Basti showing his class. Awful first 15-25 mins but been ok to solid so far.

Watch his movement on the ball. It's always a turn to move the ball forward. If the space is there, he will carry the ball forward 5-15 yards, which is something Carrick lacks.

No clue why Jose does that.. Running in? What is he going to do with the extra 30 seconds?

Surprised to see Basti growing in the game....maybe he just needs a run out to get sharper?

For all you guys moaning about BFS I think he's quite composed. I'd have liked to see him in the Carrick position with Pogba and Herrera giving him more support and time on the ball. That option would be a real bonus to have when rotating the squad.

that's the sort of goal he used to score against us when he was at everton
Exactly what I said when he scored.

We really are not playing like a team, we lack cohesion. Wigan only interested in defending, we really need to use the width of the pitch.

Only players I'd say have actually played poorly is Rooney, everyone else has been fine, not sure I like TFM at RB though. We still need to work on our finishing.

We grew into the game a bit, Schweinsteiger had a shit start but he's improved later on.

Still need a better performance. Get a second and seal the win.

About par for a makeshift squad.

Schweinsteiger really is a viable option in midfield for us. He hasnt played all but 16 minutes prior to this match. Yet he is capable of playing some excellent passes and decisive crosses.

Glad we broke down wigan and scored the important goal before the half. Thought the Mkhitaryan miss would have doomed us for this half.

Hopefully we keep playing at a higher pace and blow them away in the second half.

Some very encouraging performances so far and the players are growing into the match.

That was horrible football and it took someone lumping in to the box for a 6'5 player to head in. Ugly stuff that Klopp would be proud of, but feck it at least we've scored.

Mourinho won't be happy with a few players that's for sure. He has given them their chance and some of them have done feck all. Happy for Fellaini and Schweinsteiger is playing well.

Goal aside, that was terrible! I'm getting sick of the excuse that Jose does not know his best team, how long does he need?

Massive goal that, go in 0-0 and we probably don't see Martial, Shaw and Basti in the second half

Too many players with zero confidence

The thing is, without Ibrahimović we have no link up game in the area whatsoever.
You must be mistaken. Ibrahimovic only scores goals but he misses a lot of sitters, is slower than a snail and adds nothing to our play.

Such a good feeling when two people that people were complaining about being in the lineup link up for a goal.

Wigan pressed our immobile center pretty well but don't have enough punch. We've had one or two decent moments and managed to grab a goal, pretty drab stuff overall.
