Well yeah that's what I alluded to in my response. It's 'decent' by virtue of the fact that we don't look like a Sunday league team playing their first game together. But it's still like absolutely nowhere near good enough. If this is the best we can muster up then the next 4 games will be painful.

Baby steps! At this rate we might actually give Chelsea a game... (when we play them next February...)

Owen Hargreaves pundit on the channel I'm watching. Does he hate United?
Tony Adams was more positive about United's performance. That says a lot.
He hates us. Only reason he joined City. Been bitter ever since he left

Have been the much better team with Newcastle scoring from pretty much the only time they got in the United box with an unbelievable defelection.

I fully expect 2-1 defeat with a Callum Wilson scuffed penalty and De Gea going the wrong way as per.

Lindelof was spun too easily, needs to either win it or commit the foul there. Fernandes, James, Rashford and Mata have all looked bright. So like usual, decent going forward, shambles at the back.

Surprised Bruce hasn't really got them in our faces. Glad he hasn't but you'd have thought they'd have come out all guns blazing with the start to the season we've had.

After a freak and shambolic start, am happy with how the team settled, created several chances and worked really hard. Our fitness levels are now good and there was also some nice patterns and interplay, especially down the left flank.

very happy maguire got his goal, he’s been influential, as has Shaw, Bruno and Mata. James is a chameleon: Newcastle can’t handle his pace, but he doesn’t have other attributes to make that count.

hope we see Telles in 2nd half: id play him on the left wing. Also hope Ole leave Pogna on the bench for the whole game
    and let him stew.

our superior class will show on 2nd half

Nah Im winding you up. United will win 3-1. I know what you mean though, the gloom here is suffocating. 'Can't believe we need Fred and McT to look solid, shows where we are'...

    ...but...it's good thing that we're looking solid...wtf....

McTom is regressing so much. Slow, can't tackle, not much energy. That's an anti-thesis of B2B or DM.

Decent half. Following the own goal by Shaw, we reacted well and played some decent stuff. Good tempo, got into good areas, etc.

Going into the second half, if we can be a bit better in the final third regards decision making, then we should win this.

Not watching game but it was interesting to see you say United were playing with a 'good tempo'. This is what, in my opinion, we've been lacking. Whether it's Fred and Scott for Pogba and Matic i'm not sure, but a United team, as far back as I can remember, has always played with a quick tempo, and always went forward with pace, it will be great if we can play something like that.

Best league performance of the year for us so far. Mata has been great.

I disagree with the notion that we're playing "well".

Possession does not mean we're playing well. 13 shots and yet this is incredibly dull to watch.

Also, how many of those shots belong to Dan James?

I guess you have noticed the quick passing and interchanges? What do you want to see?

When you've got a defensive fullback you play a proper winger in front of him. Everyone knew AWB wasnt spectacular going forward, seems unfair expecting him to provide width.

Sometimes it looks like Mata and Bruno are playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers, though they also look unfamiliar with each other at critical junctures occasionally.

Yes, it sort feel like the performance isn't actually much better than those in the other three, just that Newcastle have been so poor.

That we are drawing against a team playing like they are is not really a positive sign.

A lot of the shots have been tame from distance. Only really the Rashford one actually tested their Goalkeeper. Oh, and the Bissaka one which was really a cross.

We were clearly sent out to get at them and be aggressive. You can't really blme Lindelof for that so far into their half.

That same aggression is what has stopped them from getting at us very often. Good to see, I hope we keep it going.

Sadly (is it?) I'm not watching cos of work. Just following online. So who does Pogba need to come in for to ensure we win the game second half? Or is it Greenwood/VDB? Or are we doing enough to ensure that already?
We looks better at pressing the ball without Pogba. Fred and McT have protect the defense really well. James has a good game but VdB on would be better.

What the hell? First time in a quite few games our midfield is dominating opposition and you want to brake it?
Newcastle are piss poor. Ya let’s leave things as they are with 2 midfielders that can’t create.

    Pleased for maguire
James looks lively.but no quality or end product.

    AWB not great,

    Hope to see Telles

Spot on. He gave the ball away with his first touch and then got spun like an amateur which allowed them to counter and led to the goal.

Looks like McFred+Bruno is a way to go. VdB can play in any of the trio positions. Every match one of them would be rested. Matic - tactical sub. Pogba - bye bye

    Maguire has been good.
Yeah, he’s been very assured on the ball and keeping it simple, hopefully he plays himself into some form.
Pleasantly surprised by that to be honest.

James was good imo, just has no end product. Mata, despite being ancient is still the only player in our team with real footballing IQ besides Bruno. Fred and McTomminay both very solid and did what a bloody CM is supposed to do.

Payed close attention to Maguire and he was immense all game. Watch closely now as i jinx him and he makes a howler in the 2nd
Fred has broken up play okay but hai passing has been awful.
