Wow, United's summer signings really have hit the ground running. Fair play.

No risks now, please. Just let them come onto us and maybe make the odd chance on the break. It's the only chance we have.

that lifts something of someones shoulders! Rooney though, still get him off. I'm ok with us playing like this for the first 45, then turning it up in the second. But, Rooney can't play like this. I love LvG though!

Papered over the cracks big time there. Rooney shocking.

Good first half IMO. Rooney and Valencia look better than before and we're playing some decent football.
Turns out putting Blind at LCB wasn't dumb from LVG. Seems to be a brilliant move thus far.

Any rivers please for the second half guys? Pleeease. Just went to my pub that has been showing 3 o'clocks for years, paid £4 to park and.... NOTHING.

Brillant ball from Blind, Mata with a nice little touch to get it across to Memphis.

Very boring half. Very typical and rigid performance. Team as a whole sitting too deep, Rooney doing more bad then good by chasing the game and trying to force his involvement rather then just let it come to him. Mata one of the better players of the half. I thought our best opportunity (besides the goal) was that great ball by Mata when he sucked in 2 defenders and go it to Valencia, and Valencia did what he does best in taking way too much time and just hit it off a defender and onto himself for a goal kick.

Get on BFS. He will try balls like that one from Blind. That CM in just too static.

Very pleased Memphis got that goal. Hopefully he will relax more and not.

Over all a typical half from us under LvG. Loads of meaningless possession, with very few chances. Should be doing far more against such a crap side.

Well, he is a midfielder so there's nothing weird about that.

There have been loads of 'Blind is average' posts over the past few years, so him being the best at something in our team would seem weird to those people who were saying he was not a United player.

But but Mata dissappears when the team is not playing well. Luxury player.

That's why Memphis should stay on over Rooney. Rooney wouldn't have made that run or been quick enough to put it in.

Rooney would've been back in midfield. And because he knows he is undroppable, he'll keep doing that.

Blind's pass was reminiscent of Frank De Boer's pass to Bergkamp in the 1998 World Cup. Absolute quality and unselfish play from mata to square it back to Memphis. Hoping for a better 2nd half.

"Good" first half only because we scored, in actuality it was a rubbish first half with one good moment.

I think our final ball has let us down in that first-half (other than the goal) otherwise we are playing pretty well. Perfect time to score though, hope we can add a few more in the second half and bring on the Football God to run the show

I find myself being a lot more positive over Memphis than a lot of you. Him and Martial are the only players that try anything positive going forward. We used to have a lot of players that did that remember. Some people have just got too used to this zombie football imo.

You know assists aren't measured properly in football when Blind gets no official credit for that goal. Football should use the ice hockey method of the final two passes counting towards assists.

Amazing result considering we're playing with nine men today. It's amazing how shite Valencia has become, he is so far off the pace it's not even funny anymore. Rooney... don't even get me started. That's probably the sharpest decline I can remember in a while.

1-0 at the break though, can't complain too much. Blind's passing once again the difference.

slow calculated riskless play as always, got away with one sneaking that goal in last minute. Otherwise this was heading very much towards dropped points ala Newcastle.

However, Sunderland's "die for a 0-0" plan is gone, so will have to open up a bit more.

great goal, both from Blind and Mata
but an awful first half. no real chances and the few we had have been wasted. poor free kicks too
