From a team that went to lose after a 3-1 lead, to a team that defended 1 goal lead with 10 men for good 25 mins. I think lads did well.

I hope most of the Caf will see it this way, 3 points was exactly what we needed.

I am sorry, but this is just bitter. Yes, we would much rather win 10000 - 0, but after last week, injuries and being down to 10 men, this is a good solid win.

I think you misread my post. Im delighted with the win and its a major confidence builder after being torn to shreds last week by Leicester.

If we can keep 11 men on the pitch and perform to the level we've shown against Leicester and west ham (first half) then we should have no issues going on a good run of games.

Played poorly and won... that's more like it. Hopefully the experience of coming through 35 minutes with their backs to the wall, will galvanise this lot and lead to better defensive performances ahead.

That results moves United up into 7th, two points behind Arsenal (4th), Swansea (5th) and Aston Villa (6th).

They're one point better off than at this stage last season, albeit after an easier set of fixtures.
Hoping Rooney's suspension would not cost us against Everton or Chelsea, if we have a chance in the first place.

Holding on for our lifes for half an hour in our home with 10 men and a rookie centre half is certainly versus fecking West Ham is better than what we have done since SAF left.

Yea well good luck holding on against Chelsea, City, Arsenal, Souton, Everton, Tottenham etc...

If United can't regain control over a match anymore after they concede a goal than we can better give up on top 4 already. Horrible performance from the team, gave in again when put under pressure, lucky enough this time we managed to hold onto the points.

How anybody can be proud of this win is beyond me. Holding on for our lifes for an entire second half in our home versus fecking West Ham. Fortunatley enough lucky to get the 3 points because WHU had the equaliser in their hand many times. Never been more relived to see an offside flag. I'am happy with the 3 points but proud of this lot, hell no !

We really aren't any better than relegation fodder.

How on earth are we going to hold on until the winter playing like this ? Team like Chelsea and City will just rip us apart.

I'm a cynical tw@ as well but we were down to ten men, any team playing ten men the whole season would be relegation fodder, especially in a competitive league such as ours.

I'm a little embarrased of how bad we looked in the second half, red card or not. Looks like a group completely shot of any confidence what so ever.

I thought United did control the game till Rooney got sent off. Trying to control the game and score, when you are leading and down to 10 men, with a very shaky defence would be idiotic.

It is not just when Rooney got send off, obviously given our current situation we decided to close down the game and luckily enough we succeeded in that, but as soon as WHU got that 2-1 we started playing like scarred little pussies. We should have just scored a third and a fouth and put in a inspiring performance, but I guess we'll have to do with clining on for our lifes at the first sign of trouble for now !

Played decent before Rooney got sent off in the 60th minute, then held on for dear life.

We looked reasonably good in the second half till the sending off.

Such a nervy defence hoofing the ball at almost every opportunity. Pleased with the graft, but should never had looked so desperate, luckily West Ham were impotent for the most part.

Pleased for 3 pts, currently 7th spot where we belong!!! Take that Pool, Everton and Leicester

West Ham were not impotent IMO. They did play well, and scored a marginally offside goal.

I expected him to be shaky after last week's penalty incident, but he was wonderful.

Real impressed with all of our defenders today.
I don't know why Rafael is being criticized for the referee decision last week. I don't think he was at fault whatsoever for the pen.

We were down 10 men and kept a clean sheet. FFS.

Have some of you ever played football?

It was a real lucky break today! Nolan would surely have scored had he not been in offside position. He didn't need to stand there, a professional like him should have been more careful.

My disappointment is that experienced players like Valencia, Fletcher and Blind were whacking the ball out when there wasn't any pressure on them whatsoever. Why not just keep the ball and pass the time? I just don't know why our players are so hasty and panicky, why can't they remain calm and keep the ball?

Based on the first half, Rooney is going to be a big miss for the next 3 games especially chelscum. The Ref could have given a yellow and a stern warning -a captain's mercy atleast. Persie was huge in the first 60 mins hope he plays in a similar way. He doesn't have the legs to play like that for the entire 90 though. Let's see what mata can do ? Is there any chance rooney is suspended for only one or two matches ?

I've seen many teams play much better, against better teams than West Ham... to be sure.

However still think that's a great win for us... and a great way to do it. That will surely be galvanising for us... Rooney missing games will hurt but it's a convenient excuse to try some different attacking lineouts.

    Delighted all in all.

Because West Ham were pressing for all they're worth and not giving our players much space to pass the ball leisurely?

When was the last time we were above the dippers in the league? It must be the longest period in our Premier League history.

On the back of the last game, Blind was panicky I suppose. The other two are just crap football players. Di maria was cool in those situations

That's exactly what we stopped doing today, playing football... Even with ten men we should be able to string two passes together against West Ham at home. That's just not good enough...

We needed help from the ref, to get a disallowed (off-side) goal.
Personally, I think it was a goal and we barely hung on.

The goal was off-side clearly. However, had Nolan been a little more alert, he could have scored without being offside.

...Why not just keep the ball and pass the time? I just don't know why our players are so hasty and panicky, why can't they remain calm and keep the ball?

    My thoughts exactly.
There was no need to panic.
We were 1 man down and we could've tried to keep possession.
I think it was panic which caused this - if in doubt, launch it.
If they were calm, I'm sure they'd prefer to keep possession, rather than launching the ball.
    3 points though, can't complain.

We went from Rooney, Falcao, di María, van Persie and Herrera to van Persie, di María, Fletcher and Valencia. No wonder we lost the confidence going forward. But it happens. The best thing is that our defense managed to shut out West Ham's wave after wave of attacks. I think we should focus on that, rather than our lack of offensive play after the red card.

I don't get it yer we were down to 10 men but we just folded after losing roone, you cant afford to do that at home against... west ham..

Remember city dominating arsenal with 10 men just a few weeks ago??

And honestly you could see the signs of no confidence in our side soon as their scored their goal not just after going down to 10.

Good defensive performance but like its been said we were playing west ham for gods sake any of the decent attacking teams would have put 2 or 3 past us at that stage.
