time he actually put in a decent performance.

As bad as ever. Starting to feel United is a hopeless case at this point.
Got to give RR a few months at least. Only 3-4 training sessions have happened because of covid he said earlier. We look crap, let’s hope we up it second half.

    De Gea
    Dalot Varane Maguire Telles
    VdB McTominay
    Sancho Fernandes
    Ronaldo Cavani

VdB Sancho and Cavani on please.

    Fred, Rashford and Greenwood off.

Wow that was bad, as bad as any half of football over the past few seasons.

Ralf has some decisions to make, starting with the following in my view:

    - formation doesn’t work, we need width.
    - Rashford isn’t in the game and/or interested. Needs taking out of the team for Sancho.
    - They’re playing through our midfield too easy, we need an extra man in there imo, either drop Bruno deeper as an 8 or bring DvB on, but the latter means subbing Bruno.
"Width" is useless unless you can cross or pass the ball crossfield quickly, which we cannot do.

Fecking tragic performance. Looks like we need about five players watching this bollocks. CM has no quality whatsoever without Pogba.
Yet we’re desperate to get rid, the midfield every game are shocking, they get praise in the odd game for defending well when we are getting BATTERED by bottom of the league fodder.

We look shocking out there. Easily the worst half under Rangnick so far.

The defense has been unbelievably shaky with Varane and Maguire having multiple brainfarts between them. Going forward hasn't been much better. No obvious mistakes but too mnay players just being anonymous. Overall we look totally devoid of creativity or ideas.

Rangnick isn't going to change things in a month. We were demolished by Watford and have been out played in almost every game this season. People have really buried their heads in the sand how much we've regressed this season.

I will say we're slightly unlucky with the goal - no way was ASM trying to hit the ball like that - straight into the side netting. BUT, surely one or two of our coaches will have told our captain, Maguire, that he's singularly right-footed, so show him left? But no, good ole Harry invites him over to his stronger foot, into the box.

A big problem for us has always been playing players in the right position. Why is Rashford playing on the right once again? We worked out he couldn’t play there under Mourinho. We sign Sancho for the right and I don’t think he’s actually started on the correct wing. Bruno has been all over the place all season. Changing formation isn’t going to change much unless we replace the two CM. They are the problem.

Rangnick's system does not appear to suit this group of player. They should be doing better but so should he.

Greenwood will come off, has been anonymous, Cavani will make a difference with his runs, too much in front of Newcastle. As bad as Rashers has been his movement will save him, we have too few players who threaten behind. If Ronaldo wasn't Ronaldo he would be off.
I'd say Ronaldo was even more anonymous than him.

Previously a lot of fans said that players were lethargic because they had no time to recover from games.
When they had a week off, the new excuse was that RR was pushing them hard in training (which I never believed).
What's the excuse now? they've had 2 weeks off, so would've had time to work on fitness, rest and tactics.
    It is quite shocking.

I trust Ralf R a lot, but this kind of performance does worry me.
Most teams we play would love to swap squads with us, yet they seem to play better than us, with their inferior squads.

We won't do anything as long as we give the ball away so cheaply all the time.

The attitude stinks as well. Rashford was within a yard or two of a Newcastle playing trying to control a loose ball on the edge of their box. Instead of trying to win the ball he was asking for a handball. Play to the whistle ffs.

"Luckily" it's off the back of covid issues, which might explain a bit of it, but this is a woeful performance.
We can still win it what with it being Newcastle though.

Our full backs are not good enough at all.

Rashford far too arrogant and still stinking the place out.

Bruno wasteful, so wasteful and Ronaldo looks slow and cumbersome.

Never known a team give the ball away so often, there is so little movement off the ball that we are trying pointless hollywood passes all the time

Poor tactics overall and the players look terrible. I can't think of anyone who's doing really well, but I'd like to see Cavani in the second half.

Ralf is trying to crowd the midfield to compensate for how terrible it is, but we're really poor and it's not working. He needs to try something different.

Absolutely crap. We play such dire football is unbelievable.

Do we have one player who's best skill is "passing"?... I don't think we do, and it shows.

He was right on top of it as well. Wilson obviously didn't dive, he's hurt himself there, but there wasn't anything close to contact

Just one of those bizarre things.
Like Maguire clattering someone and manically pointing at the ball as if he'd got anywhere near it.

Or the co-commentator saying it's "good news" that Wilson, who very obviously had a calf injury...erm, had a calf injury.

A depressingly familiar story. Newcastle haven’t had to be good for their lead, just capitalising on a defensive error.

Meanwhile, we offer nothing and Sancho is going to be a loss whenever he’s not playing because he’s the only who can currently go past opponents.

I'm not sure how Rashford has stayed in the starting lineup after his recent performances. Same as Fred.

How have you gone from Ole doing everything at the club, including scouting and negotiating transfer fees/players wages to him being nothing but a glorified cheerleader in two posts? Fair fecking play, that's quite a turnaround.

You're blaming the scouting team and the negotiating team not me. All I know is that every man and his dog knew whose these players were and that if we went for them then they would be expensive to get. There was no need for scouts to discover them and even the best negotiating team would not be able to lower their price down.

However considering that the guy did no coaching, his tactics were non existent and he was capable to go on a holiday in a middle of a crisis then I don't blame you if he needed scouts to discover obvious players for him as well.

Ronaldo and McTominay have been appalling. Don't really have much more to add.

Rashford probably our best player. Most if the stuff he has tried hasn't come off. But he's the only player on the pitch looking to create.

Longstick is bossing Fred who is having a mare.
    McT is bang average.
Varane was clearly rushed in just like Maguire.
Maguire with his usual brain farts.
    St. Maximin looks like Ronaldo.
The true Ronaldo had his comedy kick.
Rashford is currently our worst player.
We look nervous and without confidence for some reason.
Are we sure that Ole was the (only) problem?

once again we are making shelvey look like a class player when he's little more than a donkey

Sell everybody and fire the management and coaching team. Then put all of the possible players and coaching staff in world football in a tombola bin and start again. If you didn’t know, you’d think that we’d already tried that approach.

Well not the best half, like Sancho on and the team to seem like they are interested in winning this game of football.

We better get our act together very quickly or top 4 will be out of sight. The two worst teams in the league Norwich and Newcastle and we make them look like fecking Bayern Munich. :wenger:

All tempo, no composure. Like a kid mashing buttons for FIFA with the run modifier pressed continuously. I guess it's growing pains with a new system but it's infuriating to watch.

We don't have any tempo, a bit of half-arsed pressing but nowhere near the effort we've seen before (or we're seeing from Newcastle tonight).

The rest I agree with, some of the players were rattled by the atmosphere to start with, and as we've acclimatised we've desperately lacked some quality.
