Mount is like when we put Fred on to play up front in Europa League but without the swagger and end productCredit to Wolves. They aren't ultra aggressive in their pressing, just letting us pass it around our own 18, clogging up the middle.

Definitely hasn'tUs not scoring is in some way expected but our approach play being so bad is very surprising.
We should be much better in the second half as it's too slow. The crowd also need to do their part as this might be the worst atmosphere I've heard for a season opener.
Rashford up front is so bad for the team in general. It's not all his fault but his inability to be a presence up front and bring others into play is really poor.
It's only one game so we can't judge it yet but there was quite a few of us saying this in ddg threads all last season.
The gk won't change how well we play if we don't fix the midfield.
The weakest player we had last season was WW at striker but after that, CM was our worst position and it doesn't look like we've upgraded.

The problem is that when you want to play the whole “oh our GK and defenders can handle all of the build up” you need elite technicians in the midfield/attack to receive those tough passes between the lines from the defense without giving it away. But we don’t really have that. Mount and Antony are decent but not elite in that respect but the rest are somewhat poor.Clearly a system issue as Casemiro is being left completely isolated as mount is too high and/or the fullback isn't tucking in quick enough

Let Rashford and Anthony play as strikers with Sancho in the '10' as a false 9.
When needed, he can help in Midfield and when the game opens up, split the strikers wide and you end up with your 4-3-3.
This allows you to have Bruno and Mount playing more box to box roles so there's always 1 of them in an area to help Casemiro.

Like you watched a different game, clueless.I really think these pre season tours we do hurt more than they help. The Lens game was seemingly the most useful but the rest of em it felt like we played at half speed or our starters got limited minutes. Its no surprise that often the smaller clubs seem to come out of the gate hotter.We’ve seen this performance so many times before especially against Wolves. I don’t know how ETH changes it but even though it was the first game I was hoping the see an improvement. We need to buy technically proficient players. Even the likes of Bruno and Rashford just lack some of the basics to a shocking level IMO.
