Why is Lukaku undroppable? I'd add Martial there and move Rashford to the middle. All front three interchanging positions.

Pile of shit,as expected. 5-10 reasonably lively minutes followed by absolute League 1 standard movement and control.

Lukaku is playing like a League 1 CF,his control has been worse than usual. Quite embarrassing,I like the guy but maybe he's not a fit for a team with supposedly lofty ambitions.

Team.has been shite in general. Expecting same again, 0-0 or Valencia win.

Not too sure what we have out there constitutes as a ‘midfield’. Matic has been shite for ages now but seems to get a free pass.
He’s tired, mate. Give him a break.

This TNT punditry is shite. Steve Nash (basketball player) is a pundit.

Not going through the hassle and cost of going there is the biggest positive these days.

I was actually offered a free ticket tonight but still pied it. CBA with a predictably shite performance then not getting home til 11 with an early start at work tomorrow.

Another half that is just as bad as anything served up under Van Gaal.

Only 52% possession, mind you. One shot.

Looking at the CSKA v Real game, looks as if it’s on fast forward.

    Been watching United too long.

    I don't like this midfield.

It's far too ponderous and slow.

We need some more dynamism in there.

It's either Fellaini or Matic. Not both at the same time. It's overkill.

Bit frustrating to see the difference in patience that Mourinho has with Lukaku compared to Rashford, Martial and to a certain degree Sanchez.

Absolutely nothing seems to working out for him, his movement has generally been dire and his first touch has been shocking at best. I get that we depend heavily on him and that we've built our team around him, but what about taking him off at 70mins at times, give him a bit of a boot up his arse instead of constantly playing him

They’ve created nothing either. Valencia have looked until they get near our box and then fall apart. We just haven’t looked good anywhere. That doesn’t translate as Valencia being in control.

It does when we are the home team, and are expected to win. They are in control to get what they want, a draw at OT is a good result for them, so yeah, they are in control.

I've no idea how there can be anyone left at this point who is happy for us to continue with Jose. It's the same boring shite every week. Even if we manage to snatch a win tonight it changes nothing. We're a terrible team with no direction. Significant changes are needed at this club badly.

But he does work hard and puts some pressure on the opponent. He can sometimes switch with Lukaku during the match too, he's lethal through the middle. Ofcourse it's not ideal but it's either him or Mata/Rashford. And I don't think Rashford does much more than Alexis.

I feel like he’s playing like a right wing back today. He reminded me of Kuyt on the right. I thought he was a 20+ goal attacker?

    Standard United performance:
    - We approach the game like it's walking football, which gives the opposition egence time to recover on transitions
    - we only commit players forward late in the attack. Ineffectual and leaves us vulnerable to the counter
    - we make the other side look like a million dollars when we defend
    - lack of movement from attack makes it hard for our deeper players to play nice balls. Conversely, our attackers make a nice run, but our deeper player our pondering with side passes

Lots of negatives from an individual perspective:
    - Valencia simply cannot function as a modern fullback. His attacking threat is virtually nil
    - Lukakku cannot function as a target man. Yet we keep hoofing it too him for the ball to be lost
    - Fellani is wasted as a def mid today. Not much of an aerial threat coming in from Valencia and he is getting bypassed with movement. Meanwhile we know his limitations from a passing perspective when we are in attack
    - Matic seems to be pedestrian and doing little closing down

    On.the positives:
    - Rashford is bright on the left during rare attacks
    - Sanchez is putting the effort in and offering something better on the right
    - Bailley has tried a few risky passes. They haven't come off but at least he is trying to inject some creativity

Get Fred on for Fellani and Martial on for Lukkaku. More importantly, starting moving the ball with pace, we've seem the best of this lost and it's fairly average

Fellaini is alright, it's Matic who has become a clown. Backheeling inside the box ffs
I keep saying this, but Matic isn’t a holding midfielder. He’s at his best harrassing the opposition and is underrated with the ball on the move. We don’t have a decent holding midfielder in the squad for 4-1-4-1 or 4-3-3 formations.

We would be better with Pogba there as a deep lying playmaker, as he has to keep coming into that zone to receive the ball anyway.

Made an ok start, but then fell back into our usual lethargy - no movement, no intensity, unable to keep the ball in midfield, CBs not building up from the back etc etc same stuff we see every week.

Valencia really have a lot more quality on the ball than us, especially in midfield.

I’m angry at Jose Mourinho, Ed Woodward and Ronald Koeman for making me have to live through Romelu Lukaku as Manchester United’s main centre forward. Horrible, horrible football player. And the annoying thing is he isn’t amongst those who turned into a terrible footballer when he joined us. He already was one in the first place.

It seems Everton was about his level. Jose tries to use him like he did Drogba, and while they are similar in some respects Drogba had world class technique while Lukaku seems like he has wooden boots at all times

Fellaini is alright?????? How many passes does he receive in the opposition's side? How many times does he run 2 metres with the ball at his feet. All he does is get the ball and give it like a donkey to his nearest teammate. He's a freeking tree.
He's alright yeah. The least of our problems by far

Team coach was late because they had to spend 15 mins introducing the team to each other. It is uncanny how often this team looks like a group who have never played together before.

Just a failure of coaching, they are so much less than the sum of their parts.

It's more enjoyable laughing in the face of this rubbish football and that fraud of a manger that thinks he's a deep-like-an-unnavigable-ocean *********** but actually behaves like a petulant teenaged prat.

I hope we lose 2 nil to comedy goals and the prat cries post match begging on his hands and knees for respect.

To me if he does not expect them to have the ball and more often than not just wants them to wait for the other team to make a mistake, they are just strolling about until something happens. You don't need to be fit to do that.

Though it's more difficult to exploit a mistake if you're not "forcing" them to make one in a vulnerable positon, which usually requires pressing, which in turn requires fitness. Tbh I have no idea what's going on at times.

What were people expecting here? We can't just turn on a switch and start playing silky football and creating loads of chances. Whats even the point of saying same old shit when we played similar way 3 days back. Wake up, we arnt gonna creating cutting edge chances suddenly. That can only happen when the style of play changes.

Indeed. These people might as well take up tiddlywinks.
