Obviously not got great confidence about the game given how things are, but I think it’s vital Dembele gets booked early on - the amount of fouls he gets away with throughout games given his apparent invisibility to referees will likely be a big factor against us, so the longer he has to watch himself the better for us.
For that to happen we need to control the midfield better and inparticular Pogba needs to make those runs from deep. Last time out we played with a midfield 2 of Matic and Pogba and got completely overwhelmed. He wasnt able to do this. This time I guess Herrera will be there to help in midfield. If we can get runners in behind the Spurs defence I'm sure we'll have a lot of success.

Hard to say really, i always think its odd in general how much home and away affects performance even at the elite level but it does.

One of their players said it would give them a boost so hard to argue really

Oh playing at home does have an advantage that's for sure. I'm not disputing that. But they've been playing there for a couple of months. I mean, it's hardly a fortress it is. It's not comparable to a "proper" established home stadium that has years and years of experience and history. They've been there for 8 months.

I just can't see it as an issue at all personally.

How many fans will we have there? Bit worried about Spurs' home advantage.

As someone pointed out on the Matchday Thread on Wednesday....

Despite the media love-in with Spurs' attacking football
Despite the media love-in with Harry Kane
Despite the media love-in with Pochettino
Despite the media love-in with Deli Ali

And despite the media slagging us off as 'boring' and 'too pregmatic'

Spurs have scored just one more goal than us, conceded 6 more goals than us, won three matches fewer than us, and are six points behind us with four games to play.

If it wasn't at Wembley, I would be reasonably confident of a result....But it really will be like having to get an away win against a Top 4 side and which don't happen too frequently for any team.

So fingers crossed that 40,000 United fans will make it feel a bit less like an away match.

    I will go with this:

    De Gea
    Valencia - Bailly - Smalling - Young
    Matic - Herrera - Pogba
    Rashford - Lukaku - Martial

Jose will probably go something like this:

    De Gea
    Valencia - Bailly - Smalling - Young
    Pogba - Herrera - Matic
    Fellaini - Lukaku - Sanchez

And bring fresh legs of Martial/Rashford/Lingard later in the game.

Does that mean 50% are sold to each of the clubs, with no allocation for "neutrals"?

50% of club tickets are sold to each club. There are probably around 30% of all tickets in wembley which will be used for club webley members, sponsors etc etc

We need to show courage on the ball in this game. When they press, which they will for sure, we need to play through it. We have international footballers and they should be more than capable to do it. We played great brand of football in second half vs City and we need to do the same against Spurs.

If Sanchez isn't going to play on the RW then he should be on the bench, Pogba and Martial are much more in sync on that left side, but I'm sure it will be the below team with the off chance Mourinho will shoehorn his beloved Fellaini in instead of Herrera.

Only thing which makes me positive is our's(Post Fergie 5 played 5 wine) and Jose's amazing record at Wembley.

Relying on Valencia and Young for the width. That you.

Mourinho will have learnt his lesson about playing Lingard in that hole between dier and dembele. He has no luck there. He will need to go with mata to link up play. Rashford /Martial to run at them and Sanchez in there somewhere because why not - he can be a world beater

Pretty confident about this one. We need to target their full backs because there lies their weakness. Also, Herrera needs to do a job on Eriksen and make him useless. These are the key matters that we need to pay attention to.

Looking forward to a 2-0 comfortable but well fought win and another masterclass from the special one similar to what we did to Liverpool a little while back.

Who picks up Dier and Dembele then?

Watched a replay of us beating spurs in 09. Down 0 - 2 at half time, followed by the come back of comebacks. Finished the game 5 - 2. Hope to see that kind of moxie from the guys tomorrow.

These days if we came back from 2-0 to win 5-2 people would complain about going 2-0 down.

We can't man mark everyone, choose. :D
Well, not man-mark. But each of Spurs' players should have a direct opponent, I feel. That was as much the problem in our last game against them, I think.

Herrera on Eriksen for obvious reasons.
Matic on Dembele for physicality battle.
Pogba on Alli if Paul decides to have a strong performance and not being absent defensively.

Dier isn't very creative with the ball any to worry about. He's mostly building the attack from the back.

If you play Pogba against Alli, Pogba will be the DM. I'd say switch Matic and Pogba as Pogba is good physically and can battle with Dembele quite well. Then have Herrera on Eriksen, which means switching Pogba and Herrera in our 4-3-3 as Eriksen comes in off our left and so Herrera will be LCM and Pogba RCM.

I don't think it's important whether or not Dier is creative but more that if he has space on the ball, all the others in front of him will start moving and that's trouble for us. Dybala didn't offer much in a defensive sense against Spurs but he did press when Spurs had the ball deep and also his threat in behind kept Dier more honest. We won't have an AM if we play 4-3-3 so we won't even get these benefits.
