    If Fred is retained with McTominay available then that would be a surprise. Team news leaks do sometimes feature deliberate errors but the inclusion of Fred prior to the confirmed XI against Newcastle was a surprise yet there he was in the starting line-up.

    No surprise, as I said. People need to use common sense a bit.

    Mctominay is Casemiros backup. Fred is eriksens. You can't just pick one up and put them in place of the other. Ten Hag needs players that suit the roles best, not necessarily always the best performing players if it means shoehorning them out of position. You compete with your competition, not all 11 players.
     
    Fred shouldn't be anywhere near the team after Sunday. Positive if Ronaldo is dropped.

    Can't say I've got too much confidence for this one, but hopefully I'm surprsied.

    Rashford is an extremely limited player and I'd still take Ronaldo over him. Ronaldo would have put that cross away in the dying minutes against Newcastle, Rashford didn't even hit the target.

    Who’s still doing all the leaks about the line ups? Find it a bit weird if it’s true about Ronaldo not starting against a back 5, rashford will struggle upfront against that. We need someone who can get on the end of crosses.

    Fred always post a picture of his shirt in the dressing room on Instagram, which usually means he is starting.

    I'd play Maguire over Ronaldo. Because Eriksen is not fit and we'd need McT there.
     
    Yess good lineup just what I hoped for. Hopefully Eriksen can come in and play at least 30 minutes. Was hoping for martial on the bench at least

    Don’t love that lineup but not really sure he could’ve started with a better one. We really are missing Eriksen and I never like it when Rashford’s playing up top. Lets hope we still smash them !

    Mctominay is the physical ball winner, he and Casemiro are direct competition for each other. Ten Hag needs someone better on the ball and more nimble, better going forward next to him. Eriksen the starter, and Fred is his clear backup. Can't just put on in the others role.
     
    Take Kane and son out of that team and it is such a bang average team. Mid table quality.
