We are on the bring of another United record here lads. Having smashed the minutes without a goal record in midweek we are now 45 minutes away of the 0-0 draws at home in the league record. LVG is a genius.

I'm sure LVG will be pleased that we had lots of possession

What bothers me is that we don't take risks. We don't see Schweini or Mata or Rooney trying to dribble past players and spot the runs of of Lingard or Martial. It would be nice if we could beat the man and get through. Also, movement in the final third is quite disappointing.

Rooney is doing well, so far, barring that skier.

Am I the ony one who thinks Schweinsteiger has been a bit underwhelming

No I agree with you. He's not had the best of halves. He didn't anticipate the ball coming through to him for a great chance and his passing has been hit and miss (when he goes long)

West Brom arent even trying to get/keep the ball.

The possession stat or us being camped in their half means nothing. WBA dont care.
    We cant break them down.

Top players are supposed to create chances to break down tough defences. Any team can score against a side not capable of defending .

WBA sitting back is not an excuse. It is up to us to break them down... and we aren't doing a great job at that..

That said, 45 minutes still to go. Hope we can do something

That comes down to the manager wanting his players to keep it safe rather than risk losing the ball. BFS made a great run down the right inside channel unopposed and what happened? The ball was past square to the left by Carrick. This is no risk football and its part of the reason we create so few chances.

Hardly a surprise, is it? We've shown time and time again this season that we're helpless against teams that sit back and stay compact. They're playing to our weakness, and anything else would be ridiculous.

So in a way you can actually say that, yes, it is our fault they want to park the bus. If we hadn't shown a hundred times under LVG that we're diabolical at breaking down buses, it would have forced them to reconsider their game plan.

I don't see why people don't get this. Why should the likes of WB come here to play an open game when it's proven multiple times that LVGs team don't have any idea how to combat that tactic. It's an easy point to get at OT for an away team as long as they keep their shape and discipline.

    Over to you LVG

Teams like WBA have been parking the bus at OT for years, it's nothing new. I'd say the lesser clubs, like WBA (maybe not today), are generally coming nowadays and having a go at us and despite that we are hardly free scoring.

Our problems are way, way deeper than where the opposition plonk their bus.

Schneiderlin just started training yesterday, he's not ready. Herrera hasn't been at his best recently and Carrick looked very good v CSKA.
yet here we are and it is 0-0.

We have been attacking but im tired of every team looking like WC defensive sides when coming OT.

    Here's a question:
Using the logic that the ball is mostly in the final 3rd, against these 'Park The Bus' teams, would it not be wise to take off a defender and add an attacker?

Still too slow and safe from us. We're not committing any players forward, there's no one to pass to when we're around the box except out wide or backwards. What's the point of two midfielders hanging back against a side like this? One of Carrick or Schweinsteiger should come off for Herrera.

See, this isn't true. Schweinsteiger in particular has played much of the game on the 18 yard box. He's moved forward plenty. Carrick then mops up behind him.

It's an easy criticism to make given the age of our midfield but I'm not sure they're doing anything wrong.

We've been all right just need to play that final ball a bit quicker. Take a chance from outside the box.

it's not as simple as that, we are then easier to hit on the counter.

We are desperatly lacking quality up top.

It's almost impossible to break down a team that park the bus... the game changes on details. If Mata scores, or Lindgard, or Rooney when Martial has his shot, everything changes again.

Not a defender an holding midfielder yes

We have been attacking but im tired of every team looking like WC defensive sides when coming OT.

I do find it strange that teams near the bottom of league, come to OT and appear to have the best defensive unit in the World.
Then when that same team plays a lesser team, they concede with ease.
Either we are very easy to defend against OR most teams get extremely lucky against us and have their best defensive display of their season.

Thank you for saving me having to make this very point.

    Very true.

It was definitely less poor than the recent crap in the league, difficult against an almost constant 11 man defence though.
I thought we were unlucky not to get a couple of goals. Much better if you ask me, we seemed to be probing more with forward balls and a lot faster in getting this balls forward.

People here are apparently finding it hard to watch the game from an objective stand-point, and just see what they want to see. We control the match and look threatening. Have created chances, but the coin hasn't fallen the right way yet. If we keep going like this we will score. I honestly don't know what people are expecting... That we would score every other minute against a team that plays with 10 players in their final third?

I can guarantee that Barcalona or Bayern would be doing the exact same thing against this West Brom team. Can people pls just stop with all the god damn moaning against possession football, it's the best way to play in modern football! All we lack is that star quality that Mata and lingard can't offer, until we replace those two with top class attackers of course we want score.

We've looked dangerous when we've got it wide and created 2 v 1s, however, that has only happened a few times. We need to keep the width on both sides to stretch West Brom. Mata is making it too narrow. I'd probably bring on Depay.

I really like Mata but he is too one dimensional. The fullback knows he will never get beat on the outside and that Mata will always cut in on his left. Its just easy to defend. The only thing Mata can do is hit a cross into the box but at that point there are at least 5 opposing players waiting to head it back out.

We are screaming out for pace and trickery on the flanks. Its what will get us the goals. Players who can beat the first man and cause the opposition defence to turn.

He's like the complement for Valenica, isn't he? Can we merge them and get a complete player?
Yes, we need players who can beat their man. January window will be a relief.

No. That was our first shot on target. We actually had 7 shots on goal in that half which is pretty decent. Only getting 1 of them on target, not so much.

Ah, seems you weren't watching after all

Eh, we had a few shots before that, unless you're specifically on about ones on target but that's not what was said.

Jesus.. I did mean shots on goal (or target)...

We have nearly 80% possession. A minor detail is 0 shots on goal.

This is the stats if anyone cares so much.

Only thing more boring than our matches at the moment are the people using the "they're parking the bus so that's why we're not scoring" line.

The only thing more boring than that is mindless moaning.

Would be funny if we just started letting west brom have the ball. They'd have no idea what to do with it.

Pulis is such a dire manager, feel bad for west brom fans. Who cares if you stay in the prem playing this crap, I'd rather have fun in the championship.

Not sure its luck, but yea we should have scored at least one (Mata)
