Only thing I'd praise in this game is that we are now playing with urgency. Rest of it is just Newcastle being dogshit

We are playing well and are obviously the better team. James, Mata and Bruno have been very good. I love the quick one-touch passing.

If we continue like this we should win....but you know football.

Really agree, there's something extremely threatening about him when he runs with the ball, defenders look terrified. How he lost that for a calendar year is a mystery, but it's nice to see it back.
He didn’t lose it. He was played on the right and when he was forced to cut into the left he wasn’t as effective. Now that he can cut in from the left onto his right foot he’s a lot more comfortable

Greenwood isn’t on. Not even on the bench

Fred/McT or Mata are the obvious candidates but their work rate is higher than Pogbas

Thanks! Didn't know Greenwood was totally absent. Hope all's well there. And hoping even more for 3 points. Couldn't care less how that's achieved for now...

What's a worst deal? £80m for Maguire or £50m for AWB. I genuinely think it's the latter.
kn hell mate wind it in. He really is not that bad at all. Young defender and developing. Defensively sound and work to do going forward. Never was the finished article when he signed and is not the finished article now

I think a lot of fans got worked up watching Trent over at Liverpool and use that as THE bar for an all round full back . Shut his offensive game down and as a defender he is fekkin horrible. Get behind the lad ffs or is the norm now just shtting, on our own players every game.

Seeing that first goal back again, De Gea is about 1metre away from the ball and doesn't move.
It wasn't going at 100mph. Odd.

De Gea loves that thing goalkeepers do when they just stand there seemingly wrongfooted and watch the call go in.

That would be a poor game in normal times but given our start it's an okay performances.

We're certainly the better team though.

At least save this nonsense for when they're playing badly.
Maguire has been fine today and scored a key goal.

If Ole wants to save his job, I believe in matches like this he has to look elsewhere at RB. AWB has so much space because we're so dangerous on the left, but teams might as well take a rest when the ball gets to him as the odds of anything happening are near nil. All it really does is create a counter opportunity because he tends to be so far up the pitch when he inevitably loses it.

Williams, Laird - heck do the Fergie thing and put an attacker there. But this experiment of playing without a football at RB is really not working out.

I agree, AWB is desperately poor on the ball. He just does have sufficient quality on the ball to start for us. I know we spent 50m on him but we need to replace him, sick of seeing move after move break down when it reaches him.

I mean compared to what's been served up so far this season? Yeah I'd say decent...

I mean the fact that we haven't looked like conceding about 12 goals is a big plus.

Well yeah that's what I alluded to in my response. It's 'decent' by virtue of the fact that we don't look like a Sunday league team playing their first game together. But it's still like absolutely nowhere near good enough. If this is the best we can muster up then the next 4 games will be painful.

Conceded early, but have played the better football in that half. Deserved to get at least one goal and maybe have done enough to be leading in this game. I hope we get an early second goal in the second half and then carry on to secure the game. Rashford looks in the mood for a goal.

This is the sort of game where a big win could be a big boost for our confidence. Newcastle have looked more than beatable in that half. We could score two or three more, if we really want it.

I ain't gonna read the thread.
Just want to say we are doing fine.
James is good except for his week finishing and a few doubtful decisions.
Wan Bissaka is good offensively except for a few doubtful decisions.
Fred is excellent as usual. Him and Scott need to start every game.
    Mata is excellent.
Very happy with Victor and Harry.
    We got this.

Owen Hargreaves pundit on the channel I'm watching. Does he hate United?
Tony Adams was more positive about United's performance. That says a lot.

They are a very functional midfield. Showed that so many times now. As long as there is creativity in the other positions we are okay.

Exactly. Liverpool is a good example of this. Nothing highly creative in midfield (prior to Thiago) but full of hard-workers, with creativity coming from full-backs and forwards.

I disagree with the notion that we're playing "well".

Possession does not mean we're playing well. 13 shots and yet this is incredibly dull to watch.

Also, how many of those shots belong to Dan James?

Newcastle are leaving lots of room in the middle for Bruno and others and unless they address that, we will score some more.
