Discussion Your Lineup Prediction

  • Need some rotation for the upcoming schedule. Martinez deserves a rest, while Zirkzee and Yoro deserve a start. I'd rather rest Mazraoui against Brighton. Amad can play wingback in both home games.

    .................. Onana

    ....... de Ligt - Maguire - Yoro

    Amad - Ugarte - Mainoo - Mazraoui

    ....... Fernandes - Garnacho
    ................. Zirkzee

    ..................Onana...........
    .....Yoro..De Ligt..Martinez.....

    Amad..................................Mazraoui
    .............Mainoo.Ugarte....................
    ........Bruno.................Garnacho.......
    ...................Zirkzee.....................

    We win 2-1

Strongest team out, and get the 3 points. Cannot afford a poor performance and dropped points after the positivity from the previous two games.

We go into this game lying in 15th place.
We have to win the next two games, but that will only get us up to 12th or 13th
3 wins in a row still won't get us out of the bottom half of the table, so tomorrows match like the next few, are all vital 3 point games.

    .

Win tomorrow will move United up to 12th in the table and 10 points clear of 18th place.

Saints have avoided defeat twice away in the league this season and while they suffered lots of defeats they haven't been hammered on the road.

    Newcastle 1-0
    Brentford 3-1
    Bournemouth 3-1
    Arsenal 3-1
    Man City 1-0
    Wolves 2-0
    Brighton 1-1
    Aston Villa 1-0
    Fulham 0-0
    Palace 2-1

We have to build some momentum we can't afford to stall our progress with a poor display or poor result, strongest 11 required from the start then early subs if going well.

Different kind of game where we will see more of the ball and our attack will be tested. Must really win this one.

    Bayindir
    Yoro De Ligt Licha
    Antony ---------------- Malacia
    Collyer Casameiro
    Bruno Amad
    Hojlund

Bit of rest for some players but we can sub in asap if it's turning to shit

Must win. We’ve now dropped down to 15th. That’s very bad considering we’re in the 2nd half of the season.

United are 15th in the table.

    20 games into the season.

These feckers better be up for the match tomorrow.

Im torn between what my head says and what my head says. Yes you read that right. Do we go with the same team, keep consistency or do we rest a few because another game on Sunday is followed by a key game in Europe. In the end I went with resting a few to keep legs fresh:

    Onana
    Yoro de ligt martinez
    Antony colleyr Mainoo Dalot
    Bruno Amad
    Zirkzee

Maguire, Maz, Uagrte and Hojlund to be rested. Mainoo only played 60 mins on Sunday, so bought him in and Amad played about 60 too.

Im going for a 3 0 loss, but only because when I predict a win we lose so hopefully ny wrongful prediction gives us all a reward. I'll take that ego hit for the team.

This the game to watch for we will see if these players are taking a turn for the better. It's expected they get up and mount a fight against the bigger clubs, now we need to see that same fight against lower league clubs.

    GK: Onana
    CBs: Martinez-de Ligt-Yoro
    Midfield: Malacia-Mainoo-Ugarte-Amad
    Number 10s: Garnacho-Bruno
    Striker: Zirkzee

This way Maguire, Mazraoui and Hojlund get some rest while Yoro gets a start and Zirkzee as well after he scored winning penalty at Arsenal. Ideally we have a good result with 30 minutes to go and few players like Martinez, Ugarte and Bruno get subbed off to save some energy for Brighton. Collyer, Casemiro, Antony and Hojlund to come on in 2nd half.

We have the unbelievable opportunity to go joint twelfth with West Ham tomorrow. Get in.
Their goal difference is toilet too. Let’s go!

In all seriousness know being 15th is embarrassing. These opportunities to take big leaps up the table and change the mood have to be taken.

Exactly this. Even though its a laughable concept to many, we are still only 7 points off the relegation spots. The last thing we should be doing is resting players in the league. We desperately need a statement win here.
Or even just any win. I think people don't realize, but the margin of error for relegation is not that large.

We're 7 points up with 18 to play. We need probably.... 4 more wins to avoid relegation? Very doable, but on the other hand if you lose 2-3 of the most winnable games things get a little dicey. This is clearly the easiest game we have in the league, it's a must win.

Might be a game to see Amad starting with Garnacho and Bruno moved back to midfield with Ugarte

    Garnacho-Zirkee-Amad
    Dalot-Bruno-Ugarte-Mazroui

    Or

    Zirkzee
    Bruno - Amad
    Garnacho-Mainoo-Ugarte-Mazroui
I prefer option 1 but Dalot maybe dropped for his poor tackle by amorim & also Garnacho had a nice little cameo at wing back in that game covering Dalot being sent off.

We need to capitalise on our recent performances and wup these. We've still been poor in front of goal, though. You can almost predict a defensive lapse in the first 15 minutes and we go 1-0 down and spend the rest of the match chasing the game and misfiring at goal.

    Let's see

    No Dalot :D

Easy win, which should permit some needed rotation due to the heavy load. A very difficult game awaits on Sunday.

I’m interested to see if Bayindir’s wonder performance gives him a shot over Onana. Bit risky but I imagines he’s been on top of the world since.

Not completely suited for this thread, but I can't create new posts.

I set one up for Utd fixtures with kick-off times and where to watch, as I often try to find which channel it's on (or isn't on so I need to find a stream).

Just got my first ChatGPT notification, so it came out like this:

Yeah, was wondering this too. Let Bayinder build on his new found confidence or let him be the cup keeper for FA and Europa.
I have a feeling it will still be Onana.

I'd like to see Zirkzee start tonight. Play Amad and Garnacho behind him. Given it's Southampton, I think we can be comfortable playing Bruno in the midfield two.

This isn't going to be easy. The players aren't struggling to get hyped up for these matches, they are struggling to play this system against teams that sit deep and hit us on the break. Our CBs are not fast or mobile and thats fine when we are playing more defensively but with a high line it leaves us exposed. Our lack of quality in the final third is all the more apparent when we can't counter on teams much.

We need to win this game but I don't think its going to be anything to do with desire from the players. Its execution.

Little mix up and fresh legs wouldn't hurt.

    Onana
    Yoro De Ligt Martinez
    Amad Collyer Bruno Garnacho
    Rashford Zirkzee
    Hojlund

:D That would be mental lineup and would cause a lot drama. But Ugarte and Mainoo needs some rest, so does Mazraoui.

Onana will play, Altay‘s passing was poor. It is good to know we have a great backup though.

A bit of rotation surely. How about ZZ, Antony, Casemiro, Yoro for this game?

It'll probably be that, like with Romero in 2017. Which is fine if Bayindir can build on his performance at Arsenal. Onana isn't someone who's undroppable either.

I think you need to build momentum. Dalot is suspended so you already have to bring one in, and I imagine Yoro will come in for Maguire as he already pushed himself to play against Arsenal.

After that I would stick to the strongest team available. If we're 3-0 up by HT then start thinking about rolling out key players and giving game time to squad players like Antony or Collyer.

Up front it's a coin toss. Starting ZZ and then bringing on Højlund might actually help the latter bag a goal or two. But, to be honest, I'd stick with starting Højlund if he's fit.

Rashford will only play again this season if he's still here on February 1st

I'd like to see some rotation for tonight. Yoro could finally start another game. Onana should be back in goal without a doubt. Collyer hopefully gets maybe 20-30 minutes at least? Zirkzee has probably earned a start too.

    Seems a bit defensive.

    Perhaps replace Yoro with Antony?
