Jesus, Jose the first manager to spend a billion.
Pep right behind him, with 5,6 whatever years less.

    Jose wrist tattoo?!!!

    Mourinho with the ink?!

    What is Jose's tattoo?

    didn't know Mourinho had tattoos

    What's Jose's wrist tattoo of?
Family, names of his kids and wife, I think, read about it wihle ago, too lazy to find it

To think people were actually disappointed that we signed Matić.

Cheers. Yeah, Pep's getting there pretty quickly.

Mata and Mkhitaryan want to play in the same areas of the pitch. Mourinho needs to define their roles if he wants to get the best out of them.

Sorry, but we haven't looked good. What is our style of play? Keep the ball, keep the ball, keep the ball, lose the ball, rinse, repeat.

No run-ins, no interchanging, no wing play, no clever through-balls, keeping it narrow and hoping to get one goal.

We have fared better. But, we certainly don't look good.

Not helped by Hammers sitting deep but I agree with this. Nothing to be excited about. We aren't trying to pass and move and be clever.

I'm scared the second half is going to come crashing down on us. We struggle to play consistently good for 90 mins.

Not surprised really , Its the first time in years we played a proper midfield. When Fellaini plays the whole team turns to shit
Herrera's not playing in a midfield two nobody thinks could work with Pogba.

If mkhi could up his execution so we get those chances in the right spot at the right time we will look very good. Also Rashford looks fantastic.

Really liked this half. More of the same in the last 45. We need to score more as I'm convinced West Ham will net as well.

Yeah you just know chicha is going to get a chance. I do think we will score again though too.

Hopefully Mourinho let the boys come out firing even more in the second half to kill the game off. Let's not make the same mistakes as last season.

Don't want to get sucker punched again.

    Bailly is so arrogantly good.
Mata is so much in the mood today.
Rashford will be a star. No doubt.
    Romelu Beastkaku!

Now let's see if we can kill off this game. The way we play the second half will tell us a lot about this season.

Really pleased with that first half, particularly from an attacking perspective. Matic, Pogba, Mata, Miki and Lukaku all looked good in possession, with some excellent link up play between them at various stages of the half. Rashford grew in confidence as the half wore on, lovely assist as well. It would be great if we can push on from this, don't wanna see us sitting pretty on a precarious 1 goal lead like last season. Let's go out and score a few more, the lads are more than capable of achieving that,

The movement, link up play, balance and desire shown in that first half fills me with confidence for the season. Honestly feel we can win the league with this team. Haven't been this confident in our chances for about 6 years.

Who needs wingers when we are playing so beautifully through the middle?
We've been a bit congested in there, and we've lost possession, and dropped chances there as a result. Attacking play needs to be varied. A good winger with pace and guile and good crossing would be a great addition.

Cant complain with the score but we seriously must sign a winger.

I think Mata has been very good. Certainly wouldn't want to bring him off, and not for Herrera either.
Really? Has gone pretty much unnoticed for me apart from that one glorious link-up with Pogba. Maybe I'm just too busy drooling over Matic and Pogba to pay attention to anyone else

Now that I think about it, Mkhitaryan really HAS been quiet. Maybe take him off for Martial, and switch Rashford to the right?

I would move Mkhitaryan to the left (or to the right) and give him 20' to improve. He suffers in the Premier League without space to roam.

    :lol::lol:

I just did the journey looking back through this stream of comments and he did indeed reply to himself. I laughed out loud.

If you think no-one's going to agree with you, at least agree with yourself.

@Gandalf Greyhame you accused me of not paying attention but someone else just confirmed you were indeed replying to yourself in agreement.

Unless I am mistaken you replied to your own post and agreed with yourself.

Or do I miss something here?

I was referring to a point I made earlier. Reiterating it. And I was responding to a posted who disagreed. I can see what you meant, now.

Great half. Glad Lukaku got his goal, that's something out of the way. Very impressed with Matic and Pogba, and Rashford had his silky moments, too. Our defence doing well, as usual, and Phil Jones is leading the way.

Valencia needs to be quicker with his passing, though, and Mkhitaryan needs to up his game, too. Both him and Mata are capable of more.

Hope we don't step off in the second half, and decided to go for it again, instead.

That'll do. We've been pretty good, particularly in our intensity and tempo. I've liked Mata, Blind and of course the new darling of the caf Matic. It's still amazing to see what he does with the ball at his feet considering the talk of him being a no-nonsense destroyer type.

Pogba has been typical by his standards; some great touches but also some frustrating choices, if he could just take the simple decision more often we'd really be in business.

Rashford's not been great although he did well for our goal. I think Mkhi needs to get closer to Lukaku, if he could time his bursts into the box a little better he'd have had a couple of goals today. On the plus side at least he's been positive in taking shots on, something that all our players needed to improve on from last season.

The guy is fantastic. He looks like he has been playing with us for about 10 years or so.

This isn't a player who didn't have a preseason at all. Top, top player.

The guy is absolutely brilliant. You can see how being a playmaker before reflects on how he handles the ball well as a DM.

That was one of the most enjoyable 45 minutes of football I've seen from United since Fergie left.
