I reckon the team will be this.

Why the heck would you pick Lindelöf for a game like this when we have other options?

I don't think he watches our games, so has now idea that Lindelof has the playing ability of a 17 year old.

    De Gea
    Bailly Smalling Jones
    Valencia Herrera Matic Young
    Mkhi Lukaku Rashford
Expecting this line up if Bailly is fit. Let's not play that defensive 442 that we used against Liverpool. We could play our normal 4231 also but Young will get exposed. So I think it's better if we set up the same way as Spurs.

    de Gea
    Bailly Smalling Jones
    Valencia Pogba Matic Young
    Mkhitaryan
    Lukaku Rashford

    Bench:
Romero, Lindelof, Darmian, Herrera, McTominay, Lingard, Martial

Predicted Score: Utd 1-1 Spurs (Lukaku, Kane)

It'll be another defensive bore fest and we'll pick up a point if we're lucky.

I know we don't have many options at the moment, but if we start with Mata, Mkhi and Lindelof, it's going to be a long afternoon.

The thought of being 3 behind Spurs and 8 behind City does not bear thinking about. I'd take a Liverpool/Huddersfield performance and a winning deflected goal off Lingard's ass on Saturday.

Me too, but I suspect Mata and Mkhi will be swapped.

What's the logic behind Mata and Mkhitaryan's change of positions?
I expect them to be the other way around. Mkhi starting on the right and Mata down the middle is just my preference for this game. Mkhi was great last season against Spurs on the right, he was making runs in behind all game and that's where his goal came from. We'll most likely set up to counter attack on Saturday and I think we need some pace on the wings.

    De Gea
    Valencia Lindelof Jones Darmian
    Herrera Matic
    Lingard Mata Rashford
    Lukaku

This would be my lineup but I bet he’ll play Smalling and Young. And probably Martial.
You would play Lindeløf? Even if you don't have to? I'm all for giving him time but he shouldn't be anywhere near the team in important league and CL games as of now.

There is nothing better than a tough league match at home. Buzzing already. Should be a cracking atmosphere, with Spurs trying plenty of bullying tactics when frustration sets in once they fall behind. Red card for Alli. Narrow home win.

Mkhitaryan and Mata both should prove themselves they've been shit lately specially Mkhitaryan.

He needs confidence so why not put some faith in him. His ceiling is much higher than Smalling and Jones.

    Looking forward to this.
On the back of last night I'd go with a 3-4-3 formation. I'd also go with Tuanzebe ahead of both Smalling and Lindelof.

What makes you think his ceiling is higher than Jones'?
He played well for 90 minutes against Swansea I am assuming.

This need to elevate the abilities of youth players baffles me. In a few weeks when he does play and has a bad game, the narrative will change.

Of course man. Thats the cafe's motto. Hype up the player beyond measure after one good game and treat him like a school boy player after one bad game. Dont you know this by now?

    Lindelöf is a youth player?

Sorry, have I got it wrong. I thought he was referreing to Tunzabe? Didn't follow the full exchange, so apologies if I got it wrong on this particular post. However my point still stands. On both the match day thread, and post match, members were effusive in their praise, and saying Tunzabe should start ahead of others. Makes no sense.

Jose would have setup the team to defend regardless but after the last 2 games is gonna be unbareable to watch....defend defend defend!

But anything can happen and I’m hoping Lukaku can pull something out of the bag.

I don't mind the look of that, I think Lingard's put a marker down at Swansea and if he's dropping into pockets like he did against Chelsea last season I can see his movement being a problem for them. I'd maybe go Young over Darmian too.

The question marks over our shape and personnel are irritating, as is the feeling we'll be grinding our bollocks off rather than truly dominating them with attacking flair, but if we keep it tight I can see us nicking a win.

If only. The poor disturbed man was talking about Lindelöf. I see no reason to assume his talent ceiling is higher than Jones'.

Im a bit of a fan of Mkhi and i wish he does well. Hes a terrific get up of your seat player when on form.

But i think he needa to be dropped for this one. I know its october but these are the games worth a title

    Is Dier playing for Spurs?

Is this the first game since Dier said to Herrera to watch out or something lol?

Saturday early kick off.. Another one that has the potential to make or break the weekend.

Lukaku will again be isolated in the final third as we park our glorious bus at Old Trafford this time.

    More long ball footy anyone?
