Very big chance that Romero features.

I have a feeling this game will take place in Manchester.

Maybe as Ashley is rarely getting picked now. If he works it could save us a lot of money on a backup RB and TFM could be Tony V's replacement eventually. That money could be spent elsewhere.
He's rarely getting picked mostly because of transfer/loan speculation. Otherwise, he would definitely start today.

    I am going for ...

    ------------Romero---------------
    TFM---Bailly-----Smalling---Shaw
    Fellaini---Carrick-- schweinsteiger
    Mata--------Rooney-------Martial

On suspicion that Mourinho might rest at least 6-7 of his regular Premier League starters
    (Pogba-Ibra-Herrera-Rashford-Valencia-Mikhitaryan and Jones)
and always unsure over Jesse Lingard and Carrick, you never know if they are playing or not. Hull might do close down quickly and carrick might not be so useful in that match. That is why i suspect he is going to start this match and sit out the next.

He's played 90 minutes since Dec 12th. Although it was indeed against Reading, I don't think anyone can be certain that he would play if it wasn't for the speculation.

    9 changes sounds about right.

    GK, RB, CB,LB,CM,CM,LW,RW,ST

Imagine how disappointed we'll all be when Shaw and Martial both fail to make an impact.

Squadwise we have the depth to play a very good and experienced team without making the same mistake that Liverpool made. Martial should be out to show Mou he can devastate a team at this level, which is also what Mou wants him to prove. Motivation may be as important as the actual team we put out.

Yeah, a home game against a stronger Championship side in the FA Cup, plus he's a restless player now. The only thing is that, if Shaw is playing, we would have two attacking full-backs at the same time.

    Tough one today

    I've gone for

    Romero
    TFM
    Blind
    Jones
    Shaw

    Basti
    Pogba

    Mata
    Miki
    Martial

    Rooney

You know everyone has changed it to that now, don't you?

    I went for

    Romero
    Mensah Bailly Smalling Shaw
    Fellaini Pogba
    Mata Rooney Martial
    Rashford

Seriously, though, how they feck have you got so many points?

Off-topic: Hull played quite a strong side today, only to be defeated by Fulham; could be useful for our next game.

I did the same as this apart from Rojo instead of Smalling. Had Valencia at RB originally but rumours are messing with me.

Mensah should be played at CB or DM

I think Mourinho likes him as a right back but I think we should play him at DM too. We have enough competition to a better standard than him at CB for him to get minutes even if he plays well there so I'd rather him be in a position he could take minutes. We need a better rotation option for Carrick than Fellaini, obviously TFM is a completely different player to Carrick but he could do a Kante like job with his pace aggression and reading of the game and then just pass it on to pogba or Herrera to run the game.

I really hope TFM starts but am I the only going that he is not considered as a long term option at RB. I'd rather have him play centrally than Fellaini
Agreed. Don't want to see him groomed for RB.

I've predicted a 1-0 loss, we're not playing well of late and I rate Joyce, I think they will frustrate us massively.
Ok now...I'm the biggest pessimist when it comes to predicting a United result but we'll win today.

    Early team news
This is unconfirmed, but this is the United team that is doing the rounds before kick-off:
    Romero
    Fosu-Mensah
    Smalling
    Rojo
    Shaw
    Schweinsteiger
    Fellaini
    Rooney
    Mata
    Mkhitaryan
    Martial

Just to reiterate, the team will be confirmed an hour before kick-off, as usual, but that could be close to, if not the exact United side that starts today’s game.
It would mark Fosu-Mensah’s first start since September and Schweinsteiger would be lining up since that demoralising day against Sheffield United. The records showed United won but the feeling that day was victory felt like a defeat.

Yeah well it don't automatically mean a starting place today. A restless player? Young is solid defensively, solid enough for such a match.

That center-back pairing would surprise me. Mourinho paying Smalling's horrible last performance with a start? It's not that he doesn't have alternatives.

In today's game, I think it would. Anyhow, restless was referring to the transfer market.

Our next game is in 2 days, so presumably Jones plays there. Who Smalling played better than last game, may I add.

What about Bailly, Blind (or even Tuanzebe)? Rojo, on the contrary, seems natural to start. Smalling starting is like Lingard being our right-winger today.

I just want to see us score a few goals. Getting fed up of seeing us struggling to put the ball in the back of the net.

I don't know about Shaw but Martial will make an impact, he pretty much always does no matter how much people want try and exaggerate about him being poor.
